I HAVE THIS PROBLEM AS WELL it's not as extreme as you're describing it but my butt and stomach have been making weird noises too for about 2 years, I've noticed it happens in the early morning and stops around noon. I thought I was the only one with this problem and I too tried to research it but could never find any solutions. I've never thought about going to a doctor or anything because I didn't think it was that severe. I want it to stop though. I too get emberrassed in class when this happens, I feel when it's going to make noise so I try to rustle my papers or cough or something just so it won't be loud. I'm tired of it happening though. I want answers, I mean if this is happening to people shouldn't doctors know what it is? It may be very rare but I'm sure there's many people with this problem but they ignore it. I just want to know what causes it and why.

Hi All,

I am 36 years old.  I was in class and  14 years old when mine started.  It was the most embarrissing day in my life, as the whole class burst out laughing.  It affected my grades.  I could never concentrate on school work, i was alway concentrating on how to make it stop.   I had tests done, I was told it's all in my head.  I was told it is IBS.  I somehow lived with it and managed to work, where I always move around, and not sit all the time.  The last 3 years I have been working in a office, and I sit most of the time.  We go for training every now and then and I always try and work my way out of it.  I have spoken to my MD about it, but I still have to go for training and meetings.  I try and eat less and more plain stuff on the days of the trainings/meetings.  I get up from the table if I feel that something embarrassing  might happen.  I have stop going to church for years now. I have been to see a movie once in a theatre and never again.  I always meet my friends in bars or malls.  I don't have quite romantic dinners.  I am always trying to move.  Even in bed, it is bothering me.  I have stop drinking gas beverages long ago, as it seems to make it even worse.

I have been to a specialist last year  and he said that my body is allergic to all food types.  I have tried to cut out the wheat, gluten, milk, sugar and beans.  Nothing seems to help.  I am so  desperate to get help or any advise.  I do moderate exercise.  For years I thought it was only me with this problem.  It is a problem that can't be explained to people who don't have similar problems.

If there is anybody out there who has got a solution or an answer, please tell us what it is, and if it can be treated.

can happen.  It has not been very easy for me to live with this.

Omg I just read this and I'm going through the same exact thing! It's my first year of college and I've missed so many classes because of it! I hate it I pay so much to be in college but this stupid problem is making dread going to class! It has never happened before to me though not even in high school. I feel like maybe we get because we have anxiety I don't know but this really sucks :(

Hi,You must feel awful but don't give up trying to figure out what is the cause. there has to be something. Keep going back to doctors and get second opinion aswell.Did you have a colonoscopy done at the hospital? If not I would recommend that you go back to your doctor and have them to get you an appointment to get one done. could be the start of Ulcerative Colitis or Chrohn's Disease. Both are Bowels disease. you said that you could have diarrhea and then constipated again. Is there anything else you notice in your bowel, blood or mucas?? My sister suffers from Colitis and I myself are starting to get the symtoms as she has so I'm goin for a scope next month.

Please let me know how you get on. Best of luck.

Ive had the exact same problem since the 8th grade. It all started one day when I was sitting in my first period and then the sounds began. I didn't know what to do. It would be terrifyingly quiet everyday in my first few periods and I'd do anything just to not let my stomach and butt noises be heard by the other kids. I remember always carrying a jacket with me so I could sit on it when the noises began. It always made me feel like the noises were shut out because I placed my jacket in my chair. Just like you, I did everything I could to avoid school. I went to the nurse and asked to be sent home. I asked my mom if I could just stay home some days. My mom always just thought it wasn't a big deal but then she told me it was because I was constipated and anxious all the time. She told me she went through the same thing when she was younger. Which brings me to my first solution, when you need to poop, POOP. Don't hold it in. When you need to pass gas, PASS GAS. It's meant to be released, not to be kept inside your body. I know, i know, it's embarrassing but, just ask to go to the restroom to poop or maybe just pass gas. Don't keep it in. It will only make the situation even worse, trust me. I'm a graduating senior and I've been dealing with this problem since 8th grade. Second solution, ease your mind! It might all just be in your head! You think about it too much which causes you get anxiety, which might also lead to the butt and stomach growls. I think it mostly contributes to the stomach growls though. Any butt noises is most likely associated with not pooping or not passing gas which is what I came to find out. I fixed my stomach growls of hunger by drinking tons of water before a period. That way, I wasn't hungry because I was already filled with water. However, I know you said the stomach growls happen even when you're not hungry. So, I still think it's related to constipation or lack of passing gas. Overall, everyday in 6th period I get the bubbly stomach and I think I know why. I eat a big lunch fast, which i think causes all the noises to come out because my stomach is trying to digest all this food at the same time. I always try to poop at least twice a day. My solutions to this problem consist of being confident, relieving yourself, pace yourself when eating, don't overdue it and eat a big lunch like me, drink a lot of water between the class periods that the growls most likely start happening, try pooping before the class period the growing most likely starts. To help with the confidence, talk to people! I found that the problem went away when I had a lot of good friends close by! Which also made me think that it's not just my body causing the problems, but also my anxiety! I don't have anxiety or self esteem issues anymore because I basically accepted it. It is what it is. I still get embarresed when it happens but it's happens to the best of us. Oh, and workout! Stand up and walk around class or the hallways after breakfest or lunch. Help your digestive system by walking instead of immediately sitting down in a chair! And i'm glad I found this post. It was so relatable that I honestly felt like I was the only one even though I knew I wasn't. I remember going to the doctor and they took an xray of my intestines snd saw I was constipated but I never saw the xray so to this day, I still don't feel what the doctor told me was true. I figured it was just their way of telling me to shut up and stop visiting the doctors office so often lol. But, I hope this helps! I don't wish this problem upon anyone because it is honestly such a brutal self esteem ruiner and such an unhappy life too.

Thank you so much for this post! All this time (7 years) I have thought I was alone on this, especially the butt growling which is so hard to explain. The exact same thing happened to me in 8th grade and it was hard because it happened to me EVERY DAY! At first I thought the stomach and butt noises weren't as loud as I thought until I saw people staring at me. In high school some classmates made fart noises every time I walked by or in class and I pretended like I didn't hear or see them. However, I would cry when I got home and hated that my family didn't understand what I was going through. I hated quiet places, especially during exams. I did notice the noises got worse when I was stressed so during exams I was stressed that my stomach and butt were making noises, which made the growling louder, which increased my stress and it was just a downward spiral. In order to deal with it, I just pretended like it was no big deal and blamed it on "my hunger". I was positive, forced myself to come out of my shell, and developed a good sense of humor so people began ignoring the sounds and I didn't get those weird looks anymore. Now I am going to be a senior in college and it has definitely gotten better! I have learned how to manage my stress better, I try to eat healthy and exercise, I stay positive and surround myself with awesome people. Don't let this ruin your life and keep you from grasping great opportunities. Know that you are definitely not alone!

I don't know what's your name, but I'm facing the same problem too. I know how you feel. It feels like your intestine is going to burst out. You might have a digestive problem with gluten or lactose. Try not to eat those. If you feel better without eating gluten, then you have gluten sensitivity. If you feel better without lactose, then you are lactose and talorent. Do not starve yourself, because if you do, te pain will start getting worse. Don't overeat a lot. That's my advice. Your story was sad and interesting. I hope this helps.
