I've been having this problem for what feels like forever, however i think I know the reason and maybe you guys will be similar... im currently 19 years old and when I was 8 I got diagnosed with IBS, I suffer really bad with stomach cramps and sometimes constipation or diarrhea. The 2 years ago I started getting panic attacks, only got diagnosed with a panic disorder a few months ago, but due to my panic attacks I started not sleeping then got fearful of going to bed so would plan it out during the day until I got so stressed at night I wouldn't make myself feel physically sick, my only remedy at the moment to calm down my stomach at night now is to take my panic tablet, propanolol. A IBS tablet, buscopan. Get into a feal position and play some sleep meditation music. Hope for the best and wake up smiling.

I can relate. I hate throwing up too. It is miserable because I fight it all night long. To be honest I think stress and fear can be bring on the nausea. Your mind is a powerful thing and sometimes the more you think about it makes your stomach turn. Find a way to wind down at the end of the day. Heat can bring on nausea so cool yourself with room temp or cooler shower. Avoid hot showers. Ginger has been a lifesaver for me especially when I get sea sick. You can find a lot of ginger options in a health food store. Personally I like the chews like Gin Gins or Reed's Crystalized Ginger Candy since you can chew or suck on them which distracts you from the discomfort. Also ginger ale, ginger tea, ginger cookies. (Also I heard apple cider vinegar although it is way harsh. There is sea bands which are pressure point bracelets you can wear. Lastly there is a bracelet you can wear that delivers an electrical pulse to the trigger point in the wrist. My husband got this one to conquer sea sickness. It takes getting used to but he said it works. This one is pricey. I think $200. He bought off eBay. I hope these ideas help. Do a little research on foods. There are super foods that do wonders for your body and others that in excess can hurt you. We just found out we have a broccoli sensitivity with severe stomach cramps. Never had this issue before but since we have been eating healthy, fresh, and organic we were eating a lot of broccoli which can cause gas and bloating. I stand by eating fresh natural unprocessed foods. This is the healthiest I ever have been. Stay away from over the counter meds when possible and seek a natural solution. I am not a doctor so this is not medical advise just my experience and opinion. I have been getting the nausea ever night myself. Thankfully it passes. I take cool showers at night (used to take extremely hot). I don't over eat. I watch tv to take my mind off it. I keep getting flash backs of being ill with 24 hr stomach bug so I am thinking it may be a mental thing. I tried finding more info on night nausea and the only cause I can relate to is "stress." Therefore I plan to start my evening routine earlier to try to make it easier on me, so I can spend more time unwinding and relaxing. Hope it works. Good luck everyone and God Bless.

Me too.... and it's wearing me out.... The nausea first starts with me when I'm ( sitting up ) watching TV.... Sometimes I can get it to go away be either laying down, or getting up to finish doing the dishes or something similar. At about 10:00 pm I go to bed and usually fall asleep just fine, then about 3 hours later wake up with 'butterflies' in my stomach.... can't sleep or even get comfortable.... if I get up and take a Rolaids or something similar it usually takes the problem away...... but too many Rolaids tends to constipate me.... ( I'm a 63 yr. old man )
I used to think it was connected to my 'occasional' glass ( or maybe two ) of red wine but it seems to happen regardless if I've had anything to drink or not.

Don't mix protein with starch. The stomach secretes one type of enzyme for protein digestion and another for starches. If both are secreted at the same time they cancel one another out the neither of them will work. As a result your food will sit in your stomach for many hours and cause indigestion/nausea. Also animal fat mixed with other oils will also cause indigestion. Before practicing this my food would sit in my stomach six hours, now it digests within two. Hope this helps.

Hey guys! I'm a 14 year old boy with the same problem. I've had emetophobia since I was about 9 or so, but recently I (as a one time experience) smoked marijuana (a LOT at one time) and about 2 hours in, I started projectile vomiting. I ended up fine after 10 minutes, but since then I have been getting motion sickness and nausea about 4 out of 7 nights a week. I don't think it's related to emetophobia because I have emetophobic thoughts without feeling sick before, and it's not 100% constant. My family has a history of IBS but that's about it. Help?

Constipation. Trust me. When I was in 4th and 7th grade as a kid, I'd be up every night to the point Id go to the ER. They always took X-rays then said it was constipation. Try taking laxatives.

Definately me...terrified of vomiting. About a year ago I woke up in the middle of the might vomiting. I felt so nauseous all day every day for a month. After ruling out everything including pregnancy a simple stool sample test the doctor ordered from me revealed I indeed had H Pylori. A very common bacterial infection in my stomach. After a harsh round of antibiotics I retested for the bacteria and was negative. However it left me with acid reflux issues. I tried Prilosec and Nexium and still suffered. The doctor finally put me on Protonix which has been a blessing and helped tremendously. The doctor also suggested I change my diet..no dairy..no red meat..to caffeine..no acidic fruits..no eating after 5:30pm. It has helped control it but I still have my nights I wake up nauseated and scared. It has been a year of fighting this battle and Ive lost 82 pounds but I can relate with you guys. Try changing your diet and ask your doctor for Protonix. Good luck all!

Get your thyroid checked and make them do the advanced test. It's worth it. Take care.
