I checked for bumps but couldn't see any.

It's like a painful itchy feeling almost feel's like razor burn but a lot more painful.

It sounds to me like fissures. they are very irritating and can hurt just as MUCH as Hemmeroids. I get them all the time. Try applying some cornstarch to keep the area dry. Moisture is quick to breed in that area. You might also feel relief with a bit of neosporin. Good Luck.
