My doctor gave me a cure! It says on the tube: Betamethasone valerate ointment - topical corticosteroid. This stuff is amazing! I found my fingers breakout in these bumps if I am stressed or weak eg going to bed very late for more than 3 or 4 nights in a row. I applythe ointment before bed and within 2 - 3 days, the itching has stopped and the bumps reduced. It finally dries and flakes on day 4 - 5. Simple!

This same thing happenned to me yesterday and drove me crazy all night. I woke up early and studied the subject on google search.
I then mixed myself up a potion of tamanu oil, baking powder and instant kava. Two tablespoons of tamanu oil and then added instant kava and baking powder (roughly in the same proportions) until I had a runny paste/cream. Put the paste on about 3 times over a period of half n hour and the feeling was bliss, other than a slight tingling the irritation was gone. I don't know whether or not it will fix it, I guess I will find out in a few days but there was relief at last.
You can get the instant kava at Nakamal at home web site, the baking powder was gluten free from the grocery store and tamanu oil can be accessed from the web. Luckily I keep all three all the time.

Its now the night of the 11th October and I have not applied the potion since this morning, I was applying it everytime the effect wore off. Last night I had a great sleep with little annoyance from the fingers. I reckon its done the trick. 95% of the itchiness and burning has gone and the little blisters are smaller now. Oh, the other thing i did was after I rubbed on the potion I massaged a little virgin cocnut oils over the area as well, that always seemed to top this off nicely as far as the burning went.

It's nerves that cause this... I've had this for decades now and the only thing that I have found to work is a nice quiet weekend while taking valium.

Hello folks. I get the same thing; sometimes on my feet as well. Happened a lot when I was in college. I have tried everything to alleviate the condition and found most things to be temporary at best. One thing that I did do that has reduced the occurances is to eliminate caffeine and reduce your stress level. I have one caffeinated drink a day now (that was hard for me) and changed my mental outlook on things. Those two things have reduced my breakouts to less than once a year (it used to happen 4, 5 or 6 times a year). I also agree with a previuos post about limiting handwashing. If I wash my hands a lot, I can tell that it is about to start.

This happened to me a lot, it happened whenever I used Dawn dish soap...it got so bad, that I couldn't open my hand anymore, and bled and cracked, it felt swollen like it was full of liquid, I went to a doctor, cuz I was so scared that I would lose my hands. I don't remember the exact name of it, but in latin or some language it meant "Liquid bubbles". I was give aloe, and gloves, told to keep myself from prolonging it in water and soap, so I wore gloves while I showered. It stems from a allergic reaction (Dawn dish soap for me), and it gets worse with stress! don't worry it goes away, I have stayed clear of dawn dish soap, and thank god that it finally went away....some scary stuff

Re: DStevenson (similar with a twist).
What you described (starts as a red spot on side of finger......working its way up to finger tip,
Callus-like development and skin peeling in EXACTLY what I have!
I know your post is old but if you did receive any helpful responses, advice and/or treatment can you please post!!!
Thank you.
I am concerned because my 9 yr old son'r finger tips are starting to peel! (no callusing or red spots that we have noticed)

I've had this condition since I was young. It occurs only when I reside in the more humid places, (living in Singapore now), otherwise, when I travel to the colder countries or return to Europe for winter breaks, my fingers are alright. It started spreading downwards to my palm after I returned to Singapore a couple months ago though... My GP prescribed Betasone cream, not sure if you can find it wherever you are though...

I am a 35 year old male with no health conditions that I know off. I rarely get sick. I started to get the the itchy hands with bubbles and peeling skin around college. Back then it was more mild and outbreaks happened less often. I would get them once a year. For some reason I have noticed that the outbreaks happen around when the seasons start turning. From Winter to spring, end of winter, from fall to winter, begging of winter. Its like my hands tell me when the weather is going to start turning.

Now a days 15 years after college, I get them more often and the outbreaks are not only my finger tips but my full hands, palms and all. I also get them on my feet but it does not seem to be as bad there. There are times when the outbreaks are worse than others. Bad out breaks are very itchy the skin peels off on a larger part of the hand all finger tips, large parts of the palms. Really bad ones will peel twice. Bubbles appear the skin peels and leaves a softer skin underneath then it happens again. The soft skin peeling is really painful. If you pull that skin off you run the risk of bleeding. (This has only happened once though, I probably festered the king chewing it off every time). SO avoid itching the affected area, do not peel the skin or scrape the skin of the affected area. I know the large pieces of shedding skin look ugly as hell but leave them it helps recover faster.

The dermatologist has prescribed Fluocinonide 0.05%, a steroid ointment. Put the steroid on then put latex gloves on to cover the ointment. The gloves also help when washing your hands or anything else. The less you wash your hands or use detergents or sops on them the better you will be. It is very hard for me I like everything clean. This year i used the ointment the doc prescribed last year but it did not seem to help like it did last year. Actual the hands continued to peel with ointment and gloves on. I put them on every night and throughout the weekend. Well when people where not around. Can't go around looking like a lunatic with bright blue latex gloves.

I read about the potential reaction to nickel. I am going to try to avoid contact with it see if it helps. Its hard to prevent as it just starts itching one random day close to when the weather changes, one does not think about it until it starts itching. Also will try to avoid detergents and washing my hands in exes around the change of the seasons. Once I find something else interesting I will be sure to share.

Well hope my experience helps some one.

Thanks

I get this too (11 years) . After 6 years it was all over my hands and up my wrists. A lot of research related mine to food allergies which I didn't know I had (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, fish and raw red meat). Excluding fish (which I can't even smell), I can eat these things fairly often without any effects but touching them always sets me off. Exposure around the time of my period makes it worse but so does emotional stress so I wonder if thats the main thing? I also wonder about mild anaemia? Would love to know the blood group of everyone who gets it?! I use Fucibet cream (steroid and antibiotic) when its bad, which isn't often now. Before going to the doctor I used to dip my hands in flash cleaning liquid... bit like the nail polish remover. Met a doctor once who said it was a sweat gland problem but never heard that again. I recommend keeping a food/feelings diary. Goodluck!

Hi guys,
ok what you have (from your description) and what I also experience is dyshidroic eczema. The first phase is little, clear bumps or papules that are seen on the palms of hands, fingers, soles of feet and toes and are extremely itchy! Then, the next phase of this is the clear bumps merge together. Then, the skin becomes very dry, itchy, and begins to crack and peel. Try not to scratch as this can cause bleeding and lead to infection.

I also live in Canada and only experience this around Feb-April where the weather is changing constantly. In the summer time I don't get this eczema.

You can go to the doctors to get hydrocortisone cream and apply that. But, make sure to apply this cream very thinly as it does thin your skin. Also, make sure to moisturize with a fragnant free moisturizer (for me Aveeno works the best). You are not going to die lol, although I totally understand this is a really irratating condition as I also suffer from it!! Good luck. :-)

PS: I am also a nurse :-P

Hi, I get this condition as well. I found that Cetaphil hand soap and lotion combined work very well. Apply them both at the first sign of the little bumps before they get bigger and filled with clear fluid. It goes away in a day or 2 and never gets to the peeling stage. You don't have to scrub very hard.

I've had this as long as I can remember. (I'm 30 now). I've always noticed that this only occurs when it's warm out. Especially in the summer months.
I few years ago, but buddy said "I had that every once in a while when I was younger... I always just drank a ton of water, and they went away". So I tried that. While it doesn't cure it completely, I've found that drinking a lot of water really helps.

Maybe it'll help you too.

I too am a "bubble" sufferer, It sucks its gross, It started years ago as a kid, my mother tells me ive always had skin issues and sensitivity.  This paticular issue is simply annoying, the sensation of bumps when the inside of your fingers rub together is simply revolting to me. From what ive been told by various doctors who can identifiy it, there is no cure, you may someday "grow out of it" however you will likely always be stuck with it. I actually managed to go years without a flare up, now over the last two months ive had 2 flare ups the second being the worst ive ever had it. many doctors stare at it blankly and really only guess how to treat it, thats because their really is NO KNOWN treatment that consistantly works. I do belive this is hereditary as my sister suddeny had a couple bouts of it show up durring the time i was "bubble free" however lucky her they were only a couple incidents and as far as i know she hasnt had to deal with it since, and i can honestly say ive never passed it along to anyone thusfar. I'm now turrning 25, why its back now i have no idea there has been no excessive stress, life changes or sweating.

There was this ONE time however strangly enough i seemed to have been able to divert the flare up a long time ago. It was noted durring a bake sale in elementary that after wearing latex gloves for a while i had a typical skin reaction (since then my mother has insisted i have a severe laytex alergy) lol after all the skin irretations ive dealt with trust me the laytex alergy is far less annoying to deal with then the bubbles.  anyway fast forward about a year... i was helping my mother put one of those memory foam toppers onto her bed and although we never thought of it at the time, those things are just oozing with laytex rubber. within half an hour i started to burst out in bubbles, my mother felt so bad for exposing me to the laytex she immediatly shoved benadryl down my throat, strangely enough the bubbles had subsided by the end of that evening. THAT WAS THE ONE TIME BENEDRYL WORKED since ive dried desperatly hoping benedry, cortizone or staroids would work but nope nothing.

So all in all good luck fellow "bubble hand" sufferes, its good to know we arent alone :)

Happy scratching!
