I'm writing because I am in the same condition as you were - I'm wondering if they figured out why you still had pain and whether you still are in pain after the surgery. Any info could help. Before the surgery I was also very healthy, happy person - now the daily pain in causing quite a bit of depression and the doctors are not helpful - they don't seem to believe I am in pain.

Hi GA in CA. I am in SHOCK to find this site and I shouldn't be in shock. I have been to numerous doctors over the past 2.5 years since my emergency appendectomy that thrust me into MENOPAUSE where I had no perimenopause but regular cycles!! The day after surgery had a period two weeks early and then lost my periods!! Since the surgery my ovaries have been hurting...now my whole stomach/gi tract is completely out of whack and I blow up like I am seven months pregnant!! Not one doctor finds a DAMN thing and they send you on to the next. I have told EVERY one of of them it's from the surgery!!! I need to know who this healing doctor is in LA that knows about scar tissue and how to heal it up naturally. WOW!!! I am not sure if I need to go in for lyposcropic surgery to remove the ovaries and scar tissue or what but I cannot LIVE like this any longer. The past month I am just suffering horrendously and I am a totally active fit person (normally!!). Can you please let me know how to reach this doctor and what she told you to do for this problem?? :^( So miserable!!! and they act like it's all in your head...it's CRAZY. :^( I want my life back!!! -KJ in CA

I had an emergency appendectomy 3 1/2 months ago. after about a week was in even more pain and running a fever of 101. After ER treated me for cellulitis, 2 days later my regular doctor said no, it was an abscess of one of the incision sites. A surgeon drained it right in his office and the healing began.
Took me a month from day of original surgery to feel normal again, but every now and then when I over do it, I will feel a sharp pain in the spot where the appendix used to be. I think this recovery may take a lot longer than we think......

This same thing has been happening to me. And the doctors continue to say that it's nothing wrong with me. They misdiagnosed me 6 months before I had my appendix removed they told me that it was back up stool then I went again because of the same pain and they said it was still backed up stool 3 weeks later I went again and they finally told me my appendix had ruptured and been infected for a while. But post surgery I been having pains and the doctors keep saying its nothing but I'm worried because I'm also nausea and light headed . If you find out anything please let me know because it might help me .

I have this same problem after my appy three years ago. I feel it is related to gas getting "stuck" in that area. Perhaps a "pocket" developed and the gas gets stuck. I use a hot pack for twenty minutes and do abdominal massage to get it to calm down. The abdominal massage is a process of making the letters I L and U across the abdomen. This generally works for me.

I had an appendicitis last August and am still in extreme pain. I couldn't function past noon without falling asleep. The doc did bloodwork and found that although in the normal range my vitamin D was low. I have started taking 2000 IU daily and getting B12 and B complex shots to help my energy. The weeks I eat better my energy is better also. Too much sugar makes me feel like garbage. I still have pain, but my energy is up to about 80%

Hi,

I read all your concern regarding post effect of apendectomy. I also experienced the same after 9months operation. One of my friend introduced Lifestyle product; Intra Juice and Nutria. It really help minimize the pain. Since this is just a food suplement as they said, I have to be patient taking it until the pain and all my health concern will be solved. I am just concern that I would like you to try this. Just contact me if you really want to order or be a member in order to avail discount.

Dear greenkitty,
I also was in the hospital for 2 weeks after my emergency surgery for a ruptured appendix. It took 6 liters of saline and antibiotic solution to clean out my peritoneum. I had 2 drains placed and after they were taken out I was given round-the-clock IV doses of antibiotics and antifungals. My IV pole was my best friend (and the nurses). There was one CT scan to diagnose me in the ER, 2 more while in hospital and another one 6 days after discharge. All showed masses all through my abdomen and stomach areas which the doctors interpreted as constipation. They were right to a small degree, but wrong in so many more ways. I do not believe that CT scans can help diagnose anything. The pain meds they gave me were in such low doses that I had to yell at the doctors about my pain level, which stayed at a steady 10 out of 10 the entire time I was in the hospital. The worst part was my WBC level, which stayed well over the healthy limit of 10. A high white blood cell count means INFECTION! My WBC count was 13 to 18 from presentation to discharge, which clearly signals an infection. Duh. It's not like I was in some small, back-water hospital either, it was just lazy, complacent doctors.

Did I mention in was 53 years old and got sick (fever, vomiting and severe pain) when this happened? Well, upon discharge 6 weeks ago, I am absolutely not constipated and still in pain at a level of 6 out of 10. Surgeon won't give me pain meds because he thinks I just need to eat a high fiber diet and exercise, which puts me in more pain. I have no appetite so I have to force myself to eat because I really don't want to. Based on the chart notes and OP report I got from his office, he really believes that I probably have an abscess.

I have fired my surgeon and am going to a new GI doctor who took blood samples for critical tests, and is sending me for an abdominal sonogram to find out why I am having pain so close to my uterus and up towards my belly button. (kitty, If you know your anatomy, the appendix and the uterus are at least 4 inches apart and have nothing to do with each other.) Anyway, I am gathering every document I can from day 1 to today for a malpractice lawsuit.

I wish you luck in getting better and if you need a medical malpractice attorney, you now know where to find me.

I'm in eighth grader and a female. Last summer I had been experiencing pain in my right lower abdomen. After a week we went to the doctor, she told me it sounded a lot like appendicitis. We went to the hospital I had an ultrasound and they said it looked normal, so we went home. Two days later my mom took me back to the hospital, and I had a CT scan. That also came back normal. A week later we went back and they admitted me into the hospital, as I had been losing weight. Five days later a doctor said she still thought it was appendicitis and wanted to do the surgery. So the next day I had surgery. The doctor came back in after the surgery and said it was appendicitis, and that my appendix was three times longer then a normal appendix. From when I woke up from surgery I experienced excruciating pain in my belly button. Which was where they did the surgery through. Today ( six months later) I still have that pain in my belly button. My parents have taken me to many doctors appointments, and I've had many tests, including CT scans, ultrasounds, stool samples, x-rays, and just yesterday I had a injection of pain medicine in my belly button. Nothing helped, and the injection has made it worse. I can't feel anything else but pain; it feels like I've tried everything.

Hi, Im a 17 yo female and I also went threw a similar situation. About 5 months ago I went to the hospital with appendicitis. Funny thing was that when I got the ultrasound not only did I have a slightly large appendix I also had an ovarian cyst, and doctors were confused as to which was causing the symptoms. So, you pain may be caused by your right ovary. Best wishes
