I've had kidney stone surgery 3 times now in 2 years. I have 3 kidneys they all work and I have 2 on my left side and 1 on my right side. I've had to go on patisum to help me not get anymore stones. I still have a stone that can't be removed yet the doctor said it was way too high up to be blasted out so I've had it since February. All of my kidney stones have been located on my left side. Some days are better than others. I'm on pain killers that I've taken since my doctor prescribed them to me after I broke my back so I can't complain very much. Be safe Bobby

I too was born with 4 normal size kidneys and 4 ureters. All function properly. This is one of 5 genetic issues I have which makes me wonder. No one in my family has ever been diagnosed with multiples. I had one child at 7 months gestation when I was 18 and was never able to conceive again. He was checked but had a normal 2 kidney system. Most Doctors don't believe me!!!

I also have an extra kidney, all working normally. I've decided I'll just let them be until one causes me trouble

I have 3 kidneys and completely healthy. Unfortunately, I have tried donating one and surgeons refuse because it will disrupt the "circus".

Hi! I found out about my third kidney when I had my appendix removed. I have two on my right one being small and probably useless, as well as one on my left. Haven't had any issues though.....

I have the same problem. Doctors say it's not a big deal, but I'm in constant pain daily and they don't understand that. I asked if I could get it removed and they turn me down because it's not "causing enough problems". Idk what to do anymore. I always have either a uti or kidney infection. Never had stones, but I'm currently experiencing symptoms of stones.

Most of the time, in the occurrence of three functioning kidneys, one or two can be smaller than a normal kidney. I would ask your physician to send you to a specialist to assess whether all are viable and/or if transplant donation is possible before you start giving them away.

Hi, I live in Australia. I’m 52 and I’ve always known I have double ureters on right side, but found out today they are leading from two kidneys on the right side. One empties normally into the bladder, the other has a tiny opening causing it to balloon. It was very strange to watch this happening while I was having a cystoscopy.
