yeah, i noticed i had them a long time ago, but i knew that other nipples looked like this, so i didnt mind, i just wanted to know why they were there and popped a few, being younger i assumed they were pimples, because when white stuff comes out im like "oh no." but now that i am informed, im glad they're there (: and i will make sure that they dont get infected.

Hello!
I have not tried popping them...didn't think that was a good idea... But I have had them since before I can remember, so I'm happy to know they are normal.

I just recently (past month) noticed that i have gotten these. did not notice with my last 2 pregnancies but is it possible i could be prego again??? i am 30 and have never noticed anything like it!

i cant tell with any type of tests if i am pregnant or not until i am about 3 or 4 months because my hormone levels are too low.. even blood tests...

also i researched this a bit and do not be afraid to ask your doctor, it is possible it is a rare breast cancer called Paget's disease of the nipple i found this on

I have the same thing with the Montgomery's Tubercles.

Is there anyway to make them less prominent? I know I shouldn't have but I did pick and pop them and now I really need to stop!

Also, I have more on the left nipple than the right....what does this mean, if anything?

How can I treat them?

I am 18 years old, i also have bumps on my nipples, its actually on my nipples though, i just happen to be 7 months pregnant, and my husband is the one that noticed them first, I went to my doctor and he told me it was perfectly natural to have them, they help your nipples maintain there natural oils and they help when breast feeding. My doctor also told me not to pop them because it increases the risk of breast cancer.

Hi i also have alot of those lumps and have done for years. I am 24 years old and earlier today i have noticed a new lump. It is larger than the others, size of a large pimple, it is red and sore like a big pimple gets sore and it is on the edge of my areola. Is it normal to get actual pimples on your areola, do you think it would be a pimple as it is alot more red than any other lumps on either breast. Please help. Thanks in advance.

i'm glad i looked this up, i'm a male, 28, and have had montgomery's glands since I can remember.

I think people should be proud of them ;) and hereby claim that it should be considered an additional sexual feature.

I am a 44-year-old woman and have had these areola bumps for as long as I can remember. I have just a few on my left areola but a lot on the right, and I HATE HATE HATE the appearance of them! Especially since one has a lot more, and randomly located, than the other. I know they are Montgomery glands, totally normal and serve the purpose of lubricating the nipple and areola, but I don't care I just want to get rid of them. I've always been self-conscious in front of my husband because of them. I just read in a message on this site that one woman swears by Tretinoin cream! THANK YOU! I am running out to find some today! I'll post another message here to say whether it works or not.

I am a 30yr old woman......i have had these bumps on my areolas since i was 17. I started popping them then.....I only do it every few weeks or so and just for fun, i enjoy poping zits so this is fun for me....just tonight though i couldnt believe it i went to try and squeeze some out of the edge of the nipple itself as i usually get a little and i got HUGE AMOUNTS, like a boil it was crazy, but cool for me....anyways, i have had 3 kids last one i stopped breastfeeding 3yrs ago but can still squeeze breastmilk out of nipple, just a drop or so....ALSO for mothers breastfeeding yes milk does and can come out of the montgomery glands especially the ones closest to nipple, so if u have colostrum or liquid coming out of these areas, it could signal pregnancy if you have never been pregnant before otherwise it is possible to always produce a lil bit of colostrum, milk, fluid out of your nipples or glands.

I am pregnant and now have the small white bumps on my nipples and to everyone that says that they are worried about men noticing,my husband doesn't mind them at all and forgets that they are there most of the time anyhow so dont worry. they aren't going to be paying attention to the white bumps while your shirt is off!

Are they supposed to hurt a little? That's why I assumed they were pimples. Never in my 22 years have I encountered something like this.

Thanks for asking. Now that I think about it, I've also had little pimples on my nipples for as long as I can remember--I just thought my nipples were different than other women's in some way--more like men's nipples. I'm in peri-menopause and one of them got sore, but when I tried to pop it, it felt much worse. So, I'm going to accept my pimply breasts and move on!! Wow, I'm so glad to hear they're fairly common.
