It has been about five years that I've experienced a strong odor of cigaretts smoke. It seems like someone is blowing warm smoke up my nostrils. My eyes sting and burn. I get headaches in the back of my head from it. I feel like I'm choking because I can't get a breath of fresh air. I had a hose up my nose by an ENT and he didn't find anything but prescribed Flonase to cover up the smoke smell. That just makes me smell cigarette smoke roses. Yuck! I'm ready to go the next step and ask my PCP to refer me for further testing. I'm worried that I have a tumor or have had mini strokes
i too have been smelling smoke for about 5-6 months. i finally went to the doctor and he said its one of two things; an allergy - in which he gave me a nasal inhaler and told me to take an OTC like Clariton or Zyrtec - if it doesnt seem to clear up in 30 days, to see an ENT.
He says that somewhere between my nose and brain (there is a direct cavity somewhere up there in the nose that leads right to the brain) the smells are getting distorted. It could be allergy or it could be a problem with the brain. now i did have some post nasal drip and i have been a lifetime allergy sufferer so im hoping thats all it is.
I ALWAYS SMELL SMOKE EVERYONE THINKS I'M CRAZY. A LOT OF TIMES THE SMELL MAKES ME SICK TO THE STOMACH AND SHORTNESS OF BREATH.
I had the smoke smell. I stopped using butter and it went away. It might not work for everyone, but it did for me.
I take Zyrtec everyday as well, have been for going on 3 years. But I just recently started smelling smoke. I had a ridiculous cold in May and since then I feel my sense of smell and taste are different. The smoke smell is weird-I just decided to google it tonight and lo and behold!! --so many things popped up. I thought I was crazy!! Not sure how long I'll let this go on...otherwise I am healthy.
