People need to realize the weed boosts your metabolism and makes you hungry that's why most kemo patinces are prescribed marijunana so if your smoking on a empty stomach it will hurt cause you have nothing for your metabolism to break down! I've quit now for 3 days after chronic for 8 years I know all the pain and withdrawals I recommend to anyone who smokes everyday all day cut down two once or twice a day cause when it's time to quit it can only get worse! Don't smoke weed unless you have ate or are about to eat your not doing yourself any good

I'm really glad to have found this thread.  I was beginning to wonder...

I'm a 41 year old male who has been smoking for the past three years daily for sleep-related disorders.  It is amazingly effective for sleep, especially when using edibles and doesn't make me wake up all night like the pharma brands...sometimes naked in the kitchen holding a butcher knife over food I put in the floor.

After the first several months, however, my stomach began hurting very badly accompanied by vomiting almost every morning (4-5 times a week).  The vomiting stopped being so frequent but the stomach pains continued...almost debilitating.

I have stopped smoking but the stomach pain and vomiting continues.

I really wish the FEDs would legalize this so we can get good medical care without worrying about telling "conservative" doctors about our habits.

I came onto this thread trying to see if I could find answers. Not sure if I have cause I am not seeing anyone having same issues as me. I just turned 30 and been smoking pot for about 15 years now. I am a regular smoker, everyday. But I noticed in this last year I been having stomach issues badly the day after I smoke, early in the morning. Pains, bowel problems, and nausea. I always wondered if pot had anything to do with it? I feel like it does, but not sure. I LOVE my greens, but if it's making me be in pain and give me stomach problems, I rather quit before it got worse. Just wondering, has anyone found out if its the pot causing stomach issues?

Man I understand exactly what ur saying. I don't smoke as much as u but I blow down. N if I don't get my weed my stomach hurts too. My theory is because I don't really eat. When I first started smoking all I wanted to do was eat. But after months n months u get used to it. It's almost like u don't know when ur hungry. U just eat cuz u know u haven't that day. Do u have a job where u do manual labor? That could b another issue. If ur not eating right. Hope this helps n good luck with slowin down :P

Hey I've smoked for about 2 years now and now get bad stomach problems and even worse acid reflux while smoking and never had that problem a couple months ago, now I love marijuana and want to get back to my old self but this acid reflux acting up makes me not want to keep smoking aswell, is there anyway like maybe taking acid reflux medicine to quit the pain while high? It's a buzz kill but marijuana makes me feel great mentally

Hey guys this a real problem I have experienced on and off for over five years.  It all started when my pot use went from once a day to multiple times a day.  I get terrible bloating and stomach ache that cause nausea and uncontrollable vomitting  (sound like you?).  The Dr can never find a cause I have had every GI scope known to mankind and they always come back fine because you can't see gas.

I don't know what exactly pot does to cause so much pain but I do know it is the pot because  stopped smoking for a year when I lived in DC because I had no connect and was fine I never had a problem with my stomach, however upon moving to LA I have started to experience the problem again in full force once I started to smoke again.  Trust me its from smoking weed the problem with trying to stop is that is often hard to deal with the pain without the being high but once you get on the other side stop smoking and you will be fine.

You could try to use edibles because I think it is just the heavy smoke from the pot that irritates the lining of the GI tract or its from the abuse of munchie attacks where you sometimes double your calorie intake in as little as an hour without noticing both of these put a lot of stress on the GI track.  Also weed has psycho active effects and t could that your brain thinks it has to be high to eat or that it causes it to not feel the GI tract as clearly as it sold to regulate it.

I am a long time pot lover and it is hard to write this but trust me don't end up like me stop smoking if you are having this problem because if you don't it will only get worse.  Drs will not tell whats wrong because they have to see a a physical problem or obstruction in the GI tract to diagnose a problem and the problem is from gas and bloating pressure.

Think of your stomach as a car tire and your brain regulates the pressure in your stomach but if you are high or one little thing is off it can mess up the whole system just like a tire with to much or little air I think the  margins of gas pressure are very small in some peoples bodies so to be safe just quit smoking and see how you feel trust me guys it is the only to feel better pot is not worth losing over 50 pounds of muscle and endless Dr visits.

It is important to observe effects related to your own body.  Have you ever noticed that when you have to urgently go to the toilet for number 2, after having a very small amount of weed eg 1 cone it takes away the need to go to the toilet. This may stay the same way for hours, if not extend into the next day.  If it has this kind of power then there are potentially other side affects that you are not noticing. The related term for this is an anticholinergic effect or gastrointestinal slowdown. This may have varying effects on individuals and lead to irrational medical decisions such as treatment with medication that has side effects or worse still the incorrect diagnosis of conditions while the body is still under the influence of cannabinoids.  In some cases individuals have been misdiagnosed with gall stones or a dysfunctional gall bladder, resulting in surgery and removal of otherwise healthy gall bladder, which then has irreversible effects since the vital organ is removed.  Similarly if the individual who constantly vomits and cant hold down food is subject to a barrage of tests, including tests such as delayed stomach emptying, they can then be misdiagnosed for gastroparesis.  It is then doctors prescribe mild doses of depression related drugs that have been observed in rats to alleviate symptoms of gastroparesis. Although now you are on a new medication plus others which have a list of side effects as long as your arm.  My advice is to stop smoking, the lazy mans drug, lay to rest all the hype that it cannot affect you, avoid the inevitable short term memory loss, get some clarity. You only need 2-3 days to get clarity, and a month to monitor you gastrointestinal condition to see if it improves.  You wont be so edgy and you wont have to worry about trivial thing like seeing your dude or filling your bowl. Try it, you can actually buy a new toaster or jug each day for a moth. Wow all those appliances that you cant buy when you are wrecked doing your "2nd" job during your waking hours. You might actually save some money, mingle with your real friends and enjoy life a whole lot more. Better still you can do all the things you have been saying you will do but have been to lazy to do them.  If thats not enough of a benefit think about getting random breath tested and losing your licence or worse still falling asleep at the wheel because you are too tired and you brain switches off for a microsleep. There are plenty of reasons to stop, even if only for a short while.

I have the exact same problems verbatim! A hot shower helps slightly and if I don't smoke after midnight I'm "ok". Otherwise I'll be in the hospital. I notice not eating certain things like a lot of tomato sauce etc.. I smoke every day too but think it is due to being to being dehydrated internally. Because there is so much resin on the stomach lining, the body can't absorb enough water. I noticed that when the hospital gave me an IV I was good for a few days then back again in the hospital. Lots of water helps and stool softener helps because the sweats and pain come from the last part of your bowels. Before the movement comes out. Additionally, because if lack of water your poo's are sense and hard and can't pass by one spot. Then comes the pain. I've been dealing with this 10 years know.

Hi Lizardo, it sounds like you may be developing a type of irritable bowel or some type of digestion disorder. It probably is not caused by smoking weed, but you may notice the symptoms are worse when you smoke. Since your doctor's said you are anemic (which is rare for men) that is a clue that your intestines are not absorbing the necessary nutrients from the foods you eat. This can happen if you have had to take strong antibiotics or pain relievers like tylenol or advil. If you are taking vitamins you may want to stop and start eating more raw leafy veggies like kale, spinach, and fish. Many people have food allergies which lead to a vicious cycle so keeping a food diary can help you "weed" out the culprit. If you feel pain when you eat raw berries with seeds like raspberries or strawberries your gut may be inflamed and you should try an anti-inflammatory diet to see if it helps. Avoid all frozen meals, canned foods, and take out. Try chewing raw ginger before every meal it really works and corrects the issues. Papaya seeds help remove parasites and constipation. Good look.

This is so crazy I have the same issues with marijuana, I'm 20 & have been smoking since I was 16. I have severe anxiety when my high wears off, & it shortly turns into what feels like withdrawals from weed. Can't eat or sleep, constantly throwing up or dry heaving, I get hot & cold sweats, my body is shaking & aches. The only thing that keeps me somewhat relaxed is a hot bath. When I lived in California I went to the hospital & the doctors diagnosed me with "cannabanoid hyperemisis syndrome". I am to the point to where I don't even want to smoke anymore, but if I try to fight through it I will literally go a week without eating & will be extremely fatigued. Any advice for anyone who's dealt with this would be extremely helpful.
