Wow I am so glad I found this site but sad that there is still no clear cure for this awful problem! I am 55 and still suffer from these headaches/sinus issues. I vomit each time I get one and they usually last 2-3 days. Most people do NOT understand. My husband is a saint because he has to do everything while I'm in bed for those days. I'm losing so much of my life. I wish there was an answer.

magnesium can make a huge difference. I use magnesium bisglycinate as it has good absorption, but doesnt affect the bowels like other forms of magnesium. for me 100 mg every other day is sufficient for most of the month. the week before my cycle is due, I increase to 100 mg every day. this staves off all but the rare migraine....IF I do feel a migraine coming (I get weird symptoms before the head pain hits....usually a tiny bit of nausea and an unusual sense of being "off" like when I have a fever....but without the elevated temperature....and then I notice the tightness in my shoulders and neck), I will take 200 mg of caffeine, 800 mg ibuprofen, and 25 mg of benedryl. That is usually enough to keep the actual migraine from kicking in. Then, I try to make sure it is followed by a full night of sleep. Works 99% of the time.

Same thing! I don’t have this every time I get my period but boy when I do it’s horrible. Right now in fact. I have read that magnesium and other vitamins can help. I look at foods instead of pills. I think when I eat better before my period it helps with these headaches and sinus pressure.

I suffer incredibly from this also. Because I also have terrible allergies if I'm exposed to certain pollens I use a 25% DMSO solution (mixed with distilled water) in a dropper bottle and it magically unclogs the sinuses!! It will burn. This is normal. But the burn goes away and after a few drops you are cured for the day usually. Google DMSO uses. Your life will be changed. I've also used food grade H202 dillution. It works also. However, since I've discovered DMSO I just stick with this one. I've used this for quite a few years now.

It also seems to help when you take some oregano on your tongue and hold it there. Some people clamp down on some fresh or dried oregano under their molars. Take a deep breath and hold for 5 secs ... let it out slow. All the while holding/rubbing your temples. I do this over some steaming water to help the initial attack of the migraine. It also helps to take an alieve. I guess the hormone estrogen effects your mucous somehow, from what I'm gathering. I hope this helps. I'm always searching for quick and easy fixes as well. This is the best I've got so far :) At least the DMSO helps me function in a jiffy.

DMSO dillution helps people/horses with pain/arthritus also. You can also rub a mixture directly on the migraine spot and it takes the pain down significantly. It will completely knock out a regular headache in one dose. It feels itchy for a few minutes and you cannot have hairspray or ANY chemicals/store bought lotions on your skin/hands. It will absorb into your cells, which is a good thing if there are NO chemicals/dirt. Try not to get it in your eyes.

Taking DMSO at the time of a heart attach or stroke can save a persons life. It is good to have in your medical cabinet for an emergency. I also put a few drops in my tea. VERY interesting study. It's worth the research. Transforms your life for sure.

I have these debilitating sinus pressure headaches only in one side and happen to have a deviated. After that was corrected I had relief - at sea level...for about a month. Upon returning to 7k elevation, this sinus pressure returns and seems to align with menstruation when it does ( not each period though)! im at my wits end. Acupuncture works but I can’t be there instantly when it comes on. NAC may be helping, and my multiple vitamins too but I can’t keep enduring this. It really is torturous and didn’t start until a few years ago. Will try the primrose oil and DMSO recommendations!

I’ve had the headaches with sinus pressure within the week pre-period generally lasting for 3 days (weird most people in here have 3 days) for the past 4 years or so. Aleve is the only thing I have found to ease the pain. I had tried hot tea, nasal rinse, essential oils and different over the counter pain relievers but Aleve is the one that helps me function through it.

I've noticed sinus pressure causing headaches about a week from my period as well. I just never really thought much about it.

I’ve been experiencing this for the past few years. It’s so unintuitive that something happening in my uterus causes pain behind my eye, but it’s every month on the first day of my cycle like clockwork. The only way I know to cope is to take some excedrin migraine as soon as I realize it’s happening. Rest for another half hour and then like magic I can function again. It would be nice to understand what’s actually happening and address the cause of the pain though rather than just disguising the symptoms, but for now I’m thankful to get back to being able to function. Moms don’t get the day off and it’s torture to myself and my kids to have to suffer through their requests all day and snap at them because I’m in pain.
