Sounds like a broken record, but... boy am I glad to have found this forum. Like most ladies here I recently had a baby so I feel confident in knowing what baby movements feel like. Seven months after birth I started to get these rumbling movements going across the stomach, also accompanied by a "heartbeat" which I could feel by palpating my lower torso. I don't have very much loose skin but I wouldn't disagree that this could be why I'm feeling intestinal movement. Before pregnancy I would sometimes feel bloated and clothes wouldn't fit too well, but this time around I looked like I was well into my fourth or fifth month! There hadn't been any period before hand, but the constant "dragging" feeling we sometimes call mild cramps that come before AF. Still no period, but the feeling of kicks and rumbles remains. I also took two pregnancy test; both negative. I haven't been able to get any useful medical advice. Does anyone have thoughts on this being what they call a "phantom pregnancy"? I hope someone here has more certain feedback for us soon.
I have literally been climbing the walls wondering what this could be. Common sense tells me I can't be pregnant too! I've taken tests over the past few months-all negative and have had what seems like my regular period, like clockwork. I also feel kind of dumb going to the dr. But I also don't want to be one of those women you hear about to give birth and didn't clue in that she was pregnant either I have 3 kids and I have NEVER felt "gas" like this. It's gotten stronger and more regular in the past 2 weeks and now I'm preoccupied and making myself crazy. The silliest part is that because I have had 3 kids, I can say I don't have a single pregnancy symptom other than what feels like kicks. I can also see the movement now. Did anyone get any results? I'm tempted to just go to the dr. and see if I can get some blood tests done. I had an ultrasound 6 mos ago due to an enlarged uterus (dr. spotted it at pap appt.-I had no clue). I'm only 115 lbs (usually...think I've put on 5-6 lbs..everything is tight). Hopefully it's just gas, but common sense is telling me to go to the dr. This isn't right. I'm glad I'm not alone here, but sorry this didn't really help anyone!
I, too, have experienced the baby poking/kicking sensation. I am 42, have had 3 children, the youngest is 6 and was delivered via a C-section and at the same time my tubes were tied. Within the last 2 mos. I have had the sensation of a baby moving around, poking, etc. around the left side of my belly button. Not painful, just frequent and odd. I did go to the doctor, had a pelvic ultrasound, etc. and all was found to be normal, though my uterus was stated as being large. But basically a clean bill of health and definitely NOT pregnant. Perhaps a GI doctor is the next step? Concerned... I see that I am not the only one to experience this sensation, however, wondering if there are any answers as of yet?
I have never been pregnant, but because I have been trying for 2 years, I was beginning to think I was becoming a bit obsessed and had developed a phantom pregnancy. For well over six months I have been feeling movement, expecially when I lie or sit down. I am uncomfortable, as if there is something in my tummy. I can also clearly see and feel a pulse. I have taken numerous pregnancy tests, ann have regular periods, so I am not pregnant. I also went to the Dr as I began to think there was something wrong with my abdominal aorta. All blood tests came back negative and she was not concerned. The only other suggestion I picked up from the web is that it could be paracites. To be honest, if it is, they would have to be really big and I don't really want to consider it. PLEASE PLEASE if anyone has been given clarification on this can you respond as I am turing into a crazy lady.
I am so glad I found someone talking about this! I have a 2 yr old and an 8 month old so I know what a baby feels like... this feels like a baby! I am still nursing my 8 month old several times a day and my period hasn't returned. I would just assume I'm pregnant but I've had absolutely no other sypmtoms other than the distinct wiggling and kicking sensations of a baby. I was severely sick with my first 2 pregnancies and haven't been the slightest bit nauseaus recently. What is this movement?? Anyone? Anyone?
Me too. Not pregnant, but have had 2 kids, both C-sections, and this feels like the foetal movements I experienced in pregnancy on right side of abdomen. GP thinks I had a missed pregnancy last month, period was later this month but came and was normal. Have done two tests, both negative. No other symptoms and I displayed usual symptoms in other 2 pregnancies, but this strange movement has been happening for 3 days now. Did anyone else get an explanation from doctor? Thanks
I can assure you that because of my age, I am not pregnant. For the past 6 years I have complained to doctors about my GI problems, including what feels like a baby kicking, tummy movements, and rumblings. A boyfriend once laughed and said he thought I had a monster from outer space in my stomach!! It isn't funny, because it's very painful, and like all the others who have written in about this, I am so bloated and uncomfortable by afternoon, that I look 4 months pregnant. The movements and the kicking is most likey bubbles of trapped gas, as least that's what I've been told by my doctors. There seems to not be much concern from them about this dilemma. I have an ongoing monthly appointment with my primary doctor, have seen 3 GI doctors, an IBS specialist, a Chinese doctor, and an IBS specialist in hypnosis, with little relief. There are no answers it seems as I've been tested negative for everything. I guess since I'm still alive and "kicking", it's not life treatening, but it sure makes normal life difficult. I'm an advid exerciser, a competitive runner, at least I used to be, but it's hard to run hard when this occurs daily. I've read every book and website on the subject. I've been told I have post-infectious IBS (from a parasite infection in 2001), slow gut motility, consitipation, and intestinal yeast (candida). I am now taking antifungals and having weekly acupuncture, but so far not much is happening. I wish I had answers, but if anyone has tried to solve this problem, it's me. I sure hope you all don't live with this for years like I have!!
It is good to know that I am not alone. I am 26 and I have a 7 year old. I been having the same sensations after I had my son. I finally went and got checked and was told that it was bowels moving throughout my intestines. It was a weird feeling. I was praying that it wasnt any kind of tumor.
I have had this very painful cramping like a charlie horse in the calf like pain in the left side of my abdomin. The same muscle in every situation. I could be lying and maybe cough, or move a particular way, or bend over or I just dont know when I will have this crazy painful rolling muscle feeling. I can lay flat or stand straight and and this pain will dissappear with in 10-15 sec. I can lay flat and see this muscle move until it fades away. Any one have a answer. I work at a hospital and a RN told me it sounds like a hernia or maybe adhesions. May be I should have this checked out. I too had a c-sec 21 months ago with twins. They were quite large in in size one was 6lbs and the other 6lbs9 oz. My uterus measured 50 the day before I had an emerengcy c-sec. Also I have had a history of irritable bowel syndrom. with a colon/intestional resection about 14 years ago due to having a big baby at 10lbs. 12 oz 22 in baby. this was too much on my body frame.
I am a 24 year old woman with a 2 1/2 year old daughter. A few months after giving birth I started noticing lower abdominal pain, general abdominal bloating, and sometimes a strange "movement" inside my belly, like an object was just rolling around in there. The most prominent symptom for me is the pain, which can be severe.
I have received many tests: blood work, urinalysis, pelvic trans-vaginal ultrasound, physical exams by doctors, pelvic exams, upper endoscopy, upper and mid ultrasound, etc. The only finding was gastritis (stomach).
I am going in a few days for a colonoscopy. Maybe I'll learn something(?)
If so, I'll let everyone know.
Also, if nothing is found in the colonoscopy, I might go through with laparascopic surgery to really see what's in there. Hopefully it wont come to that.

I think it is so wild to find this website!! I have a similar abdominal pain. I have 2 children and the youngest was delivered via C-section (a common thread I've noticed amongst the ladies who posted here) I know for a fact this isn't "gas" I tried to explain the sensation to my hubby. It doesn't happen all of the time, but often if I have my left leg propped up for any reason. If I try to sit up or bend down It feels like one of my organs has gotten tangled up somewhere between my belly button and hip bone! If I keep trying to sit or stand it wont go away and is quite painful, but if I lay back slow and relax I'll feel a flip or two just like when you are about 7 months pregnant and your bady rolls and flips. Then for a hour or so afterwords I feel this kicking and bouncing! It can't possibly be gas! Holly Geez if that's gas! I also have periods that sometimes skip a month or two. I am overweight so I know if I go to the doctor they'll just tell me my period is off because of my weight *ugh* I have no clue what this pain is, but I am glad I am not as crazy as I was starting to think I was! As other women have mentioned, who wants to be the crazy lady that shows up the E.R. thinking she has a burst appendix and turns out to be 9 months pregnant?? Haha.
I am 44 have had 3 children and a hysterectomy 11 yrs ago. i started have this "baby kicking" even "baby hiccup" sensations about 2 yrs ago...I am a nurse now and the only thing I can think of is the more gassy foods or fiber i eat to keep me regular, then i end up with intestinal "spasms". Thats what i have determined it is. Mine can be on my right or left and sometimes if I press my hand into my abdomen it moves. I haven't figured out a cure, because it seems all foods give me gas and bloating feeling..could be caused from scar tissue pressing on my intestinal nerves since i had 3 c-sections. Not sure, i've used a heating pad across my abdomen and that calms it. The sensations aren't painful, just annoying. A GI doctor may prescribe IBS medication to calm the bowel, If anyone has an appt. with one let us know what he says. Hope this helps.
I had pains in my lower-right abdomen somewhat similar to what some people here are describing. It turned out to be my psiatic nerve, which apparently gets overly sensitive sometimes.
I, too, have had these pains. For me, it is to the right of my belly button, about 2-3 inches away. It happens when I am lying on the floor and try to lean up, kind of like doing a sit up, or sometimes when I am sitting in a chair and lean forward. I, too, have had a c-section and started having these pains a few months after having my child. I have complained to my primary care doctor. She determined it was due to weak muscles in the area following pregnancy. I talked with a friend who is a physical therapist. She recommended I see a physicial therapist specializing in women's issues. I did that and what I've been told is that I have excess scar tissue from my c-section and apparently, I have issues with the fascia (the tissue between your skin and your muscles) and she recommended some scar massage to work out the fascia. My primary care doctor had said "just do pilates," but the physical therapist said that you have to work on the fascia issue first and after that gets worked out, then work on muscle toning. The thing is, I am not completely convinced this is what is wrong, since it really feels like one of my organs is out of line. I haven't seen a GI specialist, that might be the next step. Very frustrating.

I also have fibroids and a cyst on my left ovary so just so many things going on and so many doctors i have seen and they have not yet to find any diagnosis except making me feel like its all in my head and I'm crazy>>
