I am 49 years old soon to be 50 in March of 2011. I had an Nova Sure ablation 3yrs ago because of heavy bleeding. I was having a cycle every 17 days. I was in hormon hell. My ob said I was more than likely going through the change and I could wait it out or have the ablation. Obviously I opted for the ablation. I have not had a period since prior to the procedure three years ago. Not a single drop. Just recently I have been put on hormones for terrible hot flashes. I would like to inquire if anyone has ever had the endometrial lining grow back from using hormones? I was told by the ob that intially I couldnt take them post surgery for just that reason, that the lining could grow back. Since I have a boyfriend I am of course worried if I should be more careful with birth control. I was never advised to have my tubes tied again probably because of my age and symptoms. But again, stranger things have happend lol!!!

As with most of you I had my tubes tied after my 3rd surprise child. I was married but had gone through years of endometriosis and 3 surgeries. My doctor told me we'd probably have to use fertility drugs just to have a child. To my surprise I became pregnant immediately after foing off the pill. My second child I was using the Nuva Ring and got pregnant (11 mos after my first was born), and my 3rd child I was using the patch. I was 28 yrs old and had 3 children under the age of 4. We felt our family was complete and didn't know how to control the pregnancies since using birth control and watching the calendar was obviously not working.

At age 30 my periods had become so heavy and painful again my options were ablation or hysterectomy. The thought threw me into immediate depression. I chose the ablation, which was immensely painful. My doctor only told me that I wouldn't be able to have anymore children and I was fine with that. When she finished the procedure she said "I think we got it all". I didn't think much of it at the time but now divorced and engaged to a man who has one child of his own we have looked at the different ways that we could have a family together. I never thought about even being able to get pregnant until recently symptoms of started showing up.

I have not had a period since April of 2009 and just assumed that preganacy was not even possible. I definately am not trying to get pregnant on purpose but if I am I will be the most thinkful person in the world. We've been looking at surrogacy but that's very out of our price range. I don't think that I would be able to terminate if I am pregnant. If I am part of the 0.7% that concieve post ablation I count myself as blessed, not cursed, and handicapped or not, every living thing deserves a chance to live.

I have had an Endometrial Ablation done January,2010 I haven't had a period since.
I am so happy as I had a rough time pre and post pregnancy...due to multiple Fibroids.
I do have the watery discharge but its better than cramps and heavy bleeding.
I am very greatful to the doctors and midwives and also for my miracle baby....from a 11 year marriage. He's now 2yrs.
Hope the web site helps....

I had a TR in August of 2007 in Mexico with Dr Perez! I also just found out my RE now does them. There are several Drs that do TR's! Do your research. Find out their success rates.

You can find me on FB - BlessedMommy. Most of my friends are Post-TR Mommies!

Sorry to hijack the thread. Now on to the OP.

I have a friend who has asked me to be his Surro but I still have monthly visitor for 3-4 days. Heavy, cramping, clotting. He's offered to pay for my u/s to find out how thick my lining is. And with Prog and Estrogen, we can thicken my lining. I have been through 2 rounds of IVF so I know all about the infertility meds.

I HAD THE ABLASION TWO YEARS AGO AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PERIOD. MY GYN SAID THE FEMALE BODY DOESN'T HAVE TO HAVE A PERIOD, THAT SIMPLY ALLOWS THE BODY A WAY OF FLUSHING ITSELF OUT, IF NO PREGNANCY OCCURRED. I WOULD SAY, GET YOUR BLOOD TEST, BETTER SAFE AND TO KNOW.

To the last message posted....I am in the exact same boat. I am four years off a divorce from a very abusive husband. I had my tubes tied, and had the procedure done. I am now in a loving relationship with a man who has no children who desires one. I would love to have another one, but look at what is ahead of me...Have there been any progress for you?

I had the procedure done in November of 2009 and at that time did not want anymore children. My husband had a vasectomy so I did not have my tubes tied with this procedure. Since then my marriage has gone to hell and now I am pregnant with another mans baby. I still had a light period after the procedure. I found out that I was pregnant because I had symptoms but not till I was about 9 weeks. I took a home pregnancy test one day and called the doctor the next. I didn't know how far along I was so the doctor did a blood test and then when those results came back he did an ultrasound and found that I was 11 weeks and 2 days a long. I now see a specialist as well as my regular OB. I am now 22 weeks and doing fine. I am at the start of Placenta Previa and am looking at having a c-section. Even though I am looking forward to my son being born, I was not trying to get pregnant. So far the pregnancy is going good and now I just hope that it continues to do so. BTW I am due on June 6, 2011.

I am 46 and had the novasure procedure about a year ago. I have had no bleeding at all since the procedure. My question is can I get pregnant? The doctor who did the procedure said I didn't need to worry due to my age and getting the procedure, but now after seeing all of these posts? I am curious to those that did get pregnant, had all of you continued or started having periods? It makes me wonder if the procedure took. I would think if I have had the layers of my lining removed, how would the egg attach itself to the wall? And as previously asked, if you have no period, how would you know if you were pregnant?

Have been researching on being able to get pregnant after an ablasion...I am quite disturbed that there are so many who judge the woman who have had the procedure and later decide they would like more children....Everyones story is different and circumstances are always different, that doesnt mean that we were neglectful in our thought process while making the decision to have the procedure done. I have always had what I can female issues, endometriosis and such, I was able to have two beautiful daughters and when they were 6 and 4 I had the procedure done, it was a decision made with my husband and doctor based on all the pain i had delt with every single month since I was at the age of starting a menstrual cycle. Well then life changes......my husband of 7yrs passed away suddenly at the age of 29 leaving me at the young age of 28...Four years later I re-married, I would love to have a child with him as he is raising my daughters as his own yet does not share a biological child with me....and no its not about saving a relationship he is fine either way but me personally would like to move forward with my life and create a new life and that also includes having a child with my current husband. I am constantly reminded of what I have lost along with what my daughters have lost. Every day we thank the Lord for what we till have but also know we are not, nor will we ever be "the normal" family. The man raising them now is by all rights their father figure but to be able to tie us all together would be a blessing beyond words....Before you judge, put yourself in someone elses shoes:)
