Water bubbles and itching doesn't mean it's scabies. I've had the water bubbles on my hands come and go since I was very little. And guess what? It's eczema. For the majority of you it's contact dermatitis I'm sure. Long story short, if it's not a one time thing and it's affecting you more than it should, see your dermatologist. A little topical ointment does wonders in a short time.

I have had this condition since I was in elementary school. I'm now in my late 30's, and still get the bubbles once in a while. I always thought it was some sort of fungus or something. I actually went to a dermatologist one time to give me an explanation of what it was, and all he said was that I had dry skin. I was very upset because I knew it was more than just dry skin! I did not know what this was until today. Based on pictures and symptoms, it seems this is hand eczema.

I found prompt relief of the eczema by using an anti-fungal cream. Just go to your favorite pharmacy and purchase an antifungal cream tube and apply daily. It will disappear fairly quickly.
When they come back, just reapply the cream. I tend to get flare ups especially during hot months, high humidity weather.
Do not pop the bubbles. It will only cause scabbing! You will still get the hard skin before it heals, but it is much worse and evident if you pop them.

I hope this helps.

I have almost the same problem! My little bumps are mostly on the top of my hands. They pop, crack, bleed and I am in constant PAIN! My hands sting almost all the time! There is ONE thing that clears my hands up, and that is a cortisone shot!!! When I can get a docter to give me one and I have the money. That tell me that this is some kind of allergy! Also taking Benadryl every night before going to sleep.
I have had this problem for over 30 years!!! I was 16 when it started and I am almost 47 now!

Had the exact same thing several years back... Got to the point where they were 1"+ in dia., had to walk on crutches. Only thing that worked was a perscription for 5% coal tar in zinc oxide... Had to be mixed at an apothecary. The problem that I'd been plagued with for years quickly disappeared in a couple of days!

Zinc Oxide + 5% LCD (Coal Tar)!!! FIXES IT!

I have the same things and I know how frustrated it is. I 've had visited doctors so many times when I was stupid. I don't think there is any cure for it but what I can suggest is that don't waste your time and money with doctors espectially dermatologists. they mostly pretend they know what it is. I ve spent a fortune already. so ONLY go see doctor who you can trust and honest, ortherwise they will keep trying different things on you.

What really surprises me is that even after people after posting somewhat successful medications, others still complain and say, "hopefully someday we'll find a solution"... Do people actually READ these posts? I did, and I had EXCELLENT SUCCESS with the zinc oxide and 5% coal tar solution.

Wow... I thought my hands did this because they were dry! I have the same thing, itchy red spot, skin flaking off (especially on my fingertips), it got so bad the one year that I didn't have fingerprint on a few fingers. (oh the crimes i could have committed. :-) Thank you everyone who gave remedies for it, i've been trying slathering on various lotions for a few years now and nothing has worked. And since I'm an art major and need my hands all the time it's been tough. So i'm off to the pharmacy to try some new attacks!

Finally, people that I share this with. It usually starts itching before the bubbles show up. The leaking and yellowing and peeling all happen just on my left hand. It happens once or twice a year and lasts a few weeks. It takes a few days from itching to blisters. This time it has been 3 days of itching, swelling, especially at night and it had yet to turn to blisters. I wish it would hurry up. It feels better when I rub it hard. The rubbing scratching causes a tingling feeling up my arm to the side of my head. Weird. One thing I found that helps the itching at night is to use a cold pack on the affected area. Did it last night and was able to get some sleep.
My mother had it bad, covered both of her hands and arms. My brother has it on his hands and feet. Doctors give him steroid creams which don't help much. My mothers eventually went away. Why? Not a clue except that she started drinking vodka heavily for many years. I am going to try the finger nail polish remover soon. Thanks for all the info.

i used to have that SO bad when i was younger. so bad, in fact, that they had to put casts up to my elbows and knees filled with medicine for a week and an IV in my arm. finally, we went to this little mom-and-pop chemist place and they made me someconcoction to put on whenever it starts to bubble and i wear it overnight with bandaids on it. and sometimes is its bad enough, my mom'll just put it on like ointment and i have to wear little baggies over my feet with holes cut out.

they said its salycilic acid, mineral oil, and dyproline gel (idk if those are all speled right...) but it works like a CHARM. when i do it conststently it doesnt even have to pop and it doesnt hurt afterward...if you have that problem and the ointments dont work for you (AND THEY DONT WORK FOR ME AT AL D:-) you should check that out !

When I was 19 my hands started to itch, get tiny blisters and peeled. It would get better...then worse...alternating back and forth. Every time the itching started up again, it was worse than the time before. After spending thousands with a dermatologist,he told me to quit my job (cleaning houses) and not even to wash my own hair with out rubber gloves...who can live like that!!! I tried gloves and it only got worse. After suffering for 15 years, I figured out I was allergic to grapes. Now, they put grape juice in everything...I even had an reaction to a loaf of bread...I would have never guessed that anyone would put "raisin juice" in a loaf of bread. I now read every label. The gloves made it worse...because I am also allergic to latex. Chances are, if your allergic to one...your allergic to the other. Since then, I am now 46, I have become allergic to lots more stuff. Nuts, penacillin, artificial fragrances, what ever is in "natural flavor" and "artificial flavor" in our food, pseudafedrin... the list goes on. I think they use the word Dermatitis what they can't figure out what your allergic to. Every doctor I saw, told me something different and they were all wrong. %-) I finally had to start all over with my diet eliminating everything except rice and beef for a month to clean my system of everything and then adding one thing back, every week. It quickly became clear that my biggest enemy was processed food. Sucks, but better than suffering and being told it is all in your head, nothing can be done or taking pills and using expensive creams for the rest of your life. Take control of your own health, no one knows your body better than you.

Look up pictures of dyshidrotic eczema (dyshidrotic dermatitis) - is that what you see on your hand/fingers? I've had it since I was a child, and when I became an adult, it always reminded me of some type of herpes virus in the bumps that popped up (chicken pox like, which is a form of the herpes virus as well) - if the pictures you see are what you experience than see a doctor for confirmation WHEN you are having an episode, and if it is something that is really bothersome, a dermatologist can perform a type of photo/light treatment on the area/s.

I have just lived with it, and when I have the open areas, make sure to keep my hands extra clean and at night, use a really thick emollent hand cream, putting cotton gloves over them. Like you said, it stays around for a week, so while it is not nice to look or and some people may say : oooh what is that? IF you have dyshidrotic eczema, it is NOT contagious. Just unattractive.

ugh, as I'm typing this my fingers itch haha ... I finally went to a dermatologist last year & was diagnosed with a form of eczema (erythema annulare centrifugum) ... soooo there's no cure, but many temporary solutions ... working in a pharmacy, we have many Many MANY creams that can help (all cortisone based) ... I personally use Tiamol combined w/ Menthol & Camphor crystals ... it keeps it at bay, but as soon as I stop using it ... TAH-DAH, it appears again in all its fury ... sorry to say people ... we're stuck with it unless you can determine what your individual underlying cause is (food, laundy detergent, moisturizer, etc.)

Psoriasis of the hands and feet.
Least common form causes blisters.
It can cause life threatening complications eventually.
Treat with strong topical steroids.
Do not scratch or pop the blisters - it will make the area itch more and often produce more blisters.
Depending on time of year and skin condition, I will use steroid in alcohol base, cream, or petroleum jelly base. Prescription strength is recommended. Betamethasone valerate is my favorite.
