I had the Novasure procedure about 6yrs ago because I would have 2 month long periods. Now, I am having very similar problems. For over a week I have had excruciating pain in my lower right abdomen. I have been to the ER twice this week. I was given Torodol on the first visit and Morphine on the 2nd. A CT scan was normal. I have lived off narcotic pain meds all week. The ER told me to see my gastro doctoeleven though I had a colonoscopy in January. I did as they said but I knew it wasn't my colon. I also saw a gyn. It was a new doctor as mine has quit working to be a stay home mom.  That his doc did a vaginal ultrasound but said it was normal and to just go home and push a lot of fluids and acted very irritated when I told her that I had to find a doctor that could find out what is wrong with me. I was in so much pain at that time I could barely walk and was crying. I have a very high pain threshold but this was about to bring me to my knees. Now back to my gastro doc. He is sending me to a surgeon on Tuesday for the possibility of laparoscopy because he certainly feels that something needs to be addressed. I will keep you posted with my progress. Maybe the surgeon will solve the mystery and it might be info that could lead you to the right diagnosis.  Sorry, I have a lot of typo errors. Stupid spell check on my iPad.

I hope you feel better soon!

OMG!!! I thought I was the only one going through this. I had the ablation first done in May/2012, my dr did several

ways of trying to get it to take however, it failed.  I was so upset and opted to try again in November/2012 when I

had a scare of ovarian cysts...so I went in on Nov/2012 had a laparscopy and ablation...it was successful...however

beginning in January of 2013 I started getting these extreme abdominal pains in the middle of the night, waking me!

I went to the ER,,,they did ultrasounds and found nothing. I went to my doctor and she just wrote me a prescription

for pain meds. Each month the pain is getting WORSE!! A trip to the urgent care, the next month...possibly another

cyst maybe an eruption??? NO....now it's March I recently had another bout with this pain took off work and went

to my primary doctor...they had me rushed to the ER which was right across the street and I was given some morphine

and something for nauseau.....Ct of abdomen and more ultrasounds to tell me it;s something called mittleschmirz which

is pain during ovulation...I have never had this until after the ablation...now this pain every month is the story of my LIFE.

I am going to my primary doctor today for a follow up to see if she can prescribe me a low dose of birth control pills to

stop me from ovulating, and I am HOPING this will take care of the pain each month that I am experiencing.

go to doctor and tell them that you are having what feels like "contractions" not menstual cramps. They will do an ultrasound and find out that you have MAJOR scar tissue at bottom of uterus from and the fluid/blood can't get out (post ablation)...so your uterus is contracting to get it out because that is the only thing the uterus knows to do in that situation.

they can do a D&C and clear out all the scar tissue or you can opt for a hysterectomy. I just got answers last week after LITERALLY wishing that i had an epidural for the pain..I am going for the hysterectomy, I am 43 and I am done "trying" to fix my periods.

You are describing my experience. I had heavy bleeding and had a doctor tell me to check with my OBGYN about the Novasure ablation. I did have a laproscopy too and she found endometriosis and she removed it. But about 3 months later, pain started. Like cramping during period, but no period. Like my body wants to have one, but can't. Then it has continued every month and has gotten worse. I, too, feel like I have to go to the bathroom, but can't have a bowel movement. It hurts horrible. I swell up so much I can't hardly get my pants buttoned at times. It's horrible. I take a pain med my OBGYN perscribed. She told me she thinks the endometriosis grew back. She said I could have a "new" injection which will throw me into menapause and eventually kill the endometriosis cells. But after reading all of these post, I'm scared. I think they are covering up something. I think a hysterectomy might be my only real choice. I am unsure what to do. Mad I had the ablation!

I had The Novasure in March 2009 & went on to have 3 years of bliss! THEN, it happened! The pain is the worst ever, worse than labour & its still here ....I can see no way out....my Gyne said she couldnt understand my symptoms!!!! They found fluid filled collections in my womb but have done nothing. There is no bleeding (it cant get out because of the scar tissue!)....just PAIN .Help!

I am having the exact same pain and all I do is live in the ER and they have no idea what the novasure is either. I live off of pain meds and I have gained weight. The pain is horrific and it didn't start until my periods quit. It goes down the right side of my back, leg, and pelvic area. None of the test at the ER show anything. My weekends and workdays have become miserable and embarrassing because no one has linked anything to the pain. BS

Sounds to me like Asherman's Syndrome.
Look it up on the Internet....there's a very useful site.
It could also be ADENOMYOSIS, theres a site for that too.
I have eventually got my Gyne to agree to a Hysterectomy but I have to lose 3 stone first!
So, its Mefenamic acid for pain until I reach the 3 stone weight loss....not happy.
Hope this helps.

To all of the ladies out there that have horrible "labor like" pain after having the NovaSure endometrial ablation, I had the NovaSure procedure done in December of 2010. I was extatic to be relieved of my very heavy and irregular periods. Unfortunately, in June of 2011 the pain started. I went to the ER numerous times over the last few years as well as even more doctor appointments, ultrasounds, and tests. I was put on pain medication for the week of pain I was in every month, but even that didn't take it away. My OBGYN came to the conclusion that I needed a hysterectomy. He said he couldn't be sure if it would 100% fix the pain issue but it was worth a shot seeing that I had been in pain like that for over two years. I had the hysterectomy in August of this year (2013) and I have never felt better! I actually celebrated when I was free of pain the first month! When I went back to my doctor for my one week check-up after my hysterectomy I found out some very interesting information that I would like to share with you: THE ABLATION FAILED. (Of course I came to this conclusion long before my doctor did...) Then he said: after doing a biopsy of my uterus, they found that the scar tissue from the ablation did not adhere to my uterus like it was supposed to. Instead, it fell away and the pain I was having WAS labor pain because my body was trying to expell the scar tissue but couldn't. Well, isn't that just fantastic?! So, my suggestion to anyone out there considering an ablation... DON'T DO IT!! Although I am grateful I don't have the pain anymore, the medical bills I accumulated due to the ablation are outrageous. I am taking action in any way I can. I hope I helped someone.

I had my procedure done in June 2012 and have been experiencing the same pains especially on the right side and up my rectum ever since. I got nothing but a run around from the ob stating no way could it be from the procedure and any other doctor I speak to looks at me like I have 3 heads. I am in more pain now than before I let the doctor talk me into this....what do I do?

Just wondering what your OB/GYN has said. I just had the exact same thing after 7 years post ablation. Severe cramps and a little bleeding in the last 6 months. I am at my moms the other day and I said oh I think my bladder just went and no it was blood bright red and two twoonie size clots just like before my ablation.i am wondering if this means I can get pregnant now? Help

I do. I had the procedure done and I can't not stand the pain I feel once a month I literally go into what seems labor pains. I went to see my obgyn and he recommend a partial hysterectomy or another ablation. This is horrible!! Is there a class action lawsuit or something.. I want to sue. I am in so much pain its so bad I want to die
