I had my open appendectomy surgery back in August of 2016. Ever since I had the surgery I have had numerous complications, including a small bump above my surgery incision which almost looks like a spot under the skin which apparently was nothing serious after having a ultrasound again. It is now January of 2017 and I have started to experience the worst pain I have ever experienced since having my surgery and not sure what to do, it has been like this for the past 3 days now where it started off usually in the evening when laying in bed but now it's started hurting during the daytime too. When will this pain go away and should it be something to be worried about for long term?

Thank you for your info! I had a ruptured appendix in May 2016 and 8 months later I feel like I've been punched in the stomach.

Hi,
I had my appendix out when I was 16, im not 23 and suffer with horrendous pain in my lower abdomen on the right hand side. Ive had surgery to remove scar tissue and cysts, but the pain still comes back. The pain can last only a day but has lasted 6 months non-stop before. When the pain starts as it gets worse I cant eat as it makes me sick, I struggle to sleep as I keep waking up in pain and I cant go to work as im not allowed to take tramadol whilst working (occupational health decision). Lucky for me my workplace is very understanding due to a manager having similar issues since thier appendix removed.
Its reassuring to know other people have similar issues as some drs make me feel like im making it up!
Im currently waiting to see the pain clinic where they are going to do something to the nerve endings in the right side of my abdomen, I will let you all know how it goes and maybe it could be a root you could look into.

I had emergency surgery for a ruptured appendix, I wound up with gange green and was hospitalized for about 6 days. it has been over seven months and I still have pain where my appendix was. I was searching the Internet to see if this was normal I am also very frustrated, I had a bout this past weekend with diarrhea, I have had such pain where my appendix was I missed work today, the pain is not as bad as it was yesterday or this morning, but it just pangs now... I'm not one to go to the doctor but this sounds like it is quite common . I hope it's not ongoing

I have also found new food sensitivities since removing my appendix. When I am not taking probiotics, I have a severe reaction to processed wheat (almost stroke like symptoms) but can eat other non processed wheat. I also have had severe sensitivities to night shade plants which gave me chronic pain and arthritic symptoms.

I had my appendix removed back in August, have been in pain ever since. Doc's initially thought that it was my Gall Bladder, after ultrasound, HIDA scan, CT and colonoscopy, they still don't know what is causing my pain. My pcp went as far as telling me it was all in my head. I am relieved to hear that I am not the only person going through this.

Hey all,
I had my appendix taken out in September of last year. It was acute, half of my appendix was black with gunk.
After the surgery, the surgeon showed me pictures of my appendix and my ovaries (because endometriosis runs in my family). He found small cysts in my ovaries and decided to not do anything about them because they're not cancerous (which kinda strikes me as odd, because i would think that taking the cysts out might've helped a lot with my recovery).
It's getting to the point where I feel like I am going crazy. I seriously cannot sleep on my right side, or on my stomach without pain. Even when I lay down on my back I can feel a stinging pull to the right of my abdomen. I cannot really bend down normal anymore, and I cannot pick up more than 15 to 20 pounds without pain coming from the surgery site. The pain was so bad one day that i couldn't even pick up a half gallon of milk to pour in my coffee! I haven't had a job since before the surgery and I'm terrified that I'll cause more harm to my body if I do work.
I also have Celiacs, which has always been a struggle with my bowel movements, but now i'm either severely constipated or I have the runs.
I went to my surgeon and he ordered a CT. I've been to his office four times over the past few months. He kept on saying that the pain will subside in 6 months. Now, he's saying it could take a year!? I'm so frustrated, upset, anxious, and depressed about this.
I had a CT done last week, and the receptionist said that the CT didn't show a hernia. So I'm totally at a loss.

Any information would be wonderful.
Thank you.

Taking birth control for the cysts as well as a good probiotic for stomach issues has helped me tremendously. I use Ultra 40 (amazon). The appendix is meant to hold "good bacteria" to fight infection inflammation, so when it was removed, I had a severe adverse reaction to food. Watch wheat, dairy, soy, as well as night shade plants ( tomato, all peppers and eggplant) and for me nuts if not sprouted. Hope this helps, feel better.

Had gyno dr check for endometriosis
And that what i had along with chronic appendix and ovarian cyst. Had a radical hysterectomy along with appendectomy and a bunch of endo and scar tissue removed.

I had my appendix removed last Feb (2017) via Laparoscopic appendectomy and still get a semi-sharp pain at times. I have no idea if it's "normal" but I suppose everyone's different. I'm *thinking* about going back in to get it checked out, but with my experiences, they'll probably just say "everything's fine" or "give it time" or some other bs cliche phrase. fml. Buuut I will say it is comforting to know I'm not the only one going through this c**p lol. Real talk tho-- doctors/nurses need to get their heads out of their a$$es and start caring more about their patients.
