So glad to hear a response from you after 4 months. It has been 2 months for me and I get shooting pains in my toe. I just started physical therapy last week and will do this for several weeks I'm glad to hear that this will help me. I had bunion removal hammertoe correction and Morton's neuroma removal... I must have been crazy to do all 3 at once...

I had MN surgery on my left foot in April 2012. I tend to recover quickly from surgery and I felt immediate relief. I was anxious to be able to walk barefoot, to not have stabbing pains while working out. Both of those things have happened for me. I did have to buy a shoe size bigger than I have worn for decades to allow for a wider left  forefoot.

There are times I wish I had not have done the surgery. When I sit for periods of time, I get numbness and burning in my foot. If I stand for awhile it is better. Laying down flat is also helpful. I can't cross my legs as much "like a lady" because of the  paint hat runs down my leg. Has anyone else experienced this?

Being able to go barefoot reminds me that it was the right thing to do!

OK I have had a neuroma in my left foot for over two years. About 5 years ago a doctor said he removed it. Now another doctor says I have a stump Neuroma. I am schedule for foot surgery next week. AM I doing right does this not solve it either.

I have heard of stump neuroma...either all was not removed in the 1st surgery or it just grew back anyway. How lucky can you get! If it was me, I would not have more surgery as the 1st time 8 months ago for me was pretty bad and to this day my foot is miserable compounded by my bunion. I change footwear 8 times a day and am not comfortable in anything except FitFlops which are thick and ugly but at least my feet don't hurt in them.

For anyone out there that is have pain after surgery, talk to your orthopod about physical therapy. I had my second mortons neuron surgery. the size of the tumor was about the size of the tip of your little finger. that whole space filled with scar tissue. I had worse pain then before the surgery. I started with physical therapy and now I can honestly say I am pain free. a good PT can make all the difference in the world.

Hello all,

I've been studying all of your responses and posts to find answers BUT have ended up with more questions. I have a neuroma in my right foot. It's not a true Morton's neuroma since it is in between the 4 and 5th toe, but it is still a neuroma regardless. I've done 4 cortizone shots and 1 scleroising shot in the past year and a half. I've also had a walking boot, metarsal bar, and custom orthotics. I have been to both an orthopedic and podiatrist and have gotten an MRI and xrays done. I have all the symptoms that you see on every webpage imaginable to foot neuromas. One big one was when I was driving home on an interstate and got a large electricfying cramp from the tip of my toe to my hip complete with pain and almost freezing/locking my leg in place.

I feel like I'm at my witts end and don't know what else to try. My orthopedic says he'll do surgery if I strongly convince him and my podiatrist will do it in a quick minute once I tell her to do so. I just want the pain to stop, it's gotten worse now that winter and the cold weather is here.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me?

Annezee, sounds like you are really having a hard time.  I had the surgery in March 2012 in the right foot and I can't say I'm any better, the symptoms compounded by a symptomatic bunion and 2nd toe curling up.  Still have occasional surges of burning pain in my right foot and feel like I'm walking on a marble or two.  NOW, I am convinced I also have a neuroma in the opposite foot.  Cannot find much in the way of footwear that is comfortable.  Can't walk very long or shop much.  I think most people who deal with neuromas can very well be stuck with them for life.  I know I am.  Not having any more surgery, that's for sure.  I have nothing to offer you for a suggestion exept prayer and hope that whatever you do end up doing actually works!

I had carpel tunnel surgery on right hand and MN surgery on right foot. Was terrified. I’ve been researching for months. I’ve been having trouble with my hands for years and my feet about two years. Shots and shoe pads didn’t work. I’ve had to stop running and speed walking. So I felt either way I wasn’t going to be able to do the things I enjoyed. So I checked around for Dr.’s, got to opinions and went for it! Hand is sore. But the bandage bothers me more. We’ll see how it goes when the bandage comes off. As far as my foot, Couple of nights I woke up and felt like my foot was on fire. Took a pain pill and it helped. My husband said I might be keeping propping up too high or too much. I just want to do everything to have a quick recovery with little pain. Last night I propped it up on one pillow and slept with the ice bag. Didn’t wake up during the night with pain. Foot is sore. I go to Dr. tomorrow to get the bandage changed. I’ve really have tried to stay off of it. So I hope I recover fast with no or little trouble.
