About a year and a half ago my hands started burning, tingling, pain during the day. I was driving our riding lawn mower at the time and had to shake my hands off and on to get them to temporarily stop. Recently (approx. 2 months ago my neck, shoulders, elbows, and esp. my wrists and hands began giving me intense pain. They hurt so bad at night I had to sit up on the side of the bed and let my arms "hang down" to stop the misery. I tried ice and couldn't stand the pain and so applied the heating pad and that seemed to intensify the pain. I tried many pain pills w/o effect till I took Tylenol #3 @ bedtime (1) and if I wake up I take 1 more or I have trouble dressing in the a.m. My fingers feel swollen when this is going on and I even had to remove the rings on my right hand. I have intermittent neck pain and intermittent headaches. I have muscle pain in my right thigh muscle that it extends from the knee to the hip and is excrutiating when I am ambulating. I am at my wit's end d/t the pain. I take Cymbalta, Tyl.#3 @ bedtime, and Vocodin and Tylenol artheitis during the daytime.
Hey Guy and gals. Iv been a chef for 14 years . Im 30 with the same pain day in day out. Some insite i do have is know what the issue is ! In my case im righty with 90% of movement including useing a knife . I have knumbing of both hands when i sleep, so i know its not carpal tunnel in my hand. I had an MRI done and it came back my L3 L4 L5, S1 are buldging, my pain manegment Doc Swears it has nothing to do with my lumbar. I have no idea what to belive and im not just going for epidoral shots because a doctor says so. Its risky to some exstent and short term. But the pain interfears with life to the point u will do anything to just be happy again. We all need help but to bad were not the 1%, nobody will invest money with all now a day tec. We all have to keep suffering and play lab rat with all the differant BS medacations that dont even work. Nabumetone,Gabapetin, and the worst of all Tramadl. Just give me something to stop my joints from swelling and a painkiller so I can work to support myself. What helps is physical theropy , differant streches and core training to get blood flowing to joints. Then combonation of Heat Packs , TENS , and ultrasound for 15 mins each to the strength you perfer. I hope this helps u out a little bit . CREdad
After reading most of these post it suddenly dawn on me, while my hand was holding my computer mouse that ... that's exactly where my pain is. The way I hold my computer mouse. it's like a torch of fire running from my right-hand thumb to my pointing finger while the rest of it feels sort of numb and stiff. This pain/weird feeling always wakes me out of my sleep. And only happens when I sleep. Sometimes this buzzing hot pain travels through to parts of my arm depending on how I'm sleep (If I'm sleeping on top of my right arm-hand). I was wondering if this is a presign of a up and coming stoke or heart attack from a clogged vein or artery or something working it's way out of my thumb-finger-hand. The things you think about at 3:00 a.m. when this sh!t wakes you up out of a wonderful sleep! Lol
One thing I noticed... it doesn't come every night, but usually after I've eatin something bad or greasy like a whole bag (adult size) of Lays potato chips, or BBQ pork ribs, or fried chicken. I noticed it after eating a bag of salty sunflower seeds too. It seems salt controls the freeze feeling. I have to shake it out or it will stay that way.
I've noticed that drinking more that usual (for me) water and taking B-12, Folic, Magnesaum and Chromium has helped it go return less frequently. I don't know if it's linked by any one or all of the above, but I do notice a difference.
My problem is basically the same but my hands swell up like 1/2inch it's so bad it burnssssssssss my hands and arm and numbs them and I can't get it back to normal for like an hour it's so bad I cry the whole time cause I can't even put my fingers straight and finally when it goes away my middle and ring finger stay numb for like 3 hours is crazy how we all feel these pain I always say I would never enemy the person I dislike the most o feel how I feel my husband worries so much cuz I'm 24 and now my left wrist pops out of place and I literally have to pop it back in place
I have it too! I had this happen before tho As well about a year ago.. Now with this I also got a bump in my wrist. It is as hard as a rock. The bump went away and so did that horrible burning feeling, I noticed last week my hand was falling a sleep again and I saw the bump was back. Yesterday while I was at work it felt like there was an elastic inside my hand breaking or something then the excruciating pain began after I fell asleep last night.. I've been up with this pain all night
I have the EXACTly the same thing going on, for quite a few years now off and on,about 6 yrs.. but the pain & swelling is getting worse then ever, i can't even pick my baby up. And it had moved into my left arm now,, so i wake up crying in pain with both hands & arms..swollen and tingleing they have the pins & needles like they r falling to sleep.at the same time,so swollen i can't close my hands, they are numb but burning and hurting all at the same time.I have to sit up & hang my arms down beside the bed, just to get a bit of releafe. then when its real bad, i have to get up and walk around. hanging & shakeing my arms beside me.. ITS REAL BAD.. i can't even close them enough to take the cover off my babys bottle.. IF THERE IS ANYONE WHO MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP ME FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG WITH ME
I also started having tingling and numbness in my hands at night from my thunb to my fourth finger. This was after using a walker after hip surgery with femur fracture and I was nonweight bearing for 6 weeks. I told my ortho doctor about the occurance and he stated he never heard of that happening. I'm sure I did some type of nerve damage. It use to occur only at night and would go away. I've had a few times with the burning pain occurance. Now I've noticed I am having the tingling and numbness off and on during the day. I'm looking for a book on massage therapy with good detail as I too do not want to spend a forture for treatment/tests.
I have starting getting the same symptoms as everyone has decribed above. It came on gradually though. One morning the pain was so bad and it took so long to wake my right hand. Then all day I had pain going up my arm to the back of my neck. I went to my Dr the next day, and he said it was CARPAL TUNNEL. He gave me a wrist splint to sleep in every night and it hasnt happened since.
Your story sounds strangely familiar I'm 31 with 6 boys and like clock work around 530-6am I wake up with my knuckles feeling like they're on fire ...it's so painful nothing I do helps so I just have to ride it out I'm wondering if taking an anti.inflammatory b4 bed will help?! but this just started happening out of nowhere I saw this was posted some time ago wondering what the outcome ever was
How nifty that so many of us have same prolem-- does anyone, though, have a solution/something we can do to ease/prevent the pain of it? I mean is this site just here -- like so so so many other sites, just to gather sympathetic fellow suffers? I'll look again later.
I have a lot of medical issues (too many to go into detail right now), but I have recently started having the exact same problem that you all are describing. Due to some of my medical issues I can only comfortably sleep on my left side, so repositioning to my back, stomach, right side, etc. is a problem for me.
What I have going on is: At night when I am sleeping my non-dependent arm (the arm that is up which is usually my right arm, considering I usually only sleep on my left side) will swell, have a terrible burning, and pins and needles sensation, and pain, pain, pain. It feels as though I could shoot fire out of my fingertips at any given moment. If I attempt to move or massage it, the pain and burning becomes even worse. It seems the only way to get it to ease up is to get up out of the bed and remain in an upright position, and move around the house using that hand and arm for a lengthy amount of time. Athough the swelling remains often the majority of the day (especially in my middle finger), then at night when I lay back down all the issues start all over again.
The reason I mentioned it occurring in my non-dependent arm is because under "normal conditions" lol which we all know there is nothing "normal" about this problem, but anyway, under normal conditions the majority of swelling would occur in the area/extremity that was in the down, or dependent position. To attempt to see if this consistently occurs this way, I have (although very uncomfortable for me to do), have turned to my right side to sleep, and guess what, my left arm swelled, burned, and had the pins and needles effect, instead of my right arm/hand? It's always, in my case, the non-dependent arm that is affected, I'm not sure if that is the same way in all your cases, but it's something you might want to check out because I found this to be an odd reversal of the way the fluids in our body should naturally travel which could help us all find the cause of this issue. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and hopefully relief for us allis close by.
