I can relate to this. I find it way too embarrassing to talk about to anyone though. I had some exams last week and it happened in my exam! Evey single person was silent, sitting and writing away...and there's me with my problem - making weird noises! HOW EMBARRASSING!!!!! I can't ever control it! I don't know when it's going to happen and when it does, it's just awful! It's like you have gas, and you're going to pass wind but instead a weird growl sound comes out?? :( I hope you can sort yours out :) Whenever it happens to me in class/exam, I just figet with pens or turn pages to make sounds to try and hide my horrible sounds but people always look and stare :( It's a horrible feeling when it happens but I'm not very confident when talking about certain things and way too embarrassed to say anything. Atleast you told your parents about it x

I had the same problem with my stomach growling, even if I ate. So when it happened I would make some turning page or just ignored it and let the class think it was someone else

I know excatly how you feel. I feel the very same way and i am living the same situation as you are. Mine actually began back in 5th grade. Its been like 10 years now. During high school i would skip class, stay home just to avoid these gumbling noices from my stomach and colon. Have you tried a detox? maybe by cleaning out the colon and then having a healthy diet and exersice can help eliminate the problem. That is what im going to try. I will report back and let you knwo how that worked out for me. Its so strange how there seems to be alot of ppl that seem to suffer from this, yes doctors dont know what it is. I saw we all do a convention and invite all these doctors to do tests on us so they can figure out what in the world we have hahaha.

Hi, I was wondering if you found the answer to this problem as I have a 14 year old daughter who is suffering from the exact same thing and no one is giving us any answers and all test are coming up clear.
Thanks

i recently got the same problem,i am african..i used not to have this type of problem until i came to the UK,i think the culture change in terms of food is the cause, the food is different and i think its the one causing it,I advice you to fart alot and empty your stomach twice daily,in the morning and in the afternoon because the problem usually starts at 2.30pm

Hi kigobear, something you said really sparks my interest. I also have this horrible problem which has decimated my life like you wouldn't believe. But, I noticed you said about swallowing toothpaste... this problem started for me when I swallowed some toothpaste one time. I had never had any problems before then with my stomach, then I swallowed some toothpaste and bam, my stomach and intestines started growling and have never shut up... Please if you read this can you reply to me, or anyone else who might believe this problem started for them from swallowing toothpaste. Thank you.

Hey there, you probably found an answer but I get what you went/hopefully not still going through. For me it started in Year 8 I don't know what grade that is but I was thirteen. I had never had these problems before suddenly my stomach would be quiet. It was embarrassing, I was known for being really shy and quiet. Thankfully nobody ever picked on me but it was so embarrassing, I used to be able to deal with it though. I thought things would change when I got to highschool. No. It was still the same and I really dreaded quiet places and situations, whereas I used to prefer tests so that I didn't have to be in social situations, I craved there to be noise in rooms. There was a slight respite, I was still conscious of noise but it wasn't noticeable from what I remember of year 10. Year 11; my final year. I was ready to get the high grades I was predicted in my finals but my stomach noises/internal farts started again but worse than ever. I couldn't believe it. I started skipping school. Just walking out of class and out of the school, I don't know how I managed it high security or whatever. Obviously soon teachers started noticing my absence and I soon reached well past acceptable amounts of absences. I was kept in school and put in an access class. Basically a class for misfits and people who aren't ever enough to do class. All the while my friends were asking wth was going on? And I couldn't say 'stomach farts make me skip school' could I? You can imagine what outcome that would get. So I had been skipping class and skipping access too. Imagine being stuffed into a small classroom full of bullies, mean kids and thugs with internal farts. It was a nightmare. Come December, I was in a really bad state of depression, my parents say they were scared that I was going to try and commit suicide I was so low. Thankfully the really bad depression only lasted a month or two an I slowly made my way out but I had such phobias of quiet places that I couldn't and still find it difficult to be in silent/quiet rooms. My anxiety had got to such a degree that I felt sick all the time and had to sleep downstairs on the couch watching tv all night. I am homeschooled now and that has made things so much easier. I am having counselling but as they don't know the true reasoning behind my problems they can't help. But for anyone frantically searching through forums like I was only a few years ago. I have a cure. It works for me and I would swear by it. I don't know if it will apply to everyone though. Tracing back to the start of my problems; it all started when I stopped exercising (I was extremely active and athletic) and started putting on weight. For me it is also because I am not only lactose intolerant but intolerant to wheat. Since I stopped eating both, I have not felt sick which before was so bad I had tablets for it. I have lost weight and bloating has gone down. The real key however is EXERCISE. When I stopped doing it, my problems started. Since doing exercise all noises have stopped only normal teeny tiny gurgles. I really recommend stomach crunches, and sit ups I have been doing at least one hundred per day but don't over do it especially if you are not used to exercise. I recommend curls, strengthening your biceps. Squats are also brilliant as are push ups. Running will also do wonders. But your number one exercise for stomach problems should be crunches/situps. The stronger your stomach muscles are the better. The real test for me will be taking finals. So to anyone who has suffered with this horrible predicament I would say get a check for food intolerance. And exercise, exercise , exercise! Good luck. Poppy.
