i have had the same problem i have always had short hair and i aboslutely despise it . So i am taking action and once and for all i am going to make my hair grow!! whoop whoop!! Anyway the best way to make it longer is... Avoid heat at all cost it is really bad for our hair. Have a healthy diet and avoid junk food as it slows the hair growth. Take lots of vitamin B e.g. egg meat and poultry and cheeeeese. Rub your scalp as it makes the blood flow better and will help. Also hanging our head upside down has the same affect but dont do it for too long. Also i heard this ,mane n tail, shampoo is meant to be a miracle for your hair growth sand makes it thicker and healthier. It is horse shampoo but is also used by humans. Also dont brush your hair when its wet as it expands and damages and thins our hair! Hope this helps my har grew and inch and a half in one and a half months and it is now growing at a rate of two and a half! Good luck and have patience!XD

WRONG. You most def CAN grow 4 inches in 2 1/2 months. I've done it. SOME people are just more fortunate than others...

Hello.... No disrespect intended, but that is absolutely ridiculous to say that smoking and eating unhealthy won't have an effect on losing your hair.
If you are skeptical about whether smoking can cause hair loss or not, a recent study says 'yes'. A recent observational study has found that smoking can cause hair loss and also baldness.
There are many ways cigarette smoking can cause hair loss, and most of these are related to the effects of cigarette smoke on your hair follicle. Cigarette smoke contains almost 4,000 lethal and damaging chemicals that can cause normal hair loss.
Smoking also causes dull, lank and smelly hair. Not only your smoking habit affects the look and smell of your hair, it can also make your hair break off.
Smoking stops the flow of an adequate amount of oxygen and nutrients through your blood. Because your hair does not get the right amount of the vital nutrients, your hair becomes unhealthy.
So if you are already a smoker, give up the smoking habit for shiny and healthy hair.
You can stop hair loss by adopting a well-balanced diet, practicing healthy hair care and being gentle when styling your hair.
Eat a Healthy Diet
A poor diet, yo-yo dieting and eating disorders can cause hair loss. To avoid hair loss because of inadequate nutrition, the University of Maryland Medical Center suggests eating foods that are rich in nutrients and antioxidants, such as whole grains, dark leafy vegetables, blueberries, tomatoes and peppers. Hair loss is a symptom of an iron deficiency. Eat plant and animal sources of iron such as iron-fortified cereal and meat. For protein sources, choose lean meats, fish and lentils more often than red meat. My Mother has smoked most of her life and her hair has thinned and breaks off easily. Her skin is well wrinkled now too, due to the smoking. She had a head full of thick beautiful, long hair and only til recently she has begun eating healthier and taking vitamins and her hair has thickened and grown long again. Not to mention she is almost 60 years old. No one else in my family has those issues of hair loss or thinning, but everyone else eats healthy and doesn't smoke. My grandmother (my moms mother) is 92 years old and still had beautiful skin and a head full of hair. As well as my grandfather did til he passed away at 87 years old.

Am retired from being a Stylist, have been in Real Estate now for years, however I did long ago own my own Salon, took continuing classes and Advanced classes all through my career and TRUST me there is NO magical solution to make your hair grow faster, yes, we sure can help to prevent abuse to the hair to keep losing hair from damage to a minimum, we all should know what does and doesn't damage our hair, it isn't a science, it is common sense.

Your hair is going to grow as fast as your hair normally grows, taking vitamins is great for our overall health and hair is a part of that, but it is not the reason ones hair grows at a faster rate than another, if this was true, don't you think they would lay claim to this and have documented proof, if for no other reason than to sell their product. Just like the ones that lay claim to grow your hair back.......... feel so sorry for these folks men and women that have false hope and visulize their hair growing back, only to spend a fortune and maybe see a little fuzz that goes away once they quit this process, it doesn't grow hair.

When scientists discover the means to grow hair, grow hair quicker, you will read and hear about it on Web MD, Fox or CNN, in your Doctors office, not blogs of people that want you to beleive something that is not there....

One blogger said a mouthful......PATIENCE.... it will grow back, nothing worth anything happens overnight.... normal hair growth with no health issues,  grows about 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch monthly... So about 6-8 inches a year......your Bob probably looks Adorable !!!

Here's something TRIED AND TESTED: I'm almost 50 years old, menopausal with overall thinning of hair. I take:
1) Vit D
2) Vit C
3)Multi Vit
4) Taurine
5) MSM
The MSM promotes hair growth but there is something else i do every day that just seals the deal - i add EMU oil to my bathwater and soak my hair in the bath every night. In the morning i wash it out. The emu oil use has resulted in the hair regrowing along my frontal hair line (which is supposedly the most difficult place to regrow hair). I took around 3 weeks of daily use for the hair to start sprouting where there was no hair at all. Now it has filled in beautifully. My hair is also growing rapidly - i think its the combination of MSM and Emu oil.

There's more to it than just hanging your head upside down. I've been researching the topic (found a whole guide on http://longhaired.net/) and there's a lot to do. It's actually not that hard and I saw improvements myself.

It suggests doing the massage thing a few times a week but you also need to look at other factors. Your lifestyle (such as exercise and stress), your hair products and especially your diet. Your hair needs nutrition to grow and if it doesn't get it - it's not going to grow.

Take a hair vitamin with amino acids (those are proteins), biotin, and niacin. That will make your hair grow faster.

Every time I ask about vitamins for hair, i get prenatal but I'm wondering if I could take it. I'm 13 with crazy Afro-curly hair so I blow dry my hair and straighten it to keep it from going crazy. Right now it's about down to my chest but it's straight. I'm wondering if there is a vitamin like prenatal that can also help grow my hair straight?

Hi everyone,
I also am trying to increase the growth of my hair, and make it healthier while it is summer time, and I'm out of school. I usually shampoo, and straighten my hair everyday. I'm well aware of the damage that can do. Until recently I haven't been able to find and shampoos that would allow me to skip a day of shampooing because my hair would get so oily. Now I am using Nature's Pearl which can be ordered online, and I can skip two days of washing my hair! Now not only is is not oily, but it still smells nice. Natures's Pearl is all natural, and doesn't lather as much to keep from stripping the natural oils in your hair. They also have a great conditioner, and a muscadine grape seed supplement that should be take twice a day! If you try this product, let me know how it went! Hope this helps!
(P.S. I stopped using heat on my hair for the summer, and that probably has some effect as to how my hair acts with shampoos.)

I wouldn't say to take prenatal vitamins. Although they are good for hair growth and nails , if your not pregnant it makes you gain ALOT of water weight which maked you gain alot of weight. Eating right, taking 1 a day womens vitamins, and exercise will do the trick
