Well not sure I want to live anymore with the amout of pain I have so I said bring it on getting cut aug13th will let you know.
I HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS, BUT I ONLY HAD IT FOR 1 DAY. I HAD THIS SAME PAIN A FEW YEARS AGO WITH SOME OF THE SAME SYMPTOMS . ANYWAY, I GOT TO HACKING ONE NIGHT AND SOMETHING POPPED OUT OF MY TONSIL. IT SMELLED AND TASTED LIKE MOLDED BREAD. I CANT REMEMBER IF MY JAW AND GUMBS HURT LAST TIME. HUMM, I'M GOING TO THE MD NEXT WEEK. ILL COME BACK LATER ON WITH THE MD'S DIAGNOSIS. TTYL
all of these posts sound similar to something I went through a few years back. I constantly had this nagging pain under the jaw and this lump would swell up and make it hard to swallow foods and liquids because it hurt so much, and because of it's size. I had this lump for two and a half years before I finally saw one doctor that took me seriously and decided to listen to what I had to say. He was an ENT doc and he diagnosed it as a tumor in the gland and I had it surgically removed. Go back to your docs people and don't leave until you have an answer you are satisfied with. Good luck to all:o)
I have a very similar problem.. I have lumps under the Jaw on both sides. If I move my head back, the lumps hide under the jaw and cannot be felt but when I try to touch the chin to my chest moving my head down, the lumps pop out and can be felt easily. When touched both of these lumps move only in one direction, back under the Jaw. I have had this for years and the pain seems to come back when I have sore throat or some mouth infection. Can anyone please shed any light ?
I have EXACTLY what you are describing, but I have no idea what it is either. I really wish someone could tell us. Have you found out anything?

You could have a neurological condition called glossopharyngeal neuralgia. It took many months for my condition to be diagnosed since it is quite rare.
I have problems with acid reflux. I use the max. amount of tums every day. Also my gums are swolen and bleed very easy. I wish someone could help me. The pain in my neck started after a long weekend of drinkin and smoking cigs. I figured the cigs caused it, but my gums started bleeding 2 weeks ago, during the week, when i dont smoke. I chew tobacco as well, but on the bottom. The gums on top are the ones bleeding. The pain in my neck also hurts to the touch. Plus its hard to swallow. I hope someone figures somethin out.
The article (linked below) talks about a bunch of causes for the submandibular gland pain/tenderness. My pain comes and goes, typically coming when I'm run down or about to get sick. I wonder if it's a staph flare-up, or some other bacterial infection that just never really goes away completely. I think my prob is different from the TMJ and the reflux probs. Pain radiates towards the ear sometimes, too - maybe another salivary gland's involved? I have to think the cough/throat clearing problem is related, since it also involves mucous.
I have pretty much the same symptoms as everyone here has mentioned, but I have no pain in my neck or soreness anywhere else but my tempromandibular joint and it reaches up into my ear and temple a bit. there are some swollen lymph nodes around the area.
It was a slow onset of about 3 days, it seemed to be tapering off a bit but just a few hours ago the pain returned and it's hard to even open my mouth to put something in it to eat. To make matters worse, it's christmas eve so no doctors are open, lol.
I hope it's not too serious!

Ok, I think you's are all nuts, but the one who wrote in... I am having the same problem as the very first person who started this question.... I'll explain my problem. Then give you my diagnosis. And then the biggest problem...
I have a small lump under my throat, that does not move.... No, mine is not cancer... and this is coming from someone who has had breast cancer. and I'm not worried....
My problem is my teeth, and I know it. my wisdom teeth are coming in sideways. And at the time when it was noticed, 5 years ago, there was no pain. I had health insurance, however it was not recommended that they be taken out just yet.
But now my teeth are in pain every month or so. I haven't had pain in about 2 weeks, but today my jaw feels like there's a jelly bean stuck under my jaw, and it's driving me crazy But the worst news of all, No insurance.. !!!! Good Luck

I have exactly what you have described. Chronic pain just behind my left jaw bone that radiates up to my ear. Sore throat and pain on the left side of my throat when I swallow. These symptoms have some out of nowhere. I don't even get sick. No colds or flu. I found some info that may point to Fibromatosis. I also have some of the lumps that were descibed by others, however, these lumps are in my extremities (forarms and legs). What the heck is the cause of this pain. Please post as you get more info.
maybe you need to get a root canal bc i need one and the pain is bad too and when i finally got my root canal the pain ended.
could it be glandular fever by any chance?
I have a problem since November, where the left side of my throught was sore. I have then been put on 2 different antibiotics. The problem then left me for about a month. For the last month i have been on 3 different antibiotics after developing flu. The left side of my throught was sore again and it has spread to my ear. When the "infection" cleared from the ear i developerd a numb sinsation over my face and a pain under my chin which travels fron left to right i am still feeling this after being put on cortersone medication. I am going back to the doctor tomorow. Has anybody had any symptoms like this?
I am thankful for your responses. I have been suffering with the about under jaw pain, gum pain and headaches..and just had a impacted INFECTEd wisdom tooth removed 3 days ago. It still hurts but I have not taken my antibiotics properly. But I started today so I hope this is indeed the problem, there certainly seems to be a connection.
Ive had a lump wedged under my ear behind my jaw bone for almost 4 years now. When it decides to flare up, its almost intolerable to eat from the pain. Ive went to many doctors and theyve come up with nothing. The most believable explanation was an infected salivary gland, however it never went away with the antibiotics or many courses of antibiotics for many other illnesses. Not quite sure whats going on in there, but best of luck with finding an answer.
