Where ever your skin is abraded or simply in long contact with offending materials you will display your particular reaction. Papers, plastics, it's not hard to quicken the response, paperback reader. Soft cottony stuff is best for one's better self, and I try to wear nitrile gloves when ever I make messes that require frequent hand washing. Keep a few pair in your purse and glove compartment, of course.

Check out the bloke who spoke of Vitamin D and low thyroid. I have been diagnosed low D and suffer occasionally from depressive anxiety. My brother has same emotional and skin condition and was just diagnosed low thyroid. I get anxious thinking I may be losing it when I really just need to take my D. Seriously, it can lift a gloomy cloud like a ray of sunshine. Literally.

Only cream will work

I have this. My dermatologist prescribed clobetasol cream. It is a steroidal med and helped clear it up. However it came back. Im using CereVe cream, now, it helps. Gloves help, use gentle soaps. I empathize with all of you, it's painful as well as embarrassing. If anyone finds a cure, please post.

I have this. It's been almost 2 years now, I used to play guitar and now I cant. The Herpes comment is wrong, I was tired and went to a Dr. and made him do all sort of Labs to me. All came back negative. Only findings Cholesterol was OK but could be better and VITAMIN D was extremely LOW. Thyroids where OK.

I did try one of the crèmes here; TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE Cream USP, 0.5%. WORKS LIKE A CHARM, but its keeps trying to come back. Although NOT as before which was very aggressive. Now its more like the hard skin on a small part of the tip of my finger. But for the first time in almost 2 years I don't have the tip of my fingers in pain.

That crème is the only thing that is controlling it and I DONT USE GLOVES.

THANKS YOU ALL.

Quick update. Believe it or not. VICKS (Original) also helps with the soaring and peeling. Put it on and cover it with something, It will sound stupid but I use a half napkin and a bit of masking tape so it breaths a little. the thing is it doesn't evaporate to soon. Did this because I left the cream at my house today and I was treating a little comeback stage....

But still the TRIAMCINOLONE is the way to go for now.

I have had the same problem in the past, I thought it was from pottery as I got it when I was doing a lot of pottery at school. It eventually went away but now, a few years later it t back very badly. I am 15 and I rock climb but I don't think that it is related to that. Climbing makes it worse but I don't think that it caused it. The peeling started after a school retreat canoeing on the river. It got worse over a few weeks and got to the point where my left thumb and pointer fingers were extremely tender, very red and angry looking. I went to the doctor who said it could be caused from exposure to chemicals but thats definitely not why I got it. She prescribed me hydrocortisone cream for eczema, I've been using it twice a day for two weeks and it hasn't helped.

gluten causes this I think

Dyshidrotic Eczema. You need a steroid. Merlons Skin Repair cream (Amazon) is a HUGE help as well.

Just a fungus of the fingertips, soak hands in vinegar or apple cider vinegar, but don't dilute it. Soak for at least 15-20 minutes. I was cured after 1 soak, might need multiple soaks if a severe case.

My fingers look just like those pictures. A few weeks ago my finger tips had these sore bumps that appeared to be under the skin. Then, the bumps dried up and now my skin is just peeling. They even have that same wrinkly redness. I have no idea why this happened or what the problem is.

My fingertips just started to do this 3 months ago. I get the tiny blisters and then they dry yp and then peel. My thumbs and pinkies and ring fingers are the only fingers that do it. They are so raw I don't think I have fingerprints on them anymore. They feel like I put my fingertips on a hot stove burner and burned them. I really want to know what it is and why all of a sudden this happened to me!!!!!

My hands look exactly like that. They don't hurt at all but they started peeling a week ago and won't stop. I've never had this happen to me before and I'm so upset cuz I'm getting married in September

I have had a form of rheumatoid arthritis since I was 13. I am now 22 and have had this skin rash/ blistering on and off since I was 8 years old. My finger nails have started coming off as well. It used to just be a little lifted but now some have mooned to halfway up my nail bed. I wasn't sure if it was an alergic reaction. I asked my rheumatologist about a week ago what the skin rash on my hands could be since it doesn't look like egzima (spelling sorry), and she said it didn't look like an autoimmune problem. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone.
