My boyfriend started complaining about the pain he feels on his left shoulder blade. He told me that before but he told me that maybe it's just a sprain or something. I asked him what did he do to make himself feel such discomfort but he told me that pain occurred when he went out of the school's comfort room.
2 days later, he had colds and his back didn't hurt anymore. Unfortunately, when he was about to pick me up at school a day later, he complains again about the pain on his shoulder blades and this time, it's worse than before.
First thing that went on my mind was pleurisy.
What could be the probable cause of his pain?
People experiencing this pain (I am not a doctor, not even close.)... I'm athletic myself.. I ride bikes, jog, play sports, lift weights, sleep wrong... about once a week I experience pain behind my shoulder blades in my back, but I have learned how to correct it before it becomes too painful to bare.. The way I picture it is that a nerve or muscle fiber has been pinched by the shouldblade itself, and the longer it remains that way it becomes inflamed and sore... It starts out as a sharp pain only felt in certain movements and then becomes just sore and painful regularly (inflammed). Makes sense? What I do is lift my shoulders as high as I can towards my ears both at the same time... and a lot of the time I will hear and feel a pop sound accompanied by a sudden shift of the shoulder blades (unpinching the nerve/fiber). Thats when I know I have solved the problem(it takes practice)... The pain will usually subside within 3-4 hours... (the re-alignment has taken place, but the agrivated nerve/muscle fiber has to come down from inflamation.) I've been doing this for about 6 years without fail, it works for me at least. Hope this helps...
regarding your pain in your left shoulder or arm - you may want to have some tests done re your gallbladder. It is possible that you may have gall stones.
I also have a pain under/beside my left shoulder blade. It has been persisting for about a year now. It wakes me up constantly throughout the night. I am a physical therapy student and I am still puzzled by this pain. It is a sharp stabbing pain, but I also feel a slight sensation across the area of my back where the pain is. This is just a sensory sensation so that leads me to think it may be connected to some sort of nerve impingement/damage. But mainly I think the pain is caused from postural problems, but then again I'm not completely sure. All I know is that it hurts and its an annoying pain.
It's trapped gas that gets under your shoulder blade. It's seems to be like a big bubble. It makes it hard to take a deep breath and uncomfortable to lay down. It eventually goes away, but can always come back. Hope this helps!!
thanks again :D
I have the same problem. My pain feels like it is under my right shoulder blade. Sometimes, the pain is so strong i can't walk, breath, roll over in bed, or move my right arm without excruciating pain. I had my boyfriend try to massage it out thinking I had a musscle that was in a knot. It only made it worse. I don't know if i should go to hospital, (although i've been seriously considering it). And i haven't been in any kind of sport in years. I stay active, but not overly to the point where I would place this pain with an activity i did where i could have sprained. Sometimes the pain is so strong I can hardly handle it. I'm 22 and have been experiencing this pain for several months now, at least. Pains meds like tylonal don't seem to do anything, and I'm not fond of doctor prescribed pain meds. I don't know what I should do.
