I have a sharp pain in my left side when I take a deep breath.

Hello, I noticed about a week ago I had trouble taking deep breaths w/o having a sharp pain on my left side.  It went away for a few days, but is back again.  I find myself short of air and feeling the need to take deep breaths, however it feels like I cannot take the full deep breath that I want.  It is not excruciating pain, but it is definitely uncomfortable and painful.  It is below my left ribcage, but not underneath it (if that makes sense).  Basically where my ribcage ends is where the pain begins.  I do have an awful diet(fast food) and I do smoke.  I am 29 years old and I fear that it is something serious.  Anyone have like symptoms or know what it may be? Or how to treat it?  I obviously will go to the doctors if it doesn't go away or gets worse, but with the holidays and work, I have a hard time to get free time to go to the doctors.  I've been told it could be gas, a slipped lower rib, gull bladder infection, collapsed lung or a sore or pulled oblique muscle.  All but the first and last seem very scary to me, and I doubt it is the sore oblique because I havent done very many strenuous things lately.  Any insight will surely help.  Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Same here, but I'm 14 and on pills that are supposed to lower my immune system, I was wondering if that was the cause or not. I'm the only one if my house right now that is awake and I don't want to bother anyone. It hurt so bad when I tried to cough I screamed in pain. My throat also feels scratchy.. I hope this isn't that serious.
I'm 14 too and having this... IDK why
What you are describing is very normal for young growing people. My mother called them growing pains. But I remember they hurt like hell. I would have to force a quick hard breath (painful) to make it go away -- otherwise you suffer longer.
Just thought id let you know someone in my family had a collapsed lung in the left side. They are ok now as after some anti biotics and giving it a little time, it should heal! It will take some time but will be healed eventually :)
I don't know if you're still on this site, but that's the exact remedy? I'm supposed to get mine out, but i would kinda like to keep my gallbladder if possible
Actually there is a disease where everything is swapper my gall is on the left because of it
It could also be a kidney infection or kidney stones.
Same im 15 and I just got it randomly while sitting now I can't move
Did u mix the epsom salts [teaspoon or tablespoon], olive oil and lemon juice in the apple juice?
Same bro I'm 14 and I don't know y I have it
The gall bladder is on the right side; the above posters pain is on the left side!
Oh my gosh I did the same thing when I had gallatones!!! It was the worst pain ever but the green stones were kinda cool. I eventually had mine removed because I had a few that were to big to pass and would not break down.
I'm having the same pains as you all but I'm 13 and female I'm near someone who smokes, it's only my left side
I did what you said and I feel better does it return?
I'm 15 and the same has been happening to me but it started right after i got blood taken
