You poor thing. This stomach thing started happening to me in university. It's usually after lunch time. Nowadays, it happens too but not too often. At one point in life, I worked a 9-5 job, and by 2pm, those noses would come to haunt me. Ideally, I should have been sitting on the toilet for a bit to pass gas, but its work after all. Anyway, I now work mostly from home and only go to public quiet events once in awhile, which I will have to be careful.
1st, do yoga! Yoga helped me so much in relieving this noise that I even completed a yoga teacher training. I wasn't the only one. Others who had stomach noises also joined.
2nd, eat mindfully. Never rush when you eat. Chew to the pulp. Eat by yourself so you don't talk and eat air, which can cause gas.
3rd, drink water. Liquids can help flush things out and enhance elimination
4th, take probiotics. They're expensive, so I only do it when I really need it.
Good luck!

PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW TO GET RID OF THE GROWLING
I had the growling everyday for a year and I hated when the classroom got quiet because I was so afraid it was going to happen. I went to the doctor and got tested for Celiac Disease. Trust me its either CELIAC DISEASE or you are lactose intolerant. Everyone is talking about Anxiety on this form and this does play a key role. People can have the gene for Celiac Disease and when you go through a stressful experience in your life or you are just an anxious person, the gene can turn on. This is what happened to me Sophomore year. I went gluten free and I haven't had the growling in years. However, since Celiac is an Autoimmune disease, stress can make the symptoms a million times worse. So....to the people that are on this form who said that its just anxiety, that is not 100 percent true. Yes if you are anxious about it, it will just make the growling worse.
THESE ARE THE STEPS YOU NEED TO TAKE
1. Go to the doctors and ask for a blood test to check for celiac disease
2. If they say you have it, then you need to go 100% gluten free (it took me about a year to feel completely better and this is because your intestines are torn apart and need to heal) and in addition, you need to make sure that if you are an anxious person, you need to learn how to control this. Since Celiac is an Autoimmune disease stress makes the symptoms flare up
3. If you do not have it....still try going gluten free for about 2 months just in case you are gluten intolerant
4. If that doesn't work, try going lactose intolerant or get a breath test for it
Best of luck to everyone! Know that you are not alone

i'm having the same problem with you guys. i don't know what to do! i have been struggling with this since i was in grade 8 but it only got worse in in grade 10. it would happen in class when it is quiet and it can't control it. my friends probably think i'm crazy if only they know. i'm afraid to tell my parents and go to the doctors. my exams are coming up and i'm in grade 11 now, i just turned 17 a week and so ago. i think this has gotten worse due to a trumatic experience that has happened to me when i was 14, ever since then it just keeps getting worse. i try to go bathroom but nothing comes out. i hate it so much i feel like i'm alone and i just want to lock myself in my room forever. i hate school so much because of that reason. my hraddd are dropping and due to not paying attention in class and worrying about the growling. sometimes the growling is louder than other days. i feel like it gets louder when i'm most anxious or when i'm trying to cover the sound up.
i don't know what it is, i pray every day it goes away! i'm sick of if it's ruining my life!
it is happening right now as i'm typing

I have the same problem ever since middle school. In middle school, I hated sitting in quiet classes. For English class, my teacher would make us read independently, which was so nerve wrecking. For exams my butt would start growling and I would wish to be swallowed by the earth, it was the worst. My friends were the best that is why I never really cared to find a solution or find a way to control it until I got to high school. I felt and still feel out of place, judged and like a freak in high school. I'm a junior this year and this year was the worst. I had to transfer schools because I couldn't control it. My school that I was previously in was like an hour away and it started early that I didn't even get a chance to use the bathroom properly and let out gas from the other day at home. In that school, my butt would growl and it made me anxious and have a low self-esteem. I have social anxiety now and I try to avoid people. When I transferred schools to a school near and with a later schedule my situation got a bit better except that now I had to deal with something else...btw besides having a loud stomach/anus problem, I have constipation.Anyways I can give ya advice on how to control it. Don't overeat, eat slowly to get full faster, drink lots of water at home (6 cups), drink tea, and eat prunes. I eat snacks throughout the school day because heavy foods make my situation worse. I also don't eat late because if i eat late I will have to use the bathroom or pass gas around 10 am or so which is school hours. I also cut off soda because it causes gas. Try to fix ur diet and see how your digestive system works. this is how i minimize my problem, although I still get it a few times throughout the day.

I'm literally going through the exact same thing right now. Absolutely everything that I just read felt like I was reading about my own life. I missed so much of my classes that they put me in a class for delinquent students. I'm actually a really good student but when this problem started to occur in my classes I was way too embarrassed to go back so I stopped going to my classes. It got to a point that I was self harming, so when you say that nobody u derstands I totally understand everything.

I had this same issue all through school! It is awful.. fearing quiet places, not being able to focus in class cause I was so anxious of when it would happen and mortified when it happened( it always happened!).. I spent all of jr high and high school like this.. it is extremely embarrassing and is very scaring emotionally.. and the worst is that no one can relate! When you try to talk about it no one understands you and thinks your crazy and overreacting. I really feel for you, I can relate and you are not over reacting. When I was 18 I finally got to a doctor who diagnosed me as having an allergy to wheat and gluten. I cut it completely out of my diet.. all of the noises stopped! It took a few weeks, but omg the difference was amazing. I remember thinking this is what everyone else must feel like all the time.. my stomach felt so relaxed and I no longer fear quiet places.. I became more social and actually started dating (never did until then I was so embarrassed)... even if a doctor doesn't diagnose you, just try to cut out ALL wheat and gluten.. I really hope that is the answer for you. ((Hugs))

Yea! This was the answer for me too. Gluten is evil, it put me through so much embarrassment, shame, and isolation.. just awful. So glad I found the solution though.
