Hiiii,
I had a laproscopic appendectomy just over 3 months ago now, but ever since something hasn't been right. The appendix never burst but was enflamed, I made a good and very quick recovery and was sent home less than 16 hours after having it out. Since then though, I've had a pain very similar to the appendix pain in the appendix area, I have it almost everyday now, with it ranging from a dull ache to agony. I've since also had thrush, bacterial vaginosis, urine infections and such which i have never had before i had my appendix removed. I was healthier before!! I had a transvaginal scan to check my ovaries but they looked fine. Since my operation I have only had 1 period (which was a few weeks ago now) the rest of the time it never came. i'm concerned about why this has been happening and am booked to see the doctor next week.
I'm quite glad to see that other people have had it, did anyone get a diagnosis?

I was the same way you were...missing ALOT of school, and when i was at school i would randomly get struck by this horrible pain.i spent most of my days in the nurses office.i meet with a gastronomic specialist and they scheduled a colonoscopy and an upper GI.Of course they found nothing which made me pissed and frustrated.they told me i was a very healthy child and it was probably"stress related"i thought skrew this!im not crazy and its not stress related!im gonna get to the bottom of this!but there is nothing a 16 year old girl can do so i just kept on with my life and kept very active and surviving upon advil.Over time the pains have wore down i had my first one the other day while i was at school and took advil and was over it,that was the first one ive had in almost a year:)i really hope this is just some thing that wears out over time...it makes me so sad inside to know that so many people are having to deal with the same God awful pain as me:(i wish it would all just go away...but until doctors know whats going on i recommend lots of sleep keeping very active(maybe pick up running)eating verey well...and lots of advil:)
Best of luck to everyone,
Mollie

hello! i just got my appendix removed on january 17th, which would be 20 days ago. i had a laparoscopically surgery. three incisions-one around the belly button, lower left side of stomach and bikini line area. my scars are amazingly small and ive been having a speedy recovery. but 20 days later, i am here with some stomach pain in the area of the appendix(which isnt there anymore obviously). ive been excerising so im wondering if this is effecting my post surgery effects. i thought 20 days would be okay to be back to normal and do normal activities considering ive been feeling quite well-almost perfect! can anybody let me know if they think i have any internal problems after working out 20 days after surgery? :S thanks so much~
Hi I'm currently in bed with pain in my. Left side after having my apendix taken out the day after I turned 20 :/ crappiest birthday supprise ever lol so since I had my apendix out in October I've had pain in my left side I had that surgery where they do the 3 tiny holes. My apendix was inflamed when I had it out I was sent to 3 different hospitals and talked to a lot of #octors and did a lot of test that was not a fun day but they couldn't figure out it. Was apendicitis I ended up having to do some scan thing to detect it I guess That was wierd but i went from perfectly fine at work that morning to haveing an emergency surgery for an inflamed apendix thatvwas about to burst I guess. But anyway
Since I had the surgery if had pain in my left side about 2 inches from my belly button that are very similar to the pain I. Was having when I had the inflamed apendix. I'm wondering why? I hurt post surgery and it never went away, but I did start having bladder infections almost continuosly and the area of the pain seems to twitch and spazm some times for no paticular reason. The pain also intensivies when I need to pee/ my bladder is semi full I guess. Like I can't hold it when I need to pee I need to pee or I'm in agonizing pain :/ it makes road trips with other people suckkkkk. But I don't sleep anymore and rarely eat not because of the pain but my need to do both have pretty well disapeared. My girlfriend is worried I've been extremely depressed and agitated and am getting extremely skinny I'm 5'8 and used to wear size 9 skinny jeans now I size 5s are getting baggy 0.o I can by cloths in the kids section now pretty much and we don't know what's wrong .

I had an open appendectomy 8 weeks ago. I am still have intermittant, severe, sharp pain. Sometimes, I feel like "bubbles" under the scare, as if the stitches were popping. I am in pain every day, sometimes it is mild, but most of the I'm also getting very depressed. i've gone to my doctor, but I've been treated like an id**t- I've had blood and urine tests which came back normal. The doctor doesn't seem to believe I'm really in pain- I can't sleep at night. Even walking distances that I used to consider short are really difficult for me. Carrying even a small hand bag is hard, even though I should, by all normal accounts be perfectly fit already. I am a 23 year old female. Prior to the surgery I was in excellent physical health, and I was training for my third half marathon.
i had my appendix removed a little over a year ago and i have been experiancing pain on my left side, at first i would feel it a couple of times a month, it would last a couple of hours and the pain would come in waves. Recently however the pain has been coming several times a week, the pain is in waves and lasts all day. and it can vary from mild discomfort to severe pain, also been having real bad intestinal problems
on the up side i have finally given up pn my addiction to pizza
im so tired of it, it has started to affect with my social life, please if anybody finds a way to help please email!!!!!!

has anyone checked to see if you have problems with cysts on you ovaries? i had a laproscopic, they thought it was appendecitis, it was ovarian cysts. they reoccur and are extremely painful, but go away after 24 to 48 hours...
:-( Whoa! I cannot believe what I'm hearing from all of you, it all sounds too familar. Although, I believe that I'm the oldest female. I'm 55 and 27 days ago I thought that I had caught the flu but diarrhea and vomitting never made me feel better. the abdomianl pain continued to worsen so four days of this insanity I woke my husband and told him that I just couldn't take the pain anymore. So he drove me to the ER and the blood test revealed that my white blood cell count had escalated to 25,000 (normal is 10,000) so that ruled out the flu. First they thought that it was my kidneys. Yet, after drinking this horrible stuff and vomitting the first of it I finally kept the last cup down long enough for them to run a CT on me they discovered that I had a hot appendix. I was given intravenous Morphine and tansported by ambulance to a Trauma Center in Tulsa. They ran more tests and ask allot of questions and inquired if I had any for them. What! I'm ready to go delirious from the severity of the pain. I simply wanted the pain to stop, NOW!!! Finally they performed an emergency surgery and my appendix had ruptured. I vaguely remember the surgeon telling me it was the worse infected appendix he's ever seen during his years of practice and that he'd flushed my Liver, Gull bladder, and abdominal wall to clean out the perotonitis and felt confident that all was clear of infection. Then I was given mega intravenous antibiotics to clear any chances of infection. I didn't stay but overnight at the hospital for I can miserable at home and get more rest there. I've been back to the same ER because of a right bulge above my right incision and it hurts constantly. In addition, I have serious elimination issues which only makes more discomfort and when I do eliminate it is painful. What is going on? I got angry and demanded an Abdominal CT for they said that I was still full of radiation from the last CT and I went through this procedure today and guess what? They compared my last results from the CT to the new one and said it's normal. B.S.! This is not normal. I have another referral to meet with my surgeon not his colleagues. I only want the two who actually performed the emergency surgery to consult with. Thanks to the information from you all I now feel more equipped to insist that they check my stool for C-Diff and will inquire if they left a stump of my appendix inside of me. This is so frustrating and I'm no doctor but I know my body better than they do and something is terribly wrong. I too am lethargic and tire easily with heart papiltations from the least of activities. My ribs ache too after activity and often my back. Sleeping is difficult and I've slept in the fetal position most of my life but now I sleep on my back because of the discomfort. I've lost mad weight rapidly and I'm cold all of the time. That's not my norm! I'm afraid to even have my husband sleep in the same bed with me due to the pain, let alone even considering to indulge in love making with him. I'm aware that he's frustrated but I truly hurt. I'm not a whimp and I don't take pain pills for they don't work anyway. The best of luck for you all and wishing you a pain free life. Thanks for the information. In all of my research I have never heard of the valuable info that you've shared. I simply wonder if thy're phantom pains and really how long can they last? I just don't know.
hi this is starr (:
My boyfriends sister has had the same problem, we actuallyu just got back from the hospital, and she had gotten her apendix out a few years ago, but because her tissues are so swollen, it was causig her pain.
they had found an ovarian sist, (im not sure how to spell that)
but she cant ever have kids again, because the stupid surgen who took her apendix out did something and now her phalopian tube
(idk how to spell that either)
is connected to her bowels...
ITs really horrible what is happening, & i really hope you dont have the same problem. im sixteen also and i would really hate to be told that i could never have kids ...

I had my appendix out in March 2006 admitted and in surgery within 4 hours. Ive been calling them phanotom pains....but yes in the same area as the pain that was diagnosed as appendicitis. Sometimes its horrible, I cannot stand up straight and it hurts to even breathe, but only right of my bellybutton just above my incision. :-( I have not bothered going to the DR about it as I have had no other symptoms to go on and the pain comes and goes I guess its just my lot in life. Good Luck!
I had my appendix removed about 10 months ago, I found the whole experience very traumatic as I thought it was just really bad menstral cramps to start with so I ignored the pain. When I finally got to having the surgery my appendix had fused to my pelvis so I had to have the old school operation as well as the first attempt at a laproscopic one. 10 months on I still get pain at the site of the surgery, it isn't agonising, but it has impacts on activities/sport as well as my physical relationship with my partner. I had a nurse examine my internal working to make sure nothing was amiss, and was told everything was normal. When I went to my GP he tried to tell me I had developed endomitriosis. Apparently this can be caused by scar tissue on or around the ovaries (I'm not 100% clear on this). So this may be something worth investigating for some of you. However, having done research on endoomitriosis I don't believe this is the cause of my pain. I'm almost willing to accept it's in my head, but it hurts too much! I do suffer from depression which has gotten worse over the last year, and I believe that the sudden-ness of my appendicitus has made me feel this way. I used to be so active and tried to live healthily, and then it was as if my body was attacking me! I have found this, along with the pain, very hard to deal with. My GP doesn't seem too concerned and I feel like he is always in a hurry to brush it under the carpet.
Ive had laparoscopic appendectomy 1 year ago. appendix gone. pain still here. its even getting worst i didnt go n see a doctor for i dont want em sticking things up my butt! Dont get me wrong but im glad to see that im not the only one having this problem. at least now, i know that its normal. bad news is- ill have "post appendectomy pain" until i die.
heyy, recently i was driven to the ER because i had very severe abdominal pain (on a 1-10 scale it was an 8.) i am 15 years old, and so my options are limited. at first, the doctors thought it was appendicitis because my white blood count was 15,000. but, the pain was all over. so they had me drink a large bottle of contrast and sent me to get a C.A.T scan, and the results showed that i had a slight thickening of the appendix. however, they also said i had cysts on both of my ovaries! i was admitted to the hospital and taken to pediatrics where i was going to stay for observation and while i was there, the surgeon said i did not have appendicitis but rather i had cysts that were giving me all this pain. but heres where it gets foggy, i started out with pain in my lower abdomen, and gradually it started to decrease and concentrate on my right side about mid way from my right ovary and under my ribcage. but when they scanned me the second time, it showed that the cyst on my right ovary was gone, and the one on the left was still there. also, my white blood count had gotten back down to normal. however my fever spiked as high as 100.4 and again, the nurse dismissed it as a hormonal hot flash and they went ahead, called it a cyst and discharged me. today, i just got back from a very experienced GYN that gave me an ultrasound. he said: "you have an exccedingly normal uterus!" he also explained that in gynecology what i had on my left ovary was not a cyst, but rather a folical. they only determine those things as cysts when they are 3mm long. mine was 2.5-2.8. so all my options had gone down the drain! i have had numerous blood tests done, two C.A.T scans, AND an ultrasound. no one can find a thing wrong with me even though i still feel a small amount of pain, i still feel very funky/not right and i am incredibly weak. when just walking up the stairs in my house i get winded and my heart rate speeds up considerably... i am a very thin white girl and apparently, this rules out even more options. (im not trying to brag i promise) my mom thinks that possibly i did have appendicitis but i was healed... my dad is a nurse and doesnt know what to think. i am a christian girl and i think healing is possible, but i dont think thats it.... maybe ya'll can help me? i have no idea what to do.
I was diagnosed with acute appendicitis whilst on a school expedition in Peru and 2 days before the scheduled surgery my appendix burst and I had to be rushed into the hospital... They performed keyhole surgery and whilst I was fine for the first week of recovery, after that week i started to feel similar pain in the area where my appendix was and the same pain in the opposite side. I couldn't walk properly and all the Doctors and scans have said that it's just internal bruising... Has anyone else had anything similar or know a way to deal with the pain? Standard painkillers do jack all and it's really starting to get me down... Any advice would be helpful, thanks.
Hello....My pain started 2 1/2 years ago...1. surgery to correct adhesions with uterus & ovaries 2. complete hysterectomy 3. gall bladder 4. and now 2 weeks ago appendix...feeling good but since yesterday having pain in lower abdomen, never completely quit having aching pain under my ribs from gallbladder surgery. It is very depressing that with every surgery I have hope to not be in pain anymore. So tired of the constant trips to the ER and them finding something new wrong with me. Surgeon last week does not feel the appendix is where all my pain is coming from. What else is there? He said we just have to wait to see if the pain comes back. Good Grief. Anyone have this same problem... %-)
