To the 16 yr old Or anyone for that matter ..
Always get checked out . My son started with chest pain at young age . He also has high blood pressure while in high school . He's not overweight and watches what he eats. He takes high blood pressure pills daily. It doesn't matter how old you are. Always get checked out it. If not a heart condition can worsen or be fatal without proper care. Not trying to scare anyone but This is your heart And you need to take care of it.

hi my left side chest sharp pain again again.. I checked my cholesterol. it was normal . plz suggest me
Iv just spent half my morning with the same pain. I first notice this pain when i was fifteen years old and i am now twenty seven and can not lye on my left side for any longer than ten minutes. My boyfriend insisted i go to the docters. So i did only to be told its anxiety problems. I dont think its anxiety at all because i am calm and relaxed when sleeping. I feel like the docters think im blowing the wind up there skirts because of my age or that iam just seeking some attention. Im NOT.
Sounds like you had pneumothorax, pneumonia or pleurisy. When painful while breathing often means lung problems. Sharp pain pleurisy? One should never wait when having chest pains, as they can be life threatening, such as heart attack angina, collapsed lung, etc.
Didn't find any results on this ?
Did it feel slightly better if you laid on right side. It's not every night, but most nights I get pain on my left side in my chest that takes my breath away. If I roll on to back it still hurts but eases up after about ten minutes.it feels like fluid build up intense pain like can't breath, but I'm right side it doesn't hurt at all. Don't have acid reflux problems. Do have tachycardia. ..sometimes all the time, other times intermittently. Does this sound like you? Oh, if I press hard down into my chest left side, the pain eases up for a few seconds.
I have given up on trying to figure out the problem and have just accepred that I will have this pain for the rest of my life... I was told by a doctor that it is "intercostal neuralgia" which just means "in between the ribs, nerve pain". I have tried gabapentin and numerous other prescriptions, along with nerve blocks and steroid injections, all to no avail. it's very frustrating because I can only get quality sleep when I lay on my right side, which after all these years of sleeping on right side, the right side of my body aches, or becomes numb, and my right ear hurts from always laying on it... I find myself tossing and turning most nights because I can't get comfortable enough to sleep. The pain comes when I lay any which way except on my right side...
This definitely sounds similar! I hope you are able to get better results than I've had, and please let me know if you are ever chest-pain free!
I totally understand, I've even been told by a doctor that since I'm not dead from it yet, it must not be fatal... It may not be fatal, but the sleep deprivation it causes in turn causes numerous other problems
Hi everyone. I'm 18 so quite young too and I've had very sharp chest pains in my left hand side for around 3 years now. Reading these posts makes me think it could be to do with stress as a family break up 3 years ago also left me with a lot of stress which would often give me similar pains and heart palpitations. Anyway, as it had been going on for so long, I put off going to the doctors but recently within the last 3 months I am now completely unable to lay on my left side to sleep and can only sleep on my right hand side too. I often get this sharp pain at random other times when I'm not laying down. The pains are sharp to the extent that I have to sit bolt up right and grab my chest and slowly breathe in and out to ease them although they easily last around 3-4 seconds. I went to the doctors a few weeks ago and was told it's probably something called Costachrondritis which is apparently an inflammation between my lungs and sternum although to be honest, I was in there 5 seconds and it seemed like a rash diagnosis. She told me I also had a heart mumur (which I had already known) although she seemed quite worried that it had never been checked out before. Anyway, the pain seems more in my heart than around my lungs but I have an echocardiogram Friday - I'll let you know how this goes. Has anyone else had an echocardiogram and knows what it's like? What the outcome might be? I'm still young so have no idea what to expect as I've never been to the hospital for anything like this before! Thanks.
Hi I wanted to ask if you were ever able to get more information on this? Did they do more testing?
I was having the same issue for years (at least 4 years), I used to feel like someone is catching and pressing my heart when I sleep on my left side and some times on both sides. Now, the pain completely disappeared, after a three months diet, and some work out (not too much). I can finally sleep on my left side without any issues. Don't eat too much, eat healthy and burn calories.
I have the same experience. What can I do
I'm 24 and have been taking birth control for years and within the last year switched to Yasmin. Also within the last year I've been experiencing chest pain while lying on my left side. I'm wondering if theres a connection. What did your doctor say?
I am Addison and I have the same problem with lieing on my side but I'm only 7 so I can't go to the doctor
