I almost spent $$$ on this too until reading some posts. This last one was very informative as well as this link: http://www.3fatchicks.com/Diets/Diets_Detailed/The_Idiot_Proof_Diet/.
Check it out. They rate different diet plans. They gave them a decent rating, but had nothing decent to say about this diet. It's another quick fix that will offer temporary results. They gave an example of the meal combos which made me realize I would never do this.Cheese and salad dressing??? I don't think so. Especially to gain it all back when I start eating normally again. The" Zone" diet was a way of eating for life. I lost alot of weight and it stayed off for well over a year after I stopped eating the way they suggest. It was alot of work and reading in the beginning, but after you get the hang of it, it became second nature. Why I would want to try anything else is beyond me. I guess variety. Something new. The Zone is supposed to hormonally balance your body too. I know I felt great and looked great. There is room for slacking, you don't have to be super strict to get results. The author says every meal you eat in the Zone is a plus. Not you have to eat EVERY meal this way or it doesn't work. The stricter you are the faster you get results, but even the days I blew it, I still didn't gain anything back.It seemed like even when I ate too much, I'd step on the scale the next day and another lb. would be gone. It amazed me. It really changes your metabolism. You can eat anything, just make sure you have protein and fat and carbs in the same meal. If you want a cookie, put some protein with it. I SWEAR this will work for those stuck in a plateau. Dr. Barry Sears. The ZONE. If you call the 800 number, the consultants will help you without ever spending a dime. They were so nice. I'm definatley going back to what I know is healthier and what works. Good luck everyone!! Go for long term and HEALTHY.

Here's the link to go to the page on the Zone website that explains the way you would eat. drsears.com/gettingstartedinthezone.page
There is a ton of info on this website. Alot of reading material. And the phone number is at the top of the page where you can call with questions or get support without ever spending any money, signing up, or buying anything. At least that's how it was when I did this. That right there tells you this is not a money making scam. I went from a size 12 to a frim size 5 without pills or spending money for informaton. It was a healthy size 5 not an emaciated size 5. I ate 5 times a day too. The more you exercise, the more you eat. Lot's of celebs live in the "Zone". Probably because they can still eat and look good.

I have been doing low carb low fat and every other type of diet looking for a fast weight loss.. I think this diet is amazing.. Its simple and it works!! .......To be honest I will eat anything, if it will result in a fast weight loss.. ;-) The money I spent on the plan is comparable if not less than the many diet books I have also purchased. I also do not care about the health issues some seem so concerned about, cause nothing could be worse than carrying around this extra weight. To be honest, I do not have the patience for a lousy 2 lbs per week in addition to the complicated preparation of these other so called diets.. Besides this diet is for a fast weight loss not a life time diet.. I say, each to their own and whatever works for you.. If you don't like it don't do it!!!

I agree losinit. I have had good success with it. I've done the diet 8 times (I'm halfway thru my 9th time today), and I've lost 75 pounds. Best I've felt in years.

I dont think it will work for everyone. I basically got to a point in my life where I decided that I didnt care that a meal consisted of hard boiled eggs and mixed vegetables. I just wanted to be told what to eat and lose weight.

I just started this diet on Monday (July 9th, 2007) and feel considerably healthier. I don't know what it is about this diet. Today for breakfast i had to eat Tuna salad plate and scrambled eggs, and then i had to eat boiled eggs and cottage cheese for lunch, which i just finished a few minutes ago. I don't feel hungry...but i do feel lighter...I weighed myself this morning just to see if i've lost any weight and am down to 150 lbs - i started out at 153 and i'm 5'7.5". So i've lost some weight so far...and i can definitely feel skinnier! lol...Before this diet I was eating healthy - lots of veggies, fruits, "healthy fats", fish, whole wheat and brown rice dishes, and went to the gym 3-4 times a week for 45 minutes each day...and could never lose any more weight (I used to weight 178 lbs)...So i bit the bullet and started this monday...so far it is working, and i've cheated too! I've had a few pieces of chocolate and some kind of pastry with blackberry filling yesterday, but it didn't seem to make any difference to my "weight loss" - and i don't know if it's water weight - but i highly doubt it since i've been drinking a lot of water all along, even before i started this diet...but i don't know how that works...so hopefully when i finish with my 11 days i'll be 9 lbs lighter? Wish me luck! i will post again after my 11 days! :-D

I started this diet beginning of July and did 2 rounds. I lost 15lbs total for those 2 rounds and have just started the 3rd round this monday, 8/13. I can tell you this works for me! I followed the plan very strictly and drank a lot of water as instructed. When I got off the plan, I did pig out. I had to because I was on a trip with my friends in NY and went to popular restaurants everyday for 3 days. I gained back about 2 lbs. Now I am back on the diet, those 2lbs are already gone along with 2 more pounds! I have told my friends about this diet after my 2 rounds and they all first thought it's crazy to have such weird food combinations but since it's only for 11days, they are giving it a try. I am getting calls from them saying that it's working for them too.

The way I see it is, yes, you have to be rational and be balanced when you are considering different diet plans. You also need to do your share of research before starting any weight loss plan since it will really help or harm your health. That is why I never did Atkins, South Beach, and etc... None of those diets convinced me that they are healthy. However, this FatLoss4Idiots made sense to me and the way I studied it was good enough for me to give it a try. I am VERY VERY happy I did. I am getting close to my goal of weighting between 120 and 130. All my friends who saw me during my NY trip all commented how fantastic I looked!

More than anything, I think the best benefit of this diet is that it teaches you to portion control. No matter what diet or no diet, you CANNOT expect to be healthy if you pig out everytime you sit down to eat. (the way I've been eating) So, if you expect to pig out when you go off this diet, naturally you will gain weight. For 11 straight days I am forced to be conscious of my portions and it became a habit for me so that I watch how much I eat even when I am not on the diet. I am so proud of myself when I catch myself from eating too much at one sitting.

So, it works for ME. I don't know about others and I am careful when I tell my friends about it since each person's attitude or approach to a diet could really be different.

Read testimonials, read criticism and decide for yourself! ;-)

I don't know, i don't know... Have read all the posts on this website, looked at suggested websites and don't know what to say.....
It looks like there are a lot of scam posts - too short and too positive reviews from 'guests' and ppl with one or few posts...
I'm on low carb diet at the mo and have tried millions of diets before and must admit none, except low carb diet helped me to loose weight. But unfortunately gain it as well because i am soooo sweet-tooth.
id**t Proof diet seems very tempting but I am not convinced.

Haven't seen anyone offering this diet book to share - if it's true you lost weight already, I believe you wouldn't grudge to give a copy away to other poor buggers having the same problem...

And is there a time set to eat meals? Does it have to be the same every day? Or does it have to be different? Some diets say that it is very important to eat meals the same time every day...

Thank you for reading and much more for answering my queries.

I am on day 2 of this plan and I bought the plan...........so far so good................I had lost 10 pounds over the holidays just by pushing back away from the table and then walking at least 2 miles a day. I am up to lose about 40 pounds more, I am committed to the plan and so far I am not hungry and quite surprised on how I feel on day two......I have eaten exactly as the diet dictates and today my appetite has been suppressed.......it is amazing. On most diets I starve, and can't wait to get a meal. On this plan I don't feel anxious about food at all..............so far I am very impressed, and totally committed to the plan.

Thanks,
Sheri

I have a question for those of you who have tried this diet. I am trying to lose about 20 pounds and I stumbled upon this diet on the internet the other day and I was just wondering how much cooking is involved? and if there is cooking involved is there a way I could tweek it a little because I am a college student and I live in the dorms. Therefore I am not able to cook for myself. I do however work out on a regular basis so that could compensate for some of the tweeking I might have to do. I would really like to know this before I spend the money to buy it. If anyone could let me know their opinion that would be great! Thanks so much!

There is really not much cooking on this diet - if you have a dorm-sized refrigerator, you should be ok. The nice thing is, you get to choose which foods to include in your personalized plan, so if you aren't able to cook, you could choose mostly tuna or deli meats for your proteins, and a lot of fruits and vegetables for your carbs. If you happen to have access to a microwave, such as in a community room in your dorms, you can choose just about any of the available options.

Hope this helps!

I bought this diet over a year ago and was too lazy to stick with it, but I recommitted today because I need to lose about 25 pounds and my efforts just aren't cutting it.

For those who are unfamiliar with the diet I thought I'd post a sample of a day's menu. This is my menu today....
(you can eat the meals in any order, I don't think it matters)
Meal One-- Scrambled Eggs and chicken
Meal Two-- Ham, Plums, and low fat milk
Meal Three-- Shrimp, Cheese, and grapes
Meal Four-- Broiled fish and Roast Beef Slices

**Granted, some of the meal combos seem a little whacky, but I have friends who have used the diet and just love it, so that's why I'm committed to making it stick this time. I like that it's super simple, it tells me exactly what to eat, and I eat that and nothing else. You can have certain condiments and low cal drinks too. If I get hungry in between I've found that drinking a lot of the fruit punch flavored Crystal Light is really helpful. :-)

I'm really excited about trying the id**t Proof Diet, but I have a few questions:
1) I tend to eat a lot of small meals per day, can I eat more than four "meals" if they're small and use the allowed foods of the day?
2) Is there a certain calorie limit?
3) When the 11 days are up, can I go back to eating normally (healthily) without gaining it all back?

Thanks!
