Same problem with me as well. I am 19 years old and I first noticed it when I was in 7th grade because someone commented on my purple feet. My feet turn a scary shade of purple -it's extremely dark. When I take a shower I've noticed that they turn a bright red instead. I consulted my doctor about it and he said there was nothing to worry about. I have excellent blood pressure and what not. According to him it's caused by my veins vasculating. I'm a nursing student so I knew what he meant but I can explain it to you to make it a little clearer. It basically means that your veins constrict or don't constrict according to your temperature. It's helping to keep you warm. It makes sense to me because I'm always cold. I hope I helped a little. :/

I get purple in my arms and my legs as well as getting white spots all over my arms and legs. It is terrible!! I don't even want to wear a short sleeve shirt because it is so apparent. My feet and hands are always cold and purple colored unless I'm really warm and then they get sort of swollen and red. Does anyone have suggestions or can relate??

I have the same problem. I'm 16. It's embarrassing because I'm usually the only person purple/white feet and blotchy yellowish-white and purple legs. The same is with my hands. I also notice that when I cross my legs, too. Do you ever get cold sweaty feet or hands? What can I do?? It all really suckks. :(

Oh, and a lot of the time I use "leg makeup" that comes in an airbrush spray can thing. It helps cover it up, and it is waterproof. I recently saw it by the nail polish/fake nails/bath salts area.

I know I have Raynaud's disease. My dad is a dermatologist and has told me that. However, they seem(after even going to Wake Forest Medical Center) to have no answer for the white spots and purple feet. I am devastated because I do feel so alone and feel like I NEVER want to show my body. Never want to wear anything above my knees for sure. They ALWAYS turn purple and have white dots all over. I used to smoke for a long time. I'm 33 now and probably started when I was 16. I know this has not helped. I just started taking 1/16th of a teaspoon of the poweder form of cayenne. Wow, it is difficult. I mix with 8 oz of lukewarm water and I'm trying to do it twice a day. I have also purchased the ginko. I'm just going to start there. I am a very healthy eater and atleast do yoga as a form of exercise. I should probably do more. I so so pray that the steps I'm taking now will alleviate some of my issues. I have a problem even showing my chest since it turns red and splotchy. Does anyone else have it ALL over like me? Anyway, thanks for listening and hope to talk to someone :-)

I can't sleep so I decided to google this issue. I've had this purple leg thing for years, I'm 19 now. When I was in middle school kids used to ask what was wrong with me in swimming class because my legs would be so purple. This embarrassment continued on through high school (this made me hate gym class cause I had to wear shorts) and I am still affected by it today. I'm very pale, I've always been. I have been diagnosed with Raynaud's since I was 14. I also read that some people had auto immune diseases with this issue, I do too. I have connective tissue disease, they think it's Lupus. I've always struggled with my auto immune disease and the embarrassment of my legs and arms when I get cold. My legs are fine when it's warm in a room, grocery stores I FREEZE and turn purple. It sucks having to worry about getting cold knowing that you're going to turn purple and look as if you're a zombie. I still wear shorts in the summer, I figure oh well if people don't like it then whatever they don't have to look. I just wish I was warm and purple free 24/7 :-)

i too have suffered from purple legs since about 8 years of age.excercise helps temporarily and certain herbs such as garlic, cinnamon, ginger, ginkgo, black pepper anything good for circulation i try to add to my diet whenever possible.i also try to take plenty of baths in the winter to keep my temp up and drink plenty of hot tea when it's cold.i've found avoiding caffeine and other stimulants helpful and massaging my legs with lotion or oil really improves the color.i'm currently looking into possible food allergies that could be causing the weekness in blood flow and will be sure to reply with any info . if nothing else i will move to a place that's warm, stay tan, and find a way to kick my feet up:)

my red legs only started about three weeks ago. they are red from the ankle to the muscle of the calf. there is a very defined line where it stops. Its not sore and is swollen everywhere but that area. I have problems with that foot and wondered if there was a connection. I am diabetic so it could be curculation. My only concern is if it spreads. Feet are freezing and my legs are very irratable in the evening.I'm seeing a specialist on the 24th so will post my results if I can find this website again. I'm a newy

Hi,

I am not a doctor but have been to so so many doctors over a period of 10 years (Mayo Clinic, Iowa City, Northwestern, GP's, Internists, and Rheumatologists), I have had a multitude of diagnosises... all autoimmune. I have tried a number of alternative methods, accupuncture, acupressure, herbs.... and taken so many prescription drugs over a period of ten years with no relief. To make a long story short, someone introduced me to liquid minerals not for my symtoms but because I was always tired with 3 children and working fulltime. I continued to take the minerals because I wasn't looking for them to relieve my sysptoms. There was no point in time when I thought oh I'm cured. Over time, I just kept forgetting to take all my drugs because it was the pain and swelling that always reminded me to take them. Within 6 months I was off all my meds (methotrexite, prednisone, gold, plaquenil, yada, yada, yada) only because I kept forgetting to take them. I felt so good I even started to forget to take my minerals. After 4 weeks my symptoms started coming back and I have never stopped taking minerals since.

As I did research I learned that your body needs minerals to repair itself. Not the eleven or twelve that are in your daily vitamins, but 66 essential minerals. People used to get minerals in their water and the food they eat, but now that the water is so filtered and treated and our food is grown for quantity and not quality, most people do not have the minerals in their body it needs to run efficiently so things break down and over time escalate. This might not be your case and I'm sure most doctors don't buy into something so simple but after 10 years of pure hell, I haven't had any problems in over 16 years... NONE, nor have I taken any drugs. Good luck I know what you all are going through.

I have this problem too! Im 15 and I want to go to a doctor but I'm afraid that they wont be able to do anything for me. My legs turn purple when it is cold and red when its warm. My feet turn to a deadly looking purple when its cold. When ever I rub my skin it turns white and then back to normal when I let go. I tried gradual self tanner but it just made my legs orange (however its probably just because im so pale). PLEASE respond if someone has a cure for this!

I just went to the doctor today for the same reasons as most of you. After my last pregnancy I found that I had spots on top of my feet and coming up to my ankles and found out that they are veins that have surfaced from low blood circulation in the legs and gaining of weight. I have gained a good 65ibs within the last 4yrs from having children and since I have always had bad circulation gaining weight and having became a thyroid victim has just made things worst. Doctor recommends daily exercising and diet. Keep legs elevated and I would defiantly recommend having a full physical to make sure you don't have any unknown conditions. Because poor blood circulation and poor diet is the cause of varicose veins and Peripheral vascular disease (PVD) and would be subjected to having to wear special socks to keep blood flowing. I hope this helps. This is my realty so I still looking up information on this subject.

I have this problem :-(. It was never severe like some of you guys but, cold purple feet, blotchy legs. Just wanted to post because it's gotten a lot better in the last year or so. I've been trying to walk/jog/bike most days, and I got orthotics. Not sure if it's the cardio, having more muscle in my legs, or the shoes, but something worked.

If anyone winds up here with the pimples/red dots on legs problem, try a doctor. Mine told me they weren't pimples, they were folliculitis, to use antibacterial soap and if they didn't get better she'd give me antibiotics. Can't give much advice though because the soap didn't work and I haven't tried the antibiotics.

Good luck folks
