hey guys my advice start some kinda massage therapy and go see a physiotherapist! I'm finding that this is what is helping my pain the most, and helping actually relive it. I've also been doing some basic massage techniques at home (behind ears, sinuses) and it helps move everything (like drain ? I dunno). basically my research has told me it's built up muscle tension. really really really bad muscle tension if you let it get worse

Like everyone, I stumbled upon here because this is just happening to me.. Has anything been figured out.. If not, can we House it and compare our lifestyles? I drink mostly Mt Dew, take Adderall and after i hurt my back, Vicodin. I sing a lot, at least an hourish a day. Smoke about a pack a day, sleep on the opposite side of my pain.. Anyone who can compare anything with me?

Left side of mid neck, dull ache, sometimes travels up head behind ear and down near clavicle. I don't see or feel any unusual lumps. Xrays showed nothing wrong. Had this for about 4 weeks now. The unusual thing is the ache went away when i had a bout of a cold but returned when cold diminished after 4 days. I was thinking it was related to stress/grief as i am losing family home or the loss of my mother a few months ago. Frustrating to have this ache and no explanation or cure for it.

I drink mostly Pepsi and smoke about the same. Also sleep on the opposing side of pain. This is all driving me crazy.

I have had this problem for some time but when it happens to me my tongue throbs as well and it is as if there is pressure pushing up from my stomach. When I swallow it is very sore and feels as though there is a lump in my throat and a very sore spot as the swallow continues down into my stomach. It is very painful and I have been told several things like: stomach acid and saliva glands. I have had antibiotics which has not worked. Sometimes I feel like I am choking but the xray shows nothing.

I've had all the same symptoms except mine is on the right side, even own to the clavicle pain and occasional twinge in my testicle. It all started when I started a new job and sit at a desk 8-9 hours a day at which time I also developed an ulcer. I think its stress along with posture issues, I've noticed when I stretch out my neck it relieves the pain. I've had all the tests as well and nothing has been conclusive.

Hello Every one,

I had the same experience , pain deep in the neck not inside that i had to push with my finger to find it. Over a year back I saw a therapist because of anxiety and an old depression, he prescribed me pills which after about a week the pain in neck vanished ! 2 -3 times happened that I couldn't get my prescription and i was out of my medicine , the pain in the neck was back ! starting medication , no pain again..

so I wanted to ask if any one of you suffer from anxiety or depression , then this could be the reason.

Apology if my grammar has problem, I'm not a native speaker .

Good Luck

I have hyperthyroidism and I do experience this type of pain very often - in the front of my neck, under the jaw. It hurts the most when I am stressed out. I was looking for the explanation and glad I found this website - I did not think it comes from the thyroid gland, but after I read these post, I think this is an explanation. I am going to do the blood work work thyroid hormone to see if it is within the normal range.

I have a gland on my lt. Side of neck it feel like it is rt. on top of carotid it's deep. It's not big the size of my tip of index finger. It's starts to bother me when I sneeze or when I am just run down. It hurts pretty bad like a tooth ache. Like when I sniff it pulls and is painful. It will stay with me for a little bit. Then just go away. Feels good when I put warm Epson salt on a towel put around my neck

Literally just started experiencing this within the past month. I went to see my PCP and felt around and thought my glands were swollen due to sinus infection. It is more. I can tell. I have all the same symptoms in the same area (except the male that commented about his testicles) :) I hope someone figures out the cause soon. Not comfy.

I have some ideas on what this may be, I have the same sudden pain located: place thumb right under the left ear following the left jaw line, and tucked up and under the jaw bone it hurts whether touching or not, but more when touching. 1. The environment here has been 105 degrees and windy with rain off and on this week; 2. Swam in the pool, but not under water. 3. Pulling up old carpeting to replace with new wood floors. 4. On Levothyroxine 50mcg daily for thyroid 5. Drink way too much caffeine all day. 6. Ate my dinner (chicken/asparagus) really quickly and hence what I think this is feeling like is slightly like a gas pain in my neck. I looked it up kinda worried heart attack, but so many here never said that, but thought maybe a little angina. I am icing my upper back, because ice on my neck was too cold. I am taking 2 antacids right now to see if I get some relief. I will wait to publish for 5 minutes to see if I get any relief. No matter what though, I will for sure take a Tylenol PM and see if that's not a life safer. Good luck to all of you and please post if anyone finds a for sure answer. Been 7 minutes, and some relief actually. Burped once. Still tender, but a little better.

And I forgot to add: pain down the entire left lymph-node to the collar bone, and no, I don't have a sore throat. Please all share your situation like I did and maybe we can find some similarities by posting them.

This is exactly what I am experiencing. It seems to get worse throughout the day. By neck feels tired. Thats the best way to describe it. Nothing feels overly swollen but there is a pressure and tired feeling. Also, only at night, my ears hurt and feel like the inside is very very hot.
