okay, im 17 and been having sex for about a year now. I got one today...and i never got one before. Is it sweat or should my partner and I get tested? It makes no sense to me because weve been using condoms, and this happend.
this is a little embarrassing, but this morning i woke and there was a red pimple like bump on my lebia, but there was no head in it. I tried to pop it anyways but it really hurt and blood just came out. I am 16 and have not had sex before. Any suggestions?
I get these occasionally, and I've been to the gynocologyst about it. He said it's an infected gland, and that when it gets a head on it you can take a warm bath and pop it. They are painful for me at times, and popping them definitely gives fairly quick relief.
I get them regularly. My doc said they could be hormone related or just an infected hair follicle. I usually pop them when they get a head. I've found that a bath as hot as you can stand will help it come to a head if it hasn't yet. Just make sure that if you have lots of pain or they change that you contact your doc asap.
Causes of Pimple on Labia
There are many possible causes of pimple labia. Some possible causes include:
Hormones. A labia pimple is especially common among women going through menopause and pregnant women, when hormones may be “out of whack.” They are not uncommon in adolescents, either, when hormones are changing.
Stress. Stress can cause acne, including a pimple on labia.
Drugs. Pimple labia can be a side-effect of many prescription medications. If you begin to develop pimples on your labia after starting a new medication, talk to your doctor. You may need to try a different medication if your pimples are severe enough to cause much discomfort.
Ingrown Hair. An ingrown hair can cause a pimple. It will usually work itself out, but if it doesn’t, you may end up needing to see a doctor for it. Ingrown hairs are more likely to occur if you shave the area, so be careful.
Hygiene. Excessive sweating can cause labia pimples to develop. Try to keep the area as clean and dry as possible. Wearing cotton underpants also helps prevent sweating. Over washing or using harsh, abrasive soaps may also cause pimples.
Diet. Certain foods can cause flare-ups of pimples. These foods may vary from person to person, but in general, if you eat a healthful diet and drink plenty of water, you’ll have better skin.
Treatment for Pimple on Labia
Often, a labia pimple will go away on its own. You don’t have to do anything to it. There are, however, things you can do to speed healing and reduce discomfort.
Do:
Wash the area several times a day with a gentle cleanser. An excellent all-natural choice is ClearSkin Skin Wash.
Pat the area dry after washing.
Wear cotton underpants. This helps to prevent sweating, which can cause pimple labia.
Apply a gentle pimple treatment, if needed. ClearSkin-A Gel is an excellent choice to treat acne.
Try some natural remedies. Lavender essential oil is a good cleanser. Tea tree oil has antiseptic qualities and is another good one to use.
Try a warm bath to relieve discomfort.
Don’t:
Touch the labia pimple more than you have to. You can irritate it, and you can also spread infection that way.
Try to pop a pimple on labia. You could end up making it worse.
Scratch or pick at the area. Breaking the skin could lead to an infection. Picking and scratching will also further irritate the area.
Use harsh cleansers or pimple treatments. The area is too sensitive for harsh treatments.
When to See a Doctor
See a doctor if you have pimple labia on a frequent basis. Your doctor can help you figure out what is causing the pimples and how to prevent them.

I also have one of these annoying little visitors. I'm am kinda worried. Like my username says I'm a hypochondriac bit time. I am 17 years old and have sex with one person and I am the only person he has had sex with. It is rounded but does not have a white head and is sensitive to touch. Kind of like those zits you get under the skin that get kinda big. I don't think it is an STD. My boyfriend has not cheated and I do not cheat. What the heck are these things?!?! It is just on the inside of the labia. I read somewhere that starting a new medication or hormones can cause things like this to happen. It just so happens that I started birth control (Alesse) 4 days ago. I don't know if this could have something to do with it or if it is just an irritated gland PLEASE if anyone hears anything let me know. I'm crossing my fingers that the little b****r will just up and disappear. Thanks! - T (:
It's harmless and normal?
Thank god, I was worried I had gotten a horrible disease that was going to kill me

I've been getting them off and on since I was 16. I'm 22 now. When I first went to the doctor even though there was only one and I'd only ever had one sexual partner (we had both been virgins!) she diagnosed me with Herpes. I had to go get blood work done by a specialist and the tests came back as NEGATIVE for both Type I and Type II Herpes! Ever since then though at the back of my mind I always worried that it was somehow some kind of STD - plus its not really something you talk about with other women. It's such a relief to know that other women share this same problem, and that its just a natural bodily occurence!
From the way you describe the bump, it definitely sounds like HPV (human papilloma virus), commonly know as genital warts. This is an STD. Because it is, as you say, "hard, round and in the skin. i tried to pop it nothing happened," this is the usual description of genital warts. You also said that you had unprotected sex the day before, which probably means that your partner transfered the virus over to you unknowingly. You should get it checked out by a doctor in person though.
This info is so helpful. I have what I think is also a small pimple at the top of my labia and not on the actual "lips" and didn't know how to treat it. I did use witch hazel but didn't think about tea tree oil. It also looks like there is white-ish skin that peeled off after I treated
it yesterday. Has anyone had something like that? thanks... :-D

I was glad to see that I'm not the only one that gets these things. When I was younger I would try to hide them from my husband, but now I just say, I got one of those bumps again. I almost always pop them because when they get big they hurt and you can feel them every time you move an certain way. Thanks for the info all! :-D
I've had similar things before too! I get them occasionally.
Basically, if you find one, leave it be for a few days.
Eventually, they'll become easy to pop. If you can't pop it easily, don't force it. It'll hurt like hell and it still wont work.
But I suggest doing that in the shower... and it'll go away very quickly.
Just make be careful to wash that area well, and you won't get them often.

I have been paranoid about these things for ages wondering what they are, i suffer adult acne and the pimpley things come up on my labia. I was horrified and thought i was alone. I pop them due to how painful they can get but use a strong witch hazel or alcohol to stop any infection spread and they tend to go away. For me they occur one about every six months
im really glad to know that im not the only one who gets these. i just popped one bc it really hurt and when i dd it was just likpoping a zit. but this time it like almost hissed bc of the pressure inside i guess. but they hurt really bad and are so embarrassing. knowing its kind of a common thing makes me feel a lot better
I've had these really bad pimples/infected hair follicles since I was maybe 13 either on my inner thighs or my butt (ughhhh). They start relatively deep and eventually make it to the surface, get sore, turn red, and pop. When I finally got around to telling my mom, I found out that she had them, too. Her doctor prescribed her some sort of antibiotic in large quantities so that she just had it around to take whenever she got one, though sometimes I have had 3-5 at a time, which really sucks.
I had one of these on my labia for the first time, which made me very nervous because it had never happened and it spent at least 3 months developing. I think maybe that's true of some of the others, but they were never as noticeable because they were hidden under fat. lol I also stopped having those as often, so I can't remember how long they take to pop anymore.
