I too have this problem, what I have figured out is people have slightly differnt normal body tempreatures, There is a friend of mine who does not suffer from sore throat even once in a year, so the difference between both of us are the normal body tempreature. I meet my friend every day, In rainy season the tempreature in Mumbai - India is around 24 -30 degree C, so even in that tempreature he fells that temperature is hot and he sweats alot and I dont sweat a single drop. He eats / drink everthing that is cold every day but he never suffers with sore throat. But If I take any cold drinks or eat ice cream or curd I start to suffer from sore throat, so i have found the solution for this. Try to avoid drink / eat anything which is cold. But sometimes I cant stop myself from drinking / eating cold , I have found a syrup which contains ambroxol hydrochloride and it work wonders it cures my sore throat very fast The name of syrup is "Dilo BM" WARNING: consult your doctor first if you plan to take it So I think its our genes to be blamed our body tempreature is on the cooler side. BTW most of the people here suffering from sore throat amy also suffer from the problem of cold hands and feet

noush.. if youver been on antibiotics like penicillin constantly or a lot, you're body can get immune to it and it will no longer work for you. i had stre throat 5 months ago and ever since then ive been getting sore throats.. i have no idea what is wrong with me. i was tested for mono but it was negative. my tonsils are constantly enlarged and i will have to go to my doctor to see about getting them removed. i know this didnt help you very well, but it could be the imunity to penicillin which is causing it to stop working. id talk to your doctor, or a different doctor. keep getting different opinions. one doctor may know or may have treated something like your case. good luck.

Wow! This thread has been going for years and still no answers! That doesn't sound very promising for me. Would like to see more participation and get an update from those who originally posted 7 years ago.I have never had mono, but am getting tested for it next week. At first I thought my chronic sore throat was from smoking, so I quit. 5 months later it has made no difference. I then started to worry about throat cancer, and did a Barium Swallow Xray. Turns out I have GERD. My sore throat continuously got worse after I was diagnosed with GERD, even though I am on 2 different (and expensive) stomach medications. The stomach acid backs up at night into the throat and burns your esophagus. It irritates everything and can also cause dental issues. Would make sense why the throat is sore in the morning. I have a few other health issues such as circulation issues, Endometriosis, IBS, Diverticulitis, post-nasal drip, sinus headaches, earaches, worsening eyesight, eczema, Tonsiliths, mouth ulcers, dental issues, chronic fatigue, anxiety and depression. I am sure some of these issues exasperate the others. Life becomes very difficult when things compound like this. I swear, if one more doctor tells me my sore throat is because I clear my throat too much, they're going to be sorry.

I don't know if it really is the GERD or something else. I have tried the same remedies as you all, and nothing! I'm good for 2 weeks, then 3 days of dry, sore, throat with tonsils that feel hard when I swallow, even when they aren't swollen that bad. It gets hard to speak for me as well, my vocals get strained easily. I have noticed small "grain of salt" sized dots all over the inside of my mouth.  Also, the veins in the throat get more prominent and red during this time. I'm just exhausted dealing with all of this. I am starting to feel like a hypochondriac and my fiance is tired of hearing about it. I really wish there was a definite answer. I feel like I have to doctor myself. Who knows, maybe there are new diseases that are developing and no research done on them yet. Here are a few interesting ideas that could relate to the throat disorder. Let me whats working for you guys!http://www.entnet.org/HealthInformation/tonsilsAdenoids.cfm

I'm with you. How come nobody has any real causes to this sore throat issue. I too have had sore throats for 9 months now. I have lost my voice a few times, throat feels dry and raw, thought it was due to a cold at first but sore throat never really went away and congestion did. They tend to clear up for a few days and get worse again. A constant cycle.

Doc said my nasal passage is swollen so I probably cant breath through my nose. Gave me steroid nasal inhaler and singulair. Started making my throat feel better but within the first week I thought I had asthma. I couldnt get enough air, didnt sleep at night as not breathing well & gave me anxiety. week two, sore throat again but can breathe thru nose. Suppose to give it a month. He is thinking allergies, but I never had an allergy before nor has the seasons been the same around here. From Ice and snow to 90+

I will keep you posted if I figure anything out.

I've had a sore throat like this for the longest time and i suspect it's my allergies but it's so annoying. It's like when you're throat is sore from a cold but i don't have a cold and cough drops and water only do so much. I also clear am constantly clearing my throat and coughing. It gets more noticeable if i talk a lot.....lately i've been getting little white bumps in the back of my throat that go away and then come back...its frustrating. I'm hoping once it's fall where i live it won't be so bad...

Guys, I have the exact same problem and I'm dying for a solution. All that I can think about when my throat is OK is whether it will be bad again for whatever plan I have or when its not OK whether the pain will go away before the time for my next weekend. Please post it here if you get cured somehow. Thank you.

Sore throat (chronically): dry mucous membrane. If there are great problems for a long time: probably there is not enough iron in the mucous membrane.

You need iron. But the iron from the iron pills don't go in your body only if You take vitamin C. But iron don't build in your mucous membrane, only if You eat protein, for ex. meat.

Coffein/coffee, coca-cola, some kind of tea, etc/ milk /cheese, butter, etc/, eggs /ham end eggs, pasta containing egg, etc/ blocks the iron to build in the mucous membrane.

In serious cases in Hungary in the 1960's 200-300mg iron/day was given to people with serious problems like atrophic laryngitis. Patient suffering 10-15-20 years was cured. But if there are to much iron, Your liver can be killed. Iron can make difficult Your excrement.

Before starting the iron treatment, You need to make control the iron in your blood. If it's very low, probably the iron treatment will be a solution. If there ary enough iron, you can try to eat some vitamin C regularly and eat some meat - because iron builds in your body with difficulties.

In reply to the sore throat message:

I would like to suggest to all with sore throat problems, frequent or not - to rinse throat with SALT WATER. As long as you mix enough salt to make water taste salty - it'll work. Germs multiply every 20 minutes. I usually rinse every 30 minutes. usually it goes away by the end of the dya when it's bad. If a mild case, and I start early - as soon as I feel the soreness - it goes away in a few hours.

Every one who read this - Please try next time you happen to have sore throat.
