My son's hands and feet are peeling!

My son just recently got over being very sick with a high fever. Since then his hands and feet have been peeling. With him being only 6 years old, he doesn't understand why he cannot pick at the fleshy pieces that are sticking off and aggravating him. What do you think is wrong that his skin is peeling off so badly? The skin that is under what has peeled off is extremely dry, scaley, and rough. I have tried moisterizers and everything! Any help?!?

Peeling Hands and Feet can be a sign of strep. Just FYI. This is rare but parents should know about PANDAS strep. Do a search on the web to learn more about it. Saving Sammy on youtube.....Jamie's story on youtube.....there is a girl named Bella on Jamie's story's website. You can get more info from The International PANDAS Foundation.

my grandsons toes re doing the same thing. They just startedbpeeling a couple days ago and now they are burnng and itching andhis toes are very red.
I know this thread is old as the hills but I thought I'd chime in. I'm a 26-year-old woman and back in late June/Early July I had a case of Strep Throat (which I was totally unaware of and just got tested because my doctor noticed my throat was red and had blisters... didn't hurt at all). A couple weeks after getting over it, I ended up coming down with a fever bouncing between 101 and 103 that lasted for 2 weeks. I went to the hospital more times than I can count to find out what the heck it was. The first few times they just kept saying it was a viral infection and to take Tylenol so I went to the ER a town over. They told me it was a flare-up of Mono (I had it when I was 16 and the virus can pop back up sometimes). I let it go at that even though my throat didn't hurt at all. After the fever broke, my fingers started peeling like crazy and then my feet started. First it was my toes and in between them and now on the soles of my feet & heels, they're still peeling. In hindsight I think it was Scarlet Fever or Kawasaki Disease, even though for someone at my age, that'd be extremely rare. I'm going back to the doctor Friday for a check-up so I'll bring it up and see what he says.
This happened to my son years ago. At the time they ran blood work and everything was normal. The doctor figured it was a reaction to some meds he had been on for an ear infecton. Because it happened a week or so after he stopped taking his meds, I didn't link the peeling with a possible allergy. Don't get too freaked out, just speak to your doctor about any meds your child had been taking, including any pain and fever relievers.
Go to your local doctor and ask about kawasaki. this may be the reason for your childrens symptoms
My 20 month old son got fifths disease, then his feet and hands started peeling when the rash went away.
YES, my son when he was a young child had peeling fingers and his doctor said he had
Scarlet Fever caused by Strep infection. Antibiotics cleared it up. If untreated can cause heart damage.
Before letting all these people and their theories get to you and stress you senseless for probably nothing, its simple. Bring him to a doctor, to ensure its not just the shedding that comes with us every 7-8 years. Some skin shedding is absolutely normal in children and has absolutely nothing to do with streptocoque n so on.... Asking for medical advice on a forum, especially one in regards to skin without proper pictures to examine.... well you're going to hear all sorts of stories and all sorts of things that are completely irrelevant. The first thing I would have tried is a good skin scrub, personally.
my son just turned 7. recently he had a fever and since then his skin falls from all his body. the skin beneath is scaly and very dry. no matter how much moisturiser I use it dries up in minutes...he's
dropping dandruffs on beddings , his clothes, floor its bad!
What did Dr. Say?
My 10 month old sons fingertips are peeling as well and I don't know what to do. He drinks plenty of fluids an I keep him moisturize. He hasn't been sick or anything like that. What should I do?
Hi my 11 1/2 year old is peeling just like you described your son to be peeling. No redness, no pain never had a fever. It started a few weeks ago and I blew it off thinking it was something he was doing to himself, told him to stop and watched him as the weeks rolled by. Now he has a bit of dryness on both feet. His hands have smsll areas. Not huge or and no falling of the skin. How is your son doing? I've read so many scary stories so far in only 10 minutes of searching the web I can't see his Doctor til Monday & your story seemed to be the closest thing I've found to his symptoms without all the other scary stuff.
