This is a straw-man and completely untrue. Where is your evidence to back this up, or are you just making assumptions about what Marijuana does to people? I don't use Marijuana regularly myself-- occasionally at parties-- like I would with drinking, but I know a couple who does use it daily and they have kids. I have spent the night at this couple's house several times (without my daughter) and they were extremely clean, productive, and attentive parents. Every couple hours or so they would go into their room to take a few hits. Then they would go make dinner, the the laundry, help their kids with their homework, clean the house, do the dishes, get the children to bed, read the children a bedtime story, and so on and so forth. They did all of this and they were 'high' the whole time. People who say that parents smoking pot can't take care of their children aren't any more accurate in their statement than say someone who simply says "lots of parents can't take care of their children". Some parents who are educated and good-willed people will be fine parents, maybe even BETTER parents, on pot, say if they are suffering from anxiety or depression. People who are jacked up to begin with and ill-equipped to be good parents may do drugs too, and may become even less capable, or maybe they will abstain and hit their kids. I've never seen a marijuana smoking parent hit their kids, though I'm sure it happens. My point is that some are equipped to be good parents and some are not, and I don't think smoking marijuana has a whole lot to do with it.
Maybe you should encourage your family to smoke in their bedroom or a basement so as not to potentially negatively impact their childrens' health or encourage their behavior one way or another. Unless someone in the family uses it for MEDICAL purposes, there is no reason to have their kids around their habit.
Based on documentaries and articles I have reviewed on the subject, I think it is safe to say that marijuana smoke can definitely have a negative medical impact on children and adolescents. For additional info on the impact that pot smoke has on kids, visit

This study discusses the rapid growth that occurs in the brain of children and adolescent youths, and the manner in which marijuana can impact brain development during this critical period. This study looks only at the impact of THC on children, and does not take into account the various other carcinogens and toxins present in any kind of smoke, whether it be tobacco, pot, or wood for that matter; smoke is just bad... period.
For a person to consume pot safely around children, all societal implications aside, the active ingredients of the drug would need to be absorbed in a manner that creates no risidual exposure for the child. No joints, no pipes, no water bongs... nothing that involves burning. Pills, beverages and food are all options, but a more natural alternative for pot smokers may be a vaporizer.
The active ingredient in pot is THC. When you heat up a chunk of ganja, the THC changes state from solid crystal to a gas vapour. By heating THC to its boiling point but not higher, a vaporizer allows its user to separate and inhale only the THC and none of the harmful toxins that would come with combustion at a higher temperature. This also means that no toxins are released into the immediate environment to be inhaled by nearby children. With THC coming out of the vaporizer at a temperature just above its boiling point, the potential for a child to be exposed to even trace amounts of the drug are minimal.
As far as the 'right or wrong' aspect of exposing your kids to pot, the truth of the matter is that a small percentage of people are always going to smoke pot around their kids. For parents that accept the potential consequences of being open with their kids but want to eliminate the health implications for them, giving up the blunts for a vaporizor should accomplish the goal. For other parents who simply don't care about how marijuana can impact their child's health and development, I highly doubt that anything written here is going to convince them to act otherwise.
I smoke pot around bratty kids. It keeps my mind asleep and in space so i Dont have to hear them. I get high when i teach and just turn on a movie and watch it with the kids and make popcorn. 4th graders are easily intertained.

And how would you know what caused a brain tumor or any other cancer for that matter? Do you think the Dr's treating patients can pin point what caused a tumor? You can't say it does or doesn't. Why risk anything like THC when it comes to your children's health as well as your own?
thats good you dont smoke pot around your kids only showing concern not judging you your an adult but meth is bad dont ever touch it again
I would also like to know as this is very familiar in my family
Your post does not seem very scientifically based, but rather more on your personal opinion. Just so you know, the making, the using, the selling, is all child maltreatment.
YOU are a horrible teacher, and what you have done is of no service to those children, and you will be held accountable for what you have done and what you haven't.
Keep your head up girl! You have a bright future ahead of you! Don't let anyone take that from you!!!
