hi i am so glad i have found out what the problem is. i have this lump in the same place and i currently have both tonsilitis and conjunctivitis so this will explain my lump. if it gets worse though i will go to the docs as it is quite painful
thanks all
i have a ;ump in front of my ear above my jaw line, it is painful, i was concerned as i have not been ill but have been having problems with my ear for a while now and have been told i have tinnitus so could its be an infection or a blockage tht has been causing the tinnitus! i have had it now for 3 months non stop! but only noticed this lump this week
I just found a small lump about the size of a pea on my jaw near my earlobe. I also have a reddish pouch under my eye which looks like it could turn into a black eye, and it might be related to the lump. If they don't go away in a few days I will go to the Dr.
I just got diagnosed with an ear infection and I am on day two of my antibiotics. My ear has been killing me and today I felt a lump like everyone else has been describing in front of and below my left ear on my jaw. Its extremely painful to touch but so is the rest of ear. I think it is a swollen lymph node like everyone else is saying but if it doesnt go away I am going back to the dr.
When my son was around 13 he started complaining about a knot about the size of a pea below his right ear almost on his jaw bone so during his physical I mentioned it to his DR. and he told me that it was a lymph node and that it would go away. So the next year during his physical I told the Dr. that the "lymph node" was still there and seemed to be getting bigger and again the Dr. told me "I'm sure its a lymph node they are very noticeable during puberty but it is nothing to worry about, but as a mother how could I not worry?. So it's now going on the third year with this growing "lymph node" and now my son can't eat nor sleep because of the pressure the knot is putting on his jaw so I told the Dr. this and he actually touched the mass on my sons jaw (which is now a size between a nickle and a quater but not round in shape)says well I dont believe it to be a serious problem but we will keep a close eye on it. As soon as I walked out of the office I began looking for another Dr. as well as trying to do some research on the net and after a few months my sons dentist suggested that I make him an appt with ear, nose and throat specialist so I did. At this point in time my son was 16 and the growth was a little bigger than a 50 cent piece and it sticks out like he has something in his mouth all the time. The Dr. did all kinds of test and scans on it and found that it was Cystic Hygroma which a person is born with and he couldnt understand why it just began to manifest. None the less he just had surgery last week and it was actually bigger than it looked it went from back behind the jaw bone right below his ear all the way to the corner of his lips and left untreated (keepping the ever so close eye on it) could have left my son with a paralyzed face because the Hygroma had started growing around the nerve that runs along the jaw. So I would say to you dont wait if you are not sure about what your Dr. says or ask your Dr. to do some testing to ease your nerve.
ouch...have the same bullet like hard lymph that hurts under the skin right next to ear on jaw bone lymph...i just noticed it today and freaked out that its cancer,,,, but my nose been feeling like im getting a flu so maybe its came out to try to fight of the flu like sm1 here said...i will wait couple days hope it goes away...
My fiance also has one but it is not a boil or a lymph node, it's a cyst! He has to take medication for five days and if it does not go away or at least shrink it will have to be surgically removed. I would suggest going to the doctor just to get checked cause those are painfull if they explode!!!
OMG, i also have this one... i felt it 6 days ago, during the first 2 days it was painful, that's why i noticed it. It is right beside my left ear, a bit upper than the earlobe. It is like a squishy marble which move when you touch it. Like some sames it disappear when i open my mouth.
I've got this after i have my dermarolling (microneedling) session, and my face was swollen all over after it. Hopefully this is just the reason and nothing more serious.
I also think i have TMJ, popin/clicking sounds when i open/close my mouth, also have jaw pain, also have a little cold which block my throat this past days.
Hopefully it is notthing serious.. will let you know after i visit the doctor afte Christmas!
Merry Christmas Everyone! Stay safe :)

I found this website because I too, have a little sore lump just above the bottom jawbone. My ear was clogged w/ wax and I used Murine ear wax softener. I've used a syringe w/ warm water after the Murine, so I COULD have an ear infection, but it doesn't feel like one. It could either be a swollen lymph node, but it's only ONE. I didn't read thru all 7 pages of responses, but it could be a boil. Boils can be hard and BIG below the skin. sometimes they come to a head like a pimple, sometimes they don't. You should NEVER squeeze a boil. They go away on their own. You can get them on occasion from excessive skin irritation (similar to a pimple). If you are getting them a lot they can also be an indication of a bacterial infection and a course of antibiotics will take care of it. My guess right now for my bump is a boil from messing w/ my ear for 3 days (I also got a tiny pimple next to my ear on the side of my face), or it IS a swollen lymph node from an ear infection because I got water behind my ear. I'll wait a day or two to see how it progresses. If it appears suddenly and is painful, usually it's an infection. I'll try to remember to post back w/ what happens.
Thanks for writing your experiences on this website guys. I woke up with a swollen area in the exact same spot this morning and was worried that it had something to do about my jaw having to be moved when I had braces. Good to know that it's just a lymph node. What a relief.
I have this same thing its infront of my ear and its been here for about 2 months but i think its just a lymph node...
MINE WENT AWAY IN A WEEK AFTER I GOT OVER THE LITTLE FLU THAT CAME ON.....ALL GOOD NOW
im only 15 and i feel it too it hurts like hell fell like a soft jelly bean but little
Can these cause cancer? I've had a bad tooth and now the same??
I had one a few months back. I went to the doctors. I had a sore throat and stuffy nose. They said it was a swollen gland. Mine kept getting bigger and bigger and was bigger than my other cheek. But it eventually went away. But, I may be experiencing it again.
