A note since some posters seem to think that makeup will make your skin look bad: Good makeup will not cause your skin to age faster or look worse than someone who opts to not wear makeup. In fact, it can be helpful since the good stuff has sun protection in it.

What ages the skin is smoking, a lousy diet, too much booze, and too much sun exposure. Eat well, wear sunblock every day, and keep alcohol to a moderate amount, and your skin will wear well.

To answer the OP: Not wearing makeup isn't any stranger than wearing it. Just be sure that you use a sunscreen every day to protect your skin!

I'm also not crazy about make up. There will be days I'll put some mascara on to make my lashes longer, so my eyes stand out better and maybe some lip gloss. But there will also be other days, I won't put any make up on. Not every girl needs make up. On some girls make up doesn't really work. It depends. You're not defined as female by makeup, shoes and bags. These are just some things girls tend to like, but not all girls do.

If you can feel confident without wearing makeup it really is so much the better for you. Makeup ages your skin- women who wear a lot of makeup have to deal with wrinkles and dull skin far earlier than women who don't. And most cosmetics aren't very safe- there are tons of chemicals and carcinogens that are best avoided.

Wearing make up turned into a habit; I didn't realize what was in it until I did my research, I still wear it but to a minimum. I figure, if you can't eat it, why should you put it on your skin? On the other hand, for almost 30 years, I became obsessed with it. Every day before leaving for work, like a ritual, I showered, & I put on the war paint, (moisturizer, foundation, pencil eyeliner, shadow, mascara, & lipstick, (I looked like a barbie doll) & then the combat boots to face the world. I do love makeup! But now that I have the luxury of time, & do research the ingredients on the labels, I am very cautious. I am no longer working in the industrial pollutants, sitting in the exhausting traffic jams, or in the rat race. I only thought I was protecting my face from with the makeup from the grease & grime out there; retirement hit me in the face at 52, & I now I live among the wildlife, trees & fresh air, life changes have been simplified. I've got a fresh face, too!

ok...now...let's all say it together, "we are all different." very good, ladies! for me, makeup is wonderful. i only do my eyes and lips, though. no powder or foundation. i find joy in doing my eyeshadow and mascara and i feel it accentuates my eyes. for you ladies that hate doing makeup, great! it's your choice so by all means, continue! c: but for those who say that makeup is making you seem like someone you're not, that's simply not true. obviously if someone chooses to wear makeup, then that is them being themself, yes? to not wear it would be acting like someone they're not. make sense? as far as the male persuasion is concerned, they seem totally indifferent as long as the makeup isn't too overdone. my boyfriend hardly seems to notice either way, it's just not that important to him. anyway, ladies, we are all beautiful with or without makeup!

I don't wear make up all the time either, but I enjoy wearing make up when I do. It's not something I do to look better, it's something I do to feel good. I enjoy puting on a little make up and dressing up. On a night when I know my husband and I are going to be together, I enjoy dressing to the nines. Making myself feel sexy. It's kind of like the right kind of cloths. You wouldn't wear your PJ's to any interview, and you wouldn't wear a business suit to sleep in at night.

Don't worry about it,
I'm the exact same,
it's not that I hate makeup,
but to waste time applying it every morning,
I DONT EVEN LIKE GETTING UP IN THE MORNING!
Plus natural beauty is great. :D

I'm right there with you. I don't like wearing make-up either. I enjoy taking good care of my skin, hair, myself - but I don't like to put on "the mask." My motto: Natural beauty needs nourishing.

Yes natural beauty is a real beauty. high makeup is not good for skin. I wear light make at any function or party not daily. but daily i use a light lipstick. Coz my lips become dry without using lipstick.

I like what somebody said about how beauty shines from the inside out. As a makeup artist, I always want my clients to know this. If you feel beautiful, you will look beautiful. It doesn't matter what you put on your face. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you disliking makeup! Please don't put yourself down for not being able to do it. I'm sure you could do it if someone would just give you a tutorial... but more importantly, does it even matter that you wear it? If it is important to you, then by all means head over to a day spa (NOT the makeup counter at the mall) and have them give you a makeup lesson. They'll show you how to put it on so it highlights your natural beauty, unlike the makeup counter at the mall where they'll generally show you how to look like Girl A from this month's hottest magazine. Natural beauty is sexy, and it speaks to a higher level of confidence that girls who NEED their makeup lack.

But please, wear sunscreen. :-)
