I have the same issues, have had a colonoscopy and have tried every trick in the book, I have had this issue mose of my life and am almost 50. I am a runner, about 1000 miles a year, marathons and 50k's... Yoga, tai chi and strength train, exercise has not helped and docs can't find anything wrong... Something isn't working right, but lazy and or diet are not the cause...

I was reading the responses and realized that everyone had the same issues, but all thought it must be related to food. Believe me when I say, or could be that you have parasites. I stopped eating meat (only eating very little amount of chicken), and stopped gluten, breads, rice, oatmeal etc. I eat organic, clean foods, all cooked at home. I even stopped eating one day to see what would happen.. felt okay in the day, pushed on my stomache, went to the bathroom & felt a bit better. I get home and around 7 p.m. I am bloated,
(0 -100) just like that. I am finally realizing that I may have intestinal parasites & bad bacteria, etc. You may have this. If you've done everything, and I mean everything to stop this (eating super clean and eliminating meat, grains, etc.) And you still feel bloated, it's not IBS. Do a colon cleanse, limit surger because they feed off of it, and you should feel better. Your guts health is no joke, it's all connected to your brain, causing depression and lots of other issues. I'm now trying the global healing centers products. Good luck to all who have this problem.

I have the same issue. And often without eating anything all day. Food doesn't seem to make a difference. My issue started right as I entered perimenopause. Anyone else have this timing?

The symptoms became noticably problematic around the time I entered perimenopause, yes. But I don't know exactly when I entered perimenopause. It's possible a correlation could be explained by greater body awareness due to maturity. In hindsight, I think I've had similar although much less severe symptoms my entire life.

I've been bloated to the point where I get very nauseous from it for almost 4 months now. After it started I haven't been able to have an unassisted bowl movement either. I've went to the doctor so many times and keep hearing "Idk" or " try this" and with no luck. My bloating starts in the morning and becomes its worst from 7pm til I fall asleep. I get bloated after everything I eat or drink regardless what it is. I've tried elimination dieting like no glutens, no dairy, no meats, only fruit or veggies. I drink only water and Gatorade everyday and still is just as bad. I also have bad gerd which may be part of my problem but it isn't the cause of my symptoms everyday. I've had every test except a parasite test done at the doctors now with no answers. Any suggestions?

I have been suffering from IBS for over 20 years. The first 19 1/2 years it was with constipation. This last 6 months it has changed to diarrhea. I was totally off coffee for the last 15 years. I starting drinking a big mug of hot coffee in the morning. Low and behold, I could have a soft bowel movement without taking Metamucil. As the weeks went by my evening bloating was terrible. Read Heather Van Vorous two books. IBS an essential guide for the newly diagnosed. The other is Eating For IBS. The medication Buscopan helps me with intestine and back pain. I know your pain and bloating!

I think this is all linked to GMO food. Our bodies aren't designed to digest these foods. I wish I could give up eating to feel normal.

This article about the long-term effects of giardia was interesting and perhaps relevant for some of us: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3870550/#!po=48.8636

I just solved my nocturnal bloating. It had been going on for four years. In my case, I was very active in the morning, then sat around almost the rest of the entire day, working. I was frustrated and neither western medicine nor my natural doctor could fix it. Then I got an idea.

I started doing 15 minutes of exercise between 3:30 and 5pm. And my stomach no longer bloats at night. It is amazing to be relieved of this condition.

I go for a brisk walk. Or I do 15 minutes of power yoga. Or if my girlfriend can accommodate me, I have vigorous sex with her. It just has to be some vigorous activity. Any vigorous activity in the afternoon. And my problem is solved. I hope this helps someone.

I feel bloted every night and can't get any sleep. This has been happening to me for a couple months now.Every night my stomach is swollen and I have the urge to pee a lot. (I'm not pregnant). I do have a cyst on my left ovari; dose this have anything to do with it?

For years I've had issues with nightly stomach bloat- severe, looking like I'm pregnant bloat.

I recently discovered I have pre-diabetes- I'm thin (118lbs)- so don't rule it out if you also are!

Upon altering my diet to account for blood sugar, although I'm still eating many of the same foods I have found my "nightly" bloat is now more like once every couple weeks. I don't know if it'll help anyone else, but following American Diabetes Association suggestions has been a gamechanger for me.

Hi

I have similar issues and was recently diagnosed with endometriosis on the bowel and ovaries. It's not a very well understood disease but if you can get to the right gynae specialist they should be able to help.

Same issue. I am not sure if it is food related. Painful, sleeplessness nights due to waking. The bloating and distended stomach is driving me crazy. Done every test and still nothing

I know this is an old thread, but I've had night time bloating now for almost a year. I do not eat anything with sugar, dairy, grains, legumes, or processed foods. I've just had a colonoscopy/endoscopy and an EUS for the pancreas. (which found sludge and small stones from my gallbladder, other tests were fine) I have IBD, diabetes, Graves Disease. I can literally watch my belly expand at night. I do not have gas nor constipation. I'm wondering if it could be a gallbladder problem. I'm going to try some of the suggestions given here, ginger/probiotics/meadowsweet tea. As someone stated previously, our digestive system is so important to our brains. Best of luck to all and thanks for the input.
