I went to a gynocologist - she could feel the bump/tube on the left side but not on the right - so she ordered a Complete Pelvic Ultrasound. I suggest perhaps going to a gyno or at the very least, get a pelvic ultrasound done.
I've never had it before and to suddenly to have that lump and associated feeling (kind of like a dull ache for a few seconds) is odd to me.
She also did a thorough exam and looks like I have a mini cyst as well (which my family doctor missed) on my last pap exam (and yes, it was there over a year ago). In any case - the tube thingy has been there for over a year now - it doesn't hinder me from doing anything. I guess cysts normally "pass through" so we're not really sure what it is.
I would be really embarrassed if it's stool. o.O
A lipoma is a growth of fat cells in a thin, fibrous capsule usually found just below the skin. Lipomas are found most often on the torso, neck, upper thighs, upper arms, and armpits, but they can occur almost anywhere in the body. One or more lipomas may be present at the same time. Lipomas are the most common non-cancerous soft tissue growth.
What causes a lipoma? The cause of lipomas is not completely understood, but the tendency to develop them is inherited. A minor injury may trigger the growth. Being overweight does not cause lipomas.
What are the symptoms of a lipoma?Lipomas usually:
Are small [1 cm (0.4 in.) to 3 cm (1.2 in.)] and felt just under the skin. Are movable and have a soft, rubbery consistency.Do not cause pain.Remain the same size over years or grow very slowly.Often the most bothersome symptom is the location or increased size that makes the lipoma noticeable by others.
How are lipomas diagnosed?A lipoma can usually be diagnosed by its appearance alone, but your health professional may want to remove it to make sure the growth is non-cancerous.
How are lipomas treated?Lipomas do not generally require treatment. Because lipomas are not cancerous growths and cannot become cancerous, they do not need to be removed. There is no known treatment to prevent lipomas or affect their growth.
A lipoma may be surgically removed if symptoms develop, such as if the lipoma:
Becomes painful or tender.Becomes infected or inflamed repeatedly.Drains foul-smelling discharge.Interferes with movement or function.Increases in size.Becomes unsightly or bothersome. Most lipomas can be removed in the doctor's office or outpatient surgery centre. The doctor injects a local anesthetic around the lipoma, makes an incision in the skin, removes the growth, and closes the incision with stitches (sutures). If the lipoma is in an area of the body that cannot be easily reached through a simple incision in the skin, the lipoma may need to be removed in the operating room under general anesthesia.
Who is affected by lipomas?Lipomas occur in all age groups but most often appear in middle age. Single lipomas occur with equal frequency in men and women. Multiple lipomas occur more frequently in men.

I know what this is!!! It may sound gross but it's actually your feces in your intestine. You can feel it sometimes but not others because it goes away when you have a bowel movement. This happens to me all the time as I do not poop very often and so therefore it backs up. Its never completely gone for me unless I have a day of diarrhea.
I have the same condition, but there is pain. When I palpate the spot, it feels deeper, closer to the bone, but not on the bone. It actually moves when I push on it and it is tender and sometimes more or less, worse in the morning. Also, it's not poop, cause I had a colonoscopy and my bowels were clear. The MD said the colonoscopy was clear with no abnormalities, but because they had pushed air into the bowels during the procedure, it caused an extreme amount of pain afterward. I've also had 2 CT scans and 2 Ultrasounds which revealed nothing. So I'm still searching for a MD that may be able to diagnose this problem. ???// :-/
Has anyone thought maybe this lump could be caused by intestinal parasites?

Due to some recent hip problems I've been doing physiotherapy. Awhile ago i noticed if i lie own and sit cross legged my left side 'where the tube thing is' felt tight around there as if im restrained from stretching that area ( but i can still stretch it) i asked my physiotherapist. She examined it and smiled.( cant remember exact words) " its just a leg tendon ( some sort of tendon) everyone has it even on the other hip, just some peoples have rather larger ones. Usually you cant get bigger ones unless u do some sort of exercise"
Even if she said thati was not completely convinced but it could be a lipoma as someone said above. They are not dangerous.
I hope i helped abit!
i have the exact same thing! im only 15 and about 95 pounds. ive noticed it for about a month and i thought it was no big deal but i still haev it. its really weird. its only on my left side of my hip bone and i can only really feel it laying down. im kind of worried, my mom says it might justr be poop though
I have the same thing, I'm kind of freaked out about it because I'm only 17. My father has had 8 hernias in his lifetime and they started when he was a teenager as well. I asked a few family member and family friends and they said it felt like as if it was a hernia. Any answers?
I am not skinny. I'm 30 years old & about 60 lbs over weight. I have oval shaped knots over each hip. I have just noticed them w/in the last month. They are very painful. I have to carry my (almost) 2 year old & putting her on hip seems unreal at times. So I am unsure about what it is, but I do know that it is not just because you are young or skinny. I also know that this should be talked about. It is becoming a common problem. Look at all of us that are suffering. We are not suffering alone.
It seems this is a bit old of a thread but I have been experiencing the same. I have been to a doc about this and he stated that it is stool. To be more specific, stool in the colon. i have been... "blocked up" for about a year now. I am on the strongest pain meds out there which is adding to this prob. the last few months the left side of my flank and stomach/abdomen have swollen up to four times the size. doc stated that taking a fiber supplement should help. go by the directions. also a NON STIMULENT laxitive and if needed, a stool softener. hope this helps everyone. I am not a doc, if this is still an issue for ya, check one out. if it matters, im a 29 year old male. if you want a recommendation on a lax or fiber supp i will pass on what my doc told me. best of luck.
