I have the same problem and it has scared me away from socializing and eating in public. The first time it happened was during a test in an auditorium my freshman year of highschool, a friend sitting three rows behind me heard it. It disappeared for years but came back after a stressful time in college and has gotten more consistant over the past two years. Ive never had any health issues. It always happens when its quiet or if i have on headphones in public. Ive tried glueten free diet but it does not stop the noise. Recently i found that a strawberry medium milkshake a day solves the problem. And if you know someone who you can relax with and laugh with it will actually helps to relax the digestive system and the noise disappears for a little while. Good luck, may we find a cure to this curse some day soon.

Try eating yogurt and a banana for breakfast. You can make it into a smoothie too if you like, but don't use any dairy. Yogurt is acceptable and great bc it has probiotics. You may be lactose intolerant. Check that out.

Hi! I have this same problem. However, mine started at around 11 years old. Actually a few months before I turned 12. I am now 34 years old. It has brought quite a challenge to my life. I'm really looking for a support system. I hope we can chat about this issue. I really am at the end of the road and would like to talk to someone who knows what I am going through.

In public you should hold it in but if your alone or with family then FART loud and be PROUD. Remember the louder the fart the better it feels when it rips out. I'm a boy and I fart loud about 35 times a day.

I have 8 years of experience in this problem. It has ruined my life, the best days of them, you know it.. But I have recently found a method that works. The source of my problem is the mucus of upper respiratory system, (nose maybe). I MUST clear my throat ALL the time, especially when I wake up for a drink or ... at night. I MUST spit out ANYTHING which is thicker than normal saliva. The cleaning process may take up to an hour! (frequent pumping of upper throat and spitting out) and is an ongoing process during the day. Stomach acid seems to be of no match to these secretions, and if they reach my intestines, gurgling restarts (especially after 5:00 PM). If I clean my throat during the night and day, my intestine will be as quiet as stone. Try my method, and please feedback on it here. (SLZ).

Same exact problem. Im going to high school in a few weeks and have been thinkin all summer about how quiet a classroom would be. It seems like no one gets it but me. I would try to flip pages, drop pencils, and just move around to make noise when i felt it coming. I wish i could make it stop because all i do is think about this weird noise ALL THE TIME. My mom tells me dont think about it and it wont happen and sometimes that will work but sometimes not.

I also had very similar problems. Has anybody with these symptoms been tested for helicobacter pylori? I had never heard of it until I finally went to see a gastroenterologist who found this bacterial infection to be the cause. Apparently my symptoms were atypical of the infection so I would suggest you get this test done and at least rule it out if it is not this. Good luck.

I had been diagnosed with H.Pylori, did cure it, but the gurgling problem persisted. That is not the cause.

Hi.I`m going to try your method of cleaning a throat. This one is really wierd.I want to ask you to describe some more details , so please: Does your tongue looks normal?Like , nothing crazyly different about it?Cause mine is like a little white and totally normal for me. Do you do it after eating? How many times in a day? What about school( college/whatever)? is there a time for it?How hard would you rate it?(1 to 10)How the hell did you come up with it? I noticed that my cacaphony gets crazier after water drinking with food and a need to poop.Though it also never stops by itself.Im asking you it all cause Ive got my own method for 100% silense. TO SHUT UP MY BUTT - squeeze the exit for 30- 40 min. I wake up, do stuff for 20-30 min and after i go to have breakfast and start squeezing it. Kind of hard. Works for 6-10 hours( if you dont need to poop/ if you want to do it at night) .It starts growling - repeat squeezing. FOR SILENCE IN STOMACH- its freaking hard. I dont drink while I eat and after it. No more than a few drops at all:( It guarantees silense it already helped to 1 girl.

You are describing my symptoms. A number of signs made me suspicious about something being wrong in the mouth or nose or throat. First one was a "home test for Candida" which uses a glass of water, which came out highly positive for me. Second, I had noticed that deep cleaning the mouth (good brushing and flossing) and then using a strong, alcohol based mouthwash could help to keep the intestine silent for a few hours. Third, the only medicine which worked for me was a strong antibiotic (Metronidazol) and this also contributed to the hypothesis that a microorganism is the culprit. Lastly, I remember that the thickening of my saliva and the strong growling were started simultaneously 8 years ago.

My tongue ALWAYS looked white, leading me to brush it aggressively, however, after one month of throat cleaning, my tongue's whiteness has reduced drastically. I clean my throat before bed, in the middle of the night (if I wake up), in the morning, and just after eating, that is, I am vigilant not to swallow any secretions of back throat, they easily come out after eating and drinking.

School for me is of no problem (I am 36!) but other classes were nightmare (on your scale, 10). I am planning to go back to collage to get my M.A, since I am sure that I can attend the classes with no worries.

By keeping in mind the above-said clues I came across this method.

Like you, drinking or even sipping water used to bring my intestine before the microphone :), now I am paying close attention to the slightly-thicker-secretions of the throat, especially, after drinking and eating. Spit it out whenever you can. Now I am confident that the problem is from this material, and I will consult a specialist of the throat if I find time, but no longer a gastrointestinal expert. It's a relief to find the silence and calmness of the intestine(s) again. I hope this method works for you too, start by paying attention to the THICKNESS of the back-throat secretions and the difference it has with normal saliva. Spit it out if it is not normal.

To whoever reads this post: Please comment if you have tested my method, or other methods that work. (SLZ)

Hi again and thanks for your reply :)I also tried this test one morning but i couldnt even spit my saliva out in a glass and didnt give much thought to it.Today I tried your method. Well , I tried my best to get away the bad saliva which was soo hard, its also is the first time noticed that my saliva is wierdly thick aand, there is like a wad of mucus in my throat! I was "coughing" loudly with all my might but eventualy, it went only deeper..I wish I could just put there a magic brush and clean it all out withot vomiting , but..I dont know , with all my trying growling got away for like 2 hours.hell knows. Before I tried anti-candida diet and yeast-free food with pills- nah.. metronidazol - nah. But today Ive got an idea. There are some good reasons that Im gonna drink water with soda on an empty stomach and rinse my throat with it. I will tell later how it will work

I wish you luck.

Yet another hypotheses is that a bit of these secretions will be swallowed by each morsel and every sip of drink, that is why when we drink water, the problem exacerbates. The water is not bad for our problem per se, the problem maker is the bit of the secretion which will be loosened and swallowed easily. We should prevent unintentional swallowing at first place. I guess cleaning the throat by swallowing them will only worsen the problem therefore, rinsing with soda or water in the morning (if you are going to swallow) does not look like a good idea to me. To me, gentle coughing, sucking the upper throat (as opposed to sucking the esophagus, which causes stomach acid reflex), and spitting out the abnormal saliva is a better practice. I also recommend that you check for "tonsil stones" as well.

I remember that not long ago, even reading on this subject would have triggered severe gurgling! but fortunately, now the intestines are ok and I think this will last.

We are only at the first phase of solving the problem, if some people with this problem confirm my hypothesis, we can step to phase 2, that is finding the main source (sinuses maybe) and a magic brush.

I've had this problem for about half a year now. I'm 17 at the moment but the "whining" from my butt and the "farting" from my stomach started last spring when I was 16. When I read that I SHOULD CHECK IF I DID SOMETHING DIFFERENTLY BEFORE the noises, I realised I started having them after a certain incident. I'm just going to write it here in case it gives any information.
I had asthma when I was younger, but grew out of it. I don't know if it had anything to do with what happened. The last few years - at rare occasions - I'VE HAD BIG PROBLEMS WITH COUGHING (always after me having some kind of flue). It'd start itching on the left side of my throat and I would not be able to stop coughing until around 5-20 minutes later. I would cough without stops until I had tears in my eyes and would have gag reflexes. The coughing only helped for a little while - then it started again. Taking lots of asthma medicin seemed to slightly help.
THE RELEVANT INFO: I found the only way to stop these attacks to be having cough drops in my mouth 24/7 in school. When my latest coughing problem (spring last year - when the noises started) was about to stop, was calming down, my stomach, and especially butt, started making these noises.
I've come to the conclusion that there could be THREE POSSIBLE REASONS for the sounds: 1. The cough drops screwed up my system. 2. I developed some kind quiet-room- anxiety by constantly being terrified of having another attack. 3. There is something in my saliva that is the reason for my coughing, too.

My noises have gotten better since I've gotten better at controlling my mind, which means i can relax. I wish you luck in finding a way to deal with this problem.
