my ribs protrude on my left side too. It has gotten so bad that if I wear a tight shirt you can clearly see my ribs protruding out on the left side! What's weird is I just notice it one day, I deffaintly wasn't like this when I was a kid??? Does any one know from a medical stand point as to why this happens??
Thanks for the ideaI am going to try a corset!! I have always wanted one, so bonus for me I have an excuse to buy a really nice one!

All of you with this issue should be evaluated for SCOLIOSIS.. Especially if you are still young.
I have scoliosis in both my upper and lower portions of my spine.. my left side/lower ribs flare out really far, my chest/breastbone area is caved in and one hip is higher than the other.. I'm now 48 and have many MANY painful issues.. I should have pursued this 30 years ago. But now I deal with the consequences.

Can you get a doctor's order for an evaluation with a physical therapist? It sounds like you may have a muscle imbalance, or undetected postural issue that needs addressed. If exercises do no resolve any discomfort (you may not have any discomfort.) Some conditions can be "asymptomatic" meaning that you do not have any pain, discomfort, shortness of breath, or restriction of movement. If your physical therapist doesn't resolve the imbalance after you consistently doing your exercises, you may need an x-ray to rule out any back issues. (mild scoliosis, etc) Spinal manipulation done by a DO or Chiropractor that does follow up with a trained exercise professional. It could be nothing. Don't fret over it. Just don't ignore what may have an underlying cause.

I was born with my ribs sticking out. It doesn't bother me, except for how every single person I see doesn't look like me. Everyone tells me it's just because I'm skinny and the doctors say it's not pectus excavatum. My mother said her ribs had stuck out until she was around 30, she had gotten a bit bigger yet you can still see them today. My family is strongly German, my neighbors are from Germany and the mother of my friend who lives next door to us and told me how she was also born with her ribs sticking out, but I never can see them through her thick sweaters she always wears. I'm 12 now, and people are starting to judge me from my ribs now in middle school, some kids think that it's cool that I can fit my whole hand under my rib easily with no pain. I just get confused sometimes on why I feel like the only person with this condition... I have done LOTS of research for many years on this topic, still no luck! Anyone like me? I'm confused on how I'm like this and like nobody else is.

I Believe Mine are on both sides... I haven't gone to a Doctor yet but, sometimes they hurt. Along with that on my right side it almost feels like there's Fluid...

Good reply. I have had this issue all my
Life. I'm 57. I have scoliosis now. I have 3 curves in my spine abd have had awful back and neck pain issues.
I have always complained that I felt like my
left ribs hit my hip. They are always sore. They come to a point just like quite a few have mentioned. Right side is nice flat and smooth.

I wish I had had the ribs at bottom taken out when I was young. Early intervention would have saved me a lot of misery.

I have never heard of Hruska. I will research this. I just had 2 hernia surgeries. I feel a lot of issues were caused by my twisted rib cage.
