I am much younger than your grandmother and had successful parathyroid surgery, was curious about her outcome a year later?
I would stay the hell away from this Dr Norman. Seems like all he does is pop out a tumor, and voila! Youre cured. Not so easy. Do your research. Im post surgery 1 week and had a fantastic Endo in Indianapolis.
I had surgery 3 weeks ago and my neck is still a little stiff as far as picking up my head and as far as the walnut as you call i have the same thing in the same area . Dr said it will go away in time.
Get to Carmel Indiana in Indianapolis. IU North, Dr Hadley Ritter, Endo surgeon. Also the best down there for everything.
It has been almost 3 weeks since my Mirp surgery...and I also have a lump where the scar is, my Doctor said it takes 3 to six months to go away. It's swelling from the surgery and scar tissue is forming. Your not suppose to tilt your head too far back for awhile and your suppose to feel tight sometimes...it's weird but you sound normal to me..
Hi, just a quick message, I have just had my Parathyroidectomy, well 7 days ago, my Calcium levels always came back normal, but my hormone level was out of whack, so you don't have to wait for calcium levels to be high. I am feeling great, I was eating 3 hours after surgery, all I have is a stiff neck due to scarring, but hey! I will just give that time. Good luck all.
Creative touch - I am having the same issue. Did yours go away? Thanks.
what happened...are you better? is the weight issue now resolved?
I had parathyroid surgery a month ago. It's hard to swollow and throat moves upward. I just had another PTH level. It's 147!, calcium is 8.9. Bone pain is horrific! I don't know what to do
A rolling stone gathers NO moss. That's the proverb.
I had one Parathyroid gland removed on July 24. My PTH was 117 and Calcium 10.8
After Surgery PTH was 25, Calcium 9.8. One week later PTH 52, CA 10/8. My MD stopped Calcitriol and told me to take 2000 i.u D3 to help my bones. I a 73 y.o and never had surgery before. All was going well until last Friday when I had gotten a cold earlier in the week. I have a wicked cough and now my throat is all swollen and have a lump sticking out. Can't get me MD to call me back. I am furious, but I know it does take awhile. I also had Cataract surgery last Monday,so I didn't take it easy and that probably didn't help although I felt fine til now. Don't know what I am going to do, but am also getting very depressed.

I recently had parathyroidectomy surgery. I share a lot of your symptoms. I even had the lump in front of my neck for weeks after surgery (maybe even a month or more). I questioned it and was told it was normal, give it time, it will go down. As it turned out, I had serosanguinous fluid draining from my neck. The incision opened twice in two different areas and fluid drained from my neck. My neck feels 'tight' like a rubber band on extension. I feel a swishing in my neck currently with profound constant ringing in my ears. I don't know what bone cancer feels like but my bones hurt terribly bad, especially lower back and hips. I feel hopeless as none of the doctors will address my concerns. Range of motion of my arms has decreased significantly. Cannot get my arms behind my back. I also ended up with a pacemaker for unanswered reasons. Grateful to be alive.

I'm 52. I have never felt this way in my life. I feel like your grandmother. My surgery was 3 months ago. The depression is severe. I can't seem to shake it. Is your grandmother better? What helped?
Hi creativetouch96902, did the lump go away? I had surgery a week ago and I also have a lump in the front of my neck and feel like something is stuck in my throat. I'm hoping this goes away with time?
I did. I had surgery almost 6 months ago and the weight gain has been bad. Horrible cravings.
