I had the proceedure done 080709.Approx 6 days later I had a fever of 101, I called my doc who told me that if it got to 101.5 to go to the ER, and that he did not think it was a part of the surgery. Turns out after the fever spiked to 102, and a stint in the ER and 2 days back in the hospital, I had an infection. Since the surgery, I have had discharge everyday, yesterday I bled for 3 hours (possibly my period - dont know) and the discharge is back today. I went to my doc last week who told me that everything was normal. I hope it all works out in the end. It would have been a waste to do this and not get the desired results.
I had an endometrial ablation on August 14. I was due to start my period that day. On Sept 12 I started having a regular period. Does this mean the surgery was unsucessful?! o.O Did anyone have a regular period right after surgery and then they quit? Don't know what to expect now. Thanks for any feedback. ~Robin
Yes, I am having the same issue. I had the ablation October 2008, haven't had a period since November and today I am having the worse cramps, blood clots and frustration!!! What is going on?!!! Help!
I had the Novasure procedure done on Sept 3rd and I am still having bloating, cramps and a pressure-like sensation in my uterus. Also still having discharge that ranges from clear to brown, to pink. Haven't gotten a period yet but it has only been three weeks.
I had the procedure 12 days ago... hospital outpatient. Some cramping pain after, but felt fine by that
evening. Didn't take any of the Motrin/Vicadin they prescribed. I had advised that I have a history of
nausea from anesthesia, so they added anti-nausea meds to the I.V. It worked!!!! Have had some
spotting since, then started my "normal" period a few days ago. Not as heavy, but cramps just as bad.
Was also hoping to be one of the lucky ones that didn't have a period, but encouraged by above post that
also had one soon after, then stopped! As for cost, so far I've only seen the hospital bill which was $15,000.
(My co-pay was $1000 after insurance).

I had my ablation done Friday, Oct 16th.
*Was fine on Sat/Sun.
*Monday, very dizzy and nauseous and tummy was in a lot of pain.
*Tues, went to work, left half way thru, same complaints, but way dizzier. Spent Tues at the Drs/ER- x rays, bloodwork, nothing out of the norm, they said.
*Wed, stayed home from work, tummy pain again.
*Today, tried to go in, tummy pain again, doubling me over, I can't work thru it.
Any ideas, thoughts, experiences? I can't tell if they are cramps or GI problems. I'm also exhausted still.
HELP!

I had my ablation done the same day 10/16/09, the dr. say in two days you can return to work. I decide to stay home for the full week. The day of my surgery, I was feeling very dizzy, and nauseous due to the anesthesia, I was in a lot of pain. Each day I was in pain, I have a lot of pressure in the stomach, if I sit to long and some cramping for a few days. At night, I pee about 4 times through out the night therefore, I don’t get a good night rest. Right now I take one day at a time, I plan to go back to work on Monday. %-)
I had my procedure done on November 13, 2009. The procedure was not that bad. I am still in recovery but my concern is the bloating and i feel a little tugging on my tummy area when i lay on my side. I have had the pinkish discharge but only have to wear a pantyliner. Hoping this is gonna take care of a 7 day every 2 week period.
I have the proceduere scheduled for DEC.3rd is this really worth it I am all alone do I need some one there to help me
I had the ablation and tubal ligation done December 4th. I still have some discharge and the occaisonal cramp. I think the cramp is more from the tubal than the ablation just by where the cramp is and it feels similar to ovulating. Since I also had the tubal, I went to an outpatient surgery center and was under anasthesia. I took pain pills for a couple of days, but again I think that was more from the tubal than the ablation. I have not been with my husband yet, and am hoping that I met get to soon. The paperwork said no sex until the discahrge stops, but what if it doesn't! How long do I wait before I get worried about the discharge? I also had an "odd" smell for a little while but it was not a bad smell, just different. Hubby thought I was imagining it, but since others have experienced it, I doubt it. Oh and I was bloated for a while and think I am still a little bloated. I really think that is from the air they put in to do the tubal. I also had my gall bladder out in March and experienced similar bloating due to the air they put in your body. Overall I am feeling good, but the discharge is annoying. There are times that it is almost like I peed myself as well. Oh and I did pee a lot after I got home for the first few days. I think this may be due to the air pushing on our bits. It went away and I am back to normal peeing.
I had the procedure done on Dec 11th in the Dr. office. The pain during the procedure was pretty bad (no worse than having a baby) but it did last a solid 110 seconds. They had me breath through it like labor and I was fine once the machine went off! Had NO pain at all afterward, never even had to take asprin or tylenol - nothing!!! I was sleepy for about 24 hours from the Demerol. I bled for a couple of days like a period after the process, some clotting, and then it changed to spotting/brown discharge.
I would highly recommend the procedure to anyone. I used to have bad periods. 2-3 days of heavy bleeding and clotting and then a normal period for another 4-5 days. I had my last period 2 1/2 weeks prior to the procedure so was do a week later. Since the procedure I have had no real period. However...
My only issue is I continue to spot. Watery brown discharge has continued since then. Nothing heavy, just continues each day. Going on 5 weeks...should I worry? I see other people say it can last up to 3 months. I have no pain, no cramping, just the spotting. It is annoying more than anything. When will it stop?

Hi everyone: I have been reading the post and can honestly say that they have been most helpful. I had the VOVASURE procedure done on Dece mber 14th, 2009. The procedure itself took less than 1 hour including D & C. I had mild cramping for about two days which was treated with vicodin and motrin combined. I had a slight bloody discharge for about two weeks. On January 5th I started bleeding again with occasional spotting, then three days later I had heavy bleeding and clotting for about two days, then tappering off to slight spotting for a few days longer. The other side effects I can report are slight bloating in the stomach area, and PMS type symptoms (mild depression, sensitive emotions to the point of crying etc). I guess my experience is not what I expected, but I am hopeful that in a few months my periods will taper off to little to nothing. I should say that I am 53 years old, but have not had any premenepausal symptoms other than an occasional hot flash or two. Before the procedure I was having very heavy 10 day periods with large clotting and severe pain. The other thing I should mention that I have a thyroid disorder that has been out of control for about a year resulting in the removal of my thyroid glands. If you suspect you have a thyroid hormone imbalance, make sure you ask your doctor to check your TSH levels as this im balance can also effect your menstrual cycle. I also had m tubes tied at age 26, I am not sure if this makes a difference but one of the ladies mentioned that it could be a factor. Hope this information is helpful to someone. :-D
Hello, All.
Had the Novasure inpatient last Wednesday, four days ago. My uterus is apparently pretty oddly positioned and cervix is very tight so my doc knew it would be tough to get into the uterus. Apparently all was well with ultrasound guidance but it did take a bit of work to get into the uterus as expected. I was under General Anasthesia, and as he was ending the procedure, my body decided it had had enough and began to faint (Vaso Vagal response) but since I was unconcious, they couldn't easily revive me and my heart stopped. No obvious reason. After less than a minute of chest compressions, I was fine and five minutes later all vitals were perfect and I was well awake. The OR was shaken up, but I was blissfully unaware. No real explainable reason for this to have happened and I have no side effects from that episode other than an extra day in hospital for tests which conclude I'm perfectly healthy. I had wonderful care.
Immediately following the procedure, once IV pain meds wore off, I had significant cramping, which was really helped only by high doses of Ibuprofin, not the narcotics. By nine that night, I had my last does of Ibu and didn't think to ask for it the next day. I did feel like I had to urinate a bunch immediately after procedure, but I'm back to normal now.
My doc (whom I trust as he's kind and has done hundreds of Novasures and took many precautions w/ me and my funky anatomy) didn't give me any advice about working other than go slower for a few dys if I felt I needed it and take Ibu if I needed to. I wenta little slowerand have been tired, but how much is due to anasthesia nad what to procedure, I'm not sure. I think most of the fatigue is due to everything else but Novasure including anemia from heavy period ending day of procedure. I have been changing a panty liner every four hours if I've been really movign around, but no spotting while I sleep or rest. Discharge has odor, but that seems less now. No ibuprofin for two days.
Hope to have a less than normal period, but am simply glad the procedure was done (and I'm alive ;-) ) and I can't imagine how my periods could be as heavy.

Hi all,
I had my procedure done Dec. 30th (4weeks ago). I had no problems with pain and barely spotted at first, but now for the last week and a half I have had brownish discharge. At least I know, from reading all the replies, that I am not alone. I thought returning to my work out routine was the problem, so I took a couple of days off, which did nothing to change things. I am tired of wearing a pad and am scared to start having fun with my husband again. I don't want to call my doctor again for what might be a normal reaction. Anyone else having the same issues?

I had Novasure ablation done on Feb 9, 2010. So far, no problems except for the watery discharge mentioned here, which is what led me to do a google search. I am horrified by some of the stories here; I've read every one. I cannot believe some women had this done in an office with minimal medication. I was in the hospital as an outpatient. It was very easy, and the next day I was perfectly fine. I am worried however, after reading some of the stories about severe pain and return of periods. I was really hoping to be done with heavy periods. I am a healthy 39 year old mother of two. I could have lived with my period rather than experience some of the things mentioned here on this site. Keeping my fingers crossed. Also, I did have a tubal ligation, as some mentioned a possible connection. Yikes, I'm scared now.
