Hey all,

I've done some reading, and I'm pretty sure I have this as well, although a mild case, and that mine is Nickel-induced. Keep in mind that Nickel is not just in coins, but in all steel, so if you are handling steel machinery, cutlery, musical instrument strings, and especially gripping it hard, you may want to switch to another metal if possible.

Oh my God glad I am not the only one with this.It happened to me when I was 17 years old and I am 22 now. The past few weeks it came back but not on my fingers but my face and lips as well. Unfortunately there is no cure of it at the moment but however I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT IT IS GENETIC! Because all family memebers on my fathers side of the family have it...either on their hands to the point where the skin cracks,on their legs, feet, etc. Unfortunate for me I have it on my hands and my face the worst :-( My mom said it's possibly something to do with our livers as told from my grandmother but it's not for sure so I will be seeing a doctor to see if they could help with it or not. If I eat chicken or touch dirty coins without washing my hands constantly, it gets worse and worse. The itchiness is so crazy that at one point in time I just didn't know what to do but sit there and cry and just wanted to chop my hands off o.O but if anyone found a cure,do tell!!! I will update after the doctors visit.

I saw a doctor recently about this problm and he said it can have ties to hair products, if you use a lot of hair products such as gels, spays, waxes and serums then this can trigger the exma, I'm not saying don't use them but apparently it is when you don't wash your hands after putting them inyour hair, he chemicals irritate your skin leaing it prone to certain problems and irritations. The dermatologist said he has seen it in many hairdressers and people that work in hair salons.
Hope that helps x

My hands feel itchy and probably i itch itch and itch harder thinking it will go away. But as i itch tiny bubbles form in hand and burst when pressed hard in that area. It happens in the side of my fingers and later on where i have itched and the bubbles have burst my hand gets dried up (Palm, Fingers) and the skin starts peeling off. This problem is with me since my childhood and i used to go to the doctor and the doctor gave my lots of medicined. He gave me 3 creams(ointment) Is there no cure :-(

The skin peels on my hands sometimes when I move to a new location. It bubbles up and turns white, before it peels off. Usually, it last a couple days or weeks, and then it's gone. I went to a dermatologist, and they said it wasn't fungal, bacterial, or viral, so not to worry about it. It can be embarrassing, but I'm sure a lot of people have things far worse.

This is my experience / remedy. My hands will break out in the same fashion. I can pop the blisters or they will dry up themselves, leaving dry, flaky skin. Itchy too. I have traced these incidences or cycles to diet, specifically the intake of corn syrup. Any and all kinds of corn sugars/syrups. They are everywhere. Symptoms usually start with itchy fingers and then a slight swelling feeling comes on as the "bubbles" or "blisters" appear, and then the bubbles begin to dry up, crack and then the skin peels away, and then we start over again when I consume too much corn sugar. I have learned my limits but it hard to give up the birthday cake, etc. Remedy: I drink Diet Mt. Dew, chew sugarless gum, eat fresh fruits and vegies and no sugar added ice cream....you get the idea. My younger brother self diagnosed himself experimenting with corn surgars. Same results. GOOD LUCK! tshort

PS: in re-reading the above posts, there are a few differences but most symptoms seem to have the same characteristics. creams/lotions dont work. My blisters dont get bigger. They are only on the tops of my hands.

I am getting these when I use alcohol based hand sanitizers. It also occurs when I get bug bites like spider or mosquito and stings like from bees. Not at the bite or sting site, but seemingly further down the "blood flow" to another region, typically showing up on my fingers. It seems to be some reaction to toxins in or on the skin. It starts with a severe itch, and then tiny blisters form. They are tight with fluid and are the size of a pin head or smaller. They seem to be clear with perhaps some brown coloration within. I have them now, after using some hand sanitizer, and after washing my hands repeatedly with mild dish soap, the itching has stopped. The blisters should go away by tomorrow. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what ingedient is toxic enough to cause this reaction, but it seems it's "Acrylates";

"These chemicals are reactive monomers which are employed as intermediates in the manufacture of useful, and in many cases essential, polymers and plastics. It is the chemical reactivity that makes these monomers useful in polymer production and also of concern because of possible biological reactivity resulting in toxic responses." - Excerpt from: "Health Effect Assessments of the Basic Acrylates." Oh my goodness...I can't believe that I have searched for so long and finally found others with the same exact problem. This started on my feet actually about 10 years ago. Then 2 years ago on my hands. It's so embarrassing. It's worse in the cold winter. They seem to start developing deep under the skin and "rise" to the surface and bust. Almost always, they will cause my skin to peel and often bleed and crack. It's very painful. I went to see a medplus type place for another problem and finally decided to tell a doctor about this problem. Ofcourse, the breakout wasn't too bad then and he probably couldn't see them and thought I was luny. He said it's probably eczema and that over the counter cortizone would be best. He also prescribed some too. I can't say for sure if it's working. What is this? Has anybody seen a dermatologist about it? I am going to make an appointment tomorrow once and for all.

Man I had no idea so many people were experiencing this. Especially since I couldnt find any pictures on google. My rash started almost a year ago while I was pregnant. It start on the outside of my right hand as a little spot the size of a dime. It changes from the fluid-filled red bumps to the hard scaly skin back and forth. It never goes away. It got bigger and bigger until it reached the size of a kiwi. Then it super spread. There are now spots all over the back of my hands ( never on my palms or feet), and on my knuckles. Its awful. Im going to try all the rememdies I just read. I really hope I can find something that works. I have tried anti-fungals, steroid creams, Aquaphor, Goldbond lotions, even desitin. Nothing has worked. It is not unbearable but it is embarassing. When it's dry its not so bad but when I have these red bumps it looks like i have some crazy flesh eating disease and I dont want anyone to see. I know it is not contaigous. Neither my husband or my baby have caught it. Im glad I dont have to worry about that. Its terrible tho. I hope you guys find something that works. I will post my progress with everything I am trying. This sucks. Good luck guys!

I have this problem as well. I used to only break out in the winter, but eventually it occurred more and more frequently throughout the rest of the year randomly. I used to apply Hydrocortizone Ointment because it slowly soaks in and bind my hands to keep from itching. But as I am a programmer now, I can't afford to bind them anymore. As soon as I feel the itch, I get Hydrocortizone Ointment on both of my hands and I take OTC Claritin if I haven't been taking it lately. The Claritin will slowly make the bubbles turn yellow--but I wouldn't advise picking at them as they will eventually slough off. If you are going insane from the itch--don't scratch. I will wash my hands with a mild soap and let the water get hot to a point (don't let it burn) and let it wash over the bubbled areas. OR after washing your hands apply 3% peroxide over those areas--especially if you popped a bubble. IT WILL STING, but it will dull the itch a little and keep those areas from getting infected. At all costs avoid scratching. Rubbing is gentler. I eventually discovered the cause (for me) is foaming hand-soap in public bathrooms. Eventually, I get used to the soap if I use it enough, the reaction lessens. But it is annoying because I don't know which brand will cause it yet.

Hi I'm 20 and I've had eczema my whole life, usually trigger by coco, artifical coloring and peanut butter (i know, the horror of not being able to eat much sweets and chocolate when your little, ah well). I started getting this on my hands a few years ago, but from what i've read, my case is very mild in comparison, i didn't really worry about it cause it always went away after awhile, if i used certain creams, went away even faster. I get it maybe once a year now if that.

Rosken Skin Repair: Dry, Itchy & Scaly Cream

that stuff is fairly good, though for more extreme cases ask a pharmicist for a stronger type of that type of cream.
My mum would get eczema too, but she uses the skin repair stuff daily after showering and she never gets any flaring at all, (maybe i should do that too but i'm a bit lazy when it comes to that >.<).

Also:
Redwin Sorbolene moisturizer for sensitive skin is good too, that's worked wonders for my normal eczema and now i only get my eczema occasionally on the back of my knee on my right leg, and it's only mild, if i stayed away from chocolate i'd never get it. (but let's all agree, chocolate is so good though)

Hope this helps.
