Hi just had surgery 11 days ago ...wish I had read this thread before. I am already freaking out as I too was lead to believe this was a simple surgery that I would recover quickly from. I know it's only 11 days but foot burning and numb and can't put weight on it at all. Hoping things turned out successful for some eventually

How is everyone doing now? I am only 11 days post surgery and already thinking I made a mistake. I am 41 with 3 kids and very active. My neuroma pain came and went ...it was sharp electric shock into 4th toe at its worst and a bit of discomfort on ball of foot on better days....but some days had little of anything. I was lead to believe it would go worse so just whip it out, prevent future issues and move on with my life. I hope I am being impatient but I have a burning numb foot that I haven't been able to put on floor yet ...so much for walking in shoe straight after op. Reading all the other stories I can't quite believe we are so misled about healing ...and complications it seems.

Same problem here, I have been a runner for 28 years now, and its starting to take its toll as I have recently found I have mortons neuroma. Im trying my best to avoid surgery because I hate it but it seems to be getting worst by the day :(

hi I am happy that your feet have become good, can you please tell me your doctor's name so that I get surgery by him for my morton's neuroma?

I had neuroma surgery on my right foot around 2005. My problem after surgery has been with scar tissue. I had 7 injections and physical therapy after surgery, but I still have some level of pain. Some days are better than others; however, I do believe my foot pain is less than it was before surgery. I have come to the conclusion that I will always have some level of pain for the rest of my life. I contemplated having a second surgery to eliminate the scare tissue, but I decided against it, and I'm glad I did after reading everyone's comments. FYI, Aspercreme works fairly well when my foot hurts sometimes.

I feel your pain. I am 2 months post op. The initial stitches were taken out in 2 weeks. I had horrible pain anytime the bottom of my foot touched the floor. Two days after my stitches came out I looked down and my incision was wide open. I went to the ER and they cleaned it and put steri-strips on and told me to follow up with my doctor. Two days later I went to my doctor and his nurse restitched the incision. They left them in for 3 weeks, the pain was horrible awful. There was a section in the middle of the incision that looked iffy so he put a steri-strip on it. Here I am a week later and both ends of the incision is open and draining. I had an infection (per the ER) started antibiotics. My foot is in pain, I cannot walk on it. I see my Doctor tomorrow morning and I don't know what they will do. I started a job about 5 weeks ago and I have already missed 3 days. Not sure what to do....

I had a double neuroma removed two years ago and I'm still Experiencing pain when walking.
I have been told it's because of the scar tissue.
I have had two steroid I injections over the last two years, they last a while but then the pain is back.
My consultant won't give me anymore injections so I am having the scar tissue cut out.
Has anyone had this? Did it work?

I had a first neuroma surgery on my left foot. Was scared but all went well . It came back 6 years later . Was scared again but this time it was done from the bottom and all went well . Had a small one on the right and did it with our fear since the others went well . Wouldn't have even needed to do it as the pain wasn't that bad. I too have crippling pain on the bottom of my foot now which feels like I'm walking on a marble . I don't know if it's scar tissue or what and I moved out of state so don't even have the same Dr . Im supposed to start a new job in 3 weeks and I'm scared to death I will never get rid of this pain . It's 9 weeks post and I'm getting worse not better . The hardest thing to live with is it wouldn't have even needed to be done . I feel like he cut too deep on this because he didn't want it to come back like the other one did . Now I'm afraid it's scar tissue that won't ever go away . I also feel like this is a nitemare I can't wake up from . He wanted to do it on the bottom but I didn't want to be non weight bearing for 3 weeks and now I may never walk without pain again . I can't believe this is now my life .

I had neuroma removal 6 weeks ago. I'm a nurse and my husband is a urologist and this has been a nightmare. 11 days postop I got an infection. Lots of swelling and oozing from site. Two weeks on ABs. Two days after another infection! Gross drainage. Had it cultured and am on ABs again. Also huge know where small neuroma used to be. I'm an avid golfer, yogi and walker. 6 weeks of sitting and hobbling. My back is out and I cry every day! I wish I'd never had the surgery. I would love to go back to my little neuroma that hurt with fancy shoes. My husband and I both feel misled by the prep op information. Downplayed risks for sure!

I have the same problem. I can't wear shoes. Have you had any changes since this post?

I went to a plastic surgeon and he used genetically engineered placenta and the hole from the 2nd surgery finally closed. Check that option out as it was the only thing that closed up the hole in my foot

The right slipper fit fine but the heel of the left one was extremely wide and I couldn't keep it on my foot. I bought a pair slippers in my regular size. Also, the fabric on the outside at the heel of each slipper looked like the suede had been worn away. The slippers appeared to be "seconds." However, Orthofeet was cooperative about accepting the return and helped me with the label and shipping instructions. The customer service was great and I would recommend them.

I am sorry to say my surgery was 2 years ago and the whole top of my feet is numb, and my feet and ankles swell so badly that I can hardly find shoes to wear. I am miserable! I can't rub my arch and ball of my foot because the pain to too bad. I am wishing I would never have had the surgery. I take neuropathy drug and an antiinflamatory drug twice daily. Nothing helps! And it still feels like I am walking on a thick pad.

I’m scheduled for my 2nd “stump neuroma” surgery tomorrow. A stump neuroma forms after a failed Morton’s neuroma surgery. Morton’s Neuroma revision surgeries have an 80+ % failure rate FYI. There is a treatment out there that is being used called Neurotherm, but wait for it. Insurance won’t cover it because they deem it experimental even though it has a higher success rate than revision surgery. So what is my choice? Live with pain the rest of my life and become permanently disabled? What a world we live in where a treatment that has proven results they won’t approve!
