It's been bugging me for 8 months now. My sensation started last September as a tingly spot between the left shoulderblade and the spine and now I can feel it all over the thoracic-spine area and sometimes along the muscles that go alongside my spine and towards my hips. I could desribe it as a very mild, stinging pain. It usually starts after, like, 30 seconds of standing straight with my legs close together (it is relieved a bit when I move them a bit from each other); sometimes when I sit slouched in a chair with no back support; however, it's worst when I do the dishes - I slightly bend forward and work with my arms in front of me, and it is those times my back as if 'tightens' and produces this stingy-like mild pain (although 'discomfort' seems to be a more suitable word) under the skin. I also feel it more distinctly when I have no t-shirt on. I've been doing the exercise Glenn posted for nearly 2 months but haven't really noticed any big difference. I'm a 22-year-old male, 6'2'' tall, 72 kilograms. My posture has always been poor (head forward, arched upper back, rounded shoulders). I was diagnosed with scoliosis in early childhood, but haven't had it followed-up for over 10 years. However, I asked my GP about it: she looked at my spine, said it was curved and told me to get some swimming and massage (didn't even order an X ray). I used to swim, run and play volleyball a lot, but for the past year I have done hardly any sport. I study at two faculties, so most of the days I just sit at my desk or lie in my bed using my laptop. For the last several months I've been under tremendous stress and had periods when I was so worried I wouldn't eat for several days, but I remeber that the tingling(discomfort/burning/stinging?) in the original spot had appeared even before all this (I mean, I was stressed - I'm generally a worrier - but the worst began more less around January). The sensation I feel is not something particularly bothersome physiaclly - I mean, if I was told I would have to live with it for the rest of my life I'd just say "Ok, whatever". I'd just like to be sure this is not something serious. Greetings to all of you, JB
I just also started having this 3 months ago and just tried googling my symptoms today because nothing I tried worked :( I am overwhelmed by the number of people who have the same condition. Getting a bit emotional because I thought I was the only one and people keep telling me it's probably nothing. Thank you for the link. Will tell the neurologist when I see him for the first time this week.
I too have the same feeling in the back below my right shoulder for the past 3 months. doctors suggest some injured tissues.
I googled those symptoms and greatly surprised to find a post running for more than 7 years on this issue.
I have this tingling sensation in one spot on my shoulder blade ,but there's a painful lump there too, which is growing bigger and bigger. What did you find out was the cause of your tingling?
I've had this tingling in the same spot now for about two years. It's right in the middle of my spine, and as someone mentioned before, about where my bra line is.
I noticed the strange tingling occuring most when I was doing my hair. Having long hair my arms were often raised above my head. I am also overweight and know that weight can cause a lot of strain and stress on the body so I've always wondered if it could have something to do with that.
At times I've also wondered if it were a parasite or a bug or tick or something because it was in such an exact spot. But I have a mole where the tingling was now and have started feeling another tingling right under my left shoulder blade which started today. I finally decided to look it up since it's occuring in more than one place.
my condition is same as yours. and i guess i figured out what it is. it is notalgia paresthetica.why dont you search it for more help.
I've had a similar sensation just below my shoulder blade off and on for over 20 years. I saw a neurologist back then and was told this is a syndrome (don't recall the name) that means "numb spot on back". I was told it affects mostly females for some reason. I have numerous family members with serious neurological problems so I assume this is spinal cord related. I'm thrilled that this is my only issue... P
I've had symptoms like these. Tingling in my upper back near my right shoulder blade just to the right of my spine. Bruising shows up. It seems I have a pinched nerve From a rib being displaced. Chiropractor needs to re adjust me...
This is bizarre, I have exactly the same symptom of a strange tingling numbness just under my right shoulder blade. It started suddenly 2 or 3 weeks ago and seems to be getting more frequent. I do sit at a computer most of the time for my job but have done the same job for over 10 years so why would it suddenly just start now. Has anyone any idea what it is?
I too have the same tingling feeling on my back for a number of years, and also have two herniated disks. Sounds to me that my tingling feeling is also coming from that. Thanks so much for you comment. I will be talking about this with my Dr. Thanks, again!
I have been experiencing something similar for months, years infact. It's ontop of my left shoulder. My concern is, this spot that I usually get that tingling sensation is not a breeding ground for a colony of some kind of cancerous cells. It's not pain, not really tingling either. It's kind of a feeling one would get if she would vibrate just that segment of skin, for example like what a cow would do to chase away flies that would want to sit on a would in her skin.
