Heyyy my brother just came out of a car crash& has an hip operation , however his fret & toes are having shooting pains and he cannot straighten his leg.
I broke my hip in 2017 and I still have numbness in my knee. How long does it take for nerves to regenerate?
I am 4 yrs post both hips replaced. I have seen 7 orthopedists and 4 neurologists, they all say the same thing. It is unexplainable why some hip implant recipients have these severe neuropathic symptoms but it is NOT THAT RARE! All that cane be done is treat the pain as best as you can with whatever medication works for you. Be very careful with the nerve meds I had a horrible reaction to Lyrica, and worse with Gabapentin. I continue to worsen, can't ride a bike anymore, can't even swim; extremely depressing. I recommend Praying!
Hi I was wondering how the nerve transplant with Dr.Nath went? My mother is in a similar situation and hoping there is something that can help her foot drop and nerve pain. Any information you can pass along would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks!
hello, is there in Improve in your case???
I had THR on left hip 1-18-22 and woke up with numb leg and foot. It's excruciating pain that never goes away. That foot is always swollen, COLD, feels like the skin has been burned off of it. Have to use a cane to walk. It's now been 6 long months since the THR and NOTHING has changed!!! I'm speaking with an Attorney!!! My quality of life is NOT GOOD.
I realize it's been years since you posted about your dad. May I ask what ever happened? Did you take the Surgeon to Court? I'm in same boat .
I had left posterior hip replacement in 2016. About 6 months later I started to get numbness in my toes on the right side. Over time it progressed to the entire bottom of my foot and then the left side started with the same thing. Both sides became worse over time but thr ight side was much worse than the left. I can still use both feet and other than the feet feeling cold all the time, (especially in the winter), there is no pain. This year I had right anterior hip replacement and prior to surgery asked my surgeon if the surgery would make my neuropathy worsen. He gave me an emphatic NO. Immediately after surgery, my right foot and ankle swelled up and I could tell the neuropathy had progressed to the top of my right foot. Over the next few days, I iced the area and kept the foot elevated. No change. Personally, I think surgeons are not being honest about this side effect or maybe hospitals need to be informed about this although, with all the information on it nowdays, you would think they would know.
