Thank you so much for posting. A friend is experiencing this for the first time (second episode) and we are holistic as well.
I gave him a large dose of flush-free niacinamade and his symptoms drastically improved. I was convinced it was stress related from the start.
He is 48 years old and in otherwise perfect health. Testing his Ph I noticed that it was slightly acidic so we are double timing to get that back to about 7.5
Thank you again for posting. Yours is the first post that truly sheds some light on this.

I have had the same thing happened to me since 2007. Right now, the top of my left eye is swollen, it is very uncomfortable. I've been having this flare ups for a whole month non-stop right now and they don't seem to be going away.... no one can find out what it is....

All those systoms sound exactly what has been happening to my son (9yrs old). I thought its was motrian but he's still having the symtoms. They come and go. I keep thinking maybe something he ate but he is a picky eater so he never trys anything new. It worries me and I don't know what to do. I give him benedryl when it happens.

I've been having something similar to you guys problem and I have no clue how to make it just stop. I moved to Iowa in February and for the last 6 months I've had swollen lips on and off and random flares all over and my doctor jus recently told me that I have angioderma, but that doesn't really tell me or you much. Hope this could help.

I've had the "unexplained swelling" now for 3 years and looks like mine is linked to Lyme disease

I just started having these random swellings and itchings bout a most nyh ago. I haven't had an episode for the past week and right now this morning one side of my tongue is swollen, I feel an itchy lump under each foot and at the heel of my right hand.
After reading a lot of these posts I see noone knows the reason or solution. I have found that staying really hydrated with water seemed to prevent any outbreak over the past week. Yesterday I barely drank any water and drank coffee and tea. I have found that hydrating during an episode seems to shorten the time it lasts.
Has anyone else tried this?

Then why does benadryl, or any other allergy meds for that reason not work?

I have had this going on since 2004 and have lived in 4 different places since and nothing has changed.

So....I am not giving ANY medical advice, but I'm curious to find out if anyone else has the same experience. I have all of the same issues stated in previous posts. If it's really bad (lip or eye) I'll take a sudafed and it's gone in about 2 hours. I found this out by accident from having sinus pressure at the same time one day. Im just interested in finding out if anyone else has the same reaction. It could help better explain the cause.

I have recently read several articles about histamine intolerance in which these symptoms seem to match. I have also experienced swollen hands, feet, and lips for years with no diagnosis. Since histamine rich foods such as shellfish , spinach, and tomatoes are typically on my plate daily it could explain why I never related these "healthy" items to the swelling.

Look into discussing anti oedema with your physician, I had disabling episodes of the symptoms many have described that also came with pain in my teens. It went away during my 20's and 30's and now have occasional episodes in my 40's. I have had two episodes this week. I take 24 hour Claritan to relieve the symptoms and discomfort but plan to follow up with my physician again.

I'm so glad I found these posts! I've had the same strange itching and swelling on my lip, feet, and wrists. The first instance was in college. I've had it happen several times since then. It's usually only one area at a time but I have have up to three different areas at once, all on my limbs. I'm married now, have two children. Always lived in NC. Got tested for allergies in middle/high school due to an unexplained cough and fever reoccurring monthly. Eventually it stopped. I'm also currently sick with some sort of respitory junk and this most recent swelling started the night before last with itching and has moved onto swelling and slight pain at the touch. It is spreading further wider and in both directions up onto my palm and up my arm toward my elbow. Not dramatically, but still swelling instead of reducing as I had hoped it would overnight. I saw someone post waaaay back in the comments that after a lot of tests her dr told her it was stress induced internal hives. That sounds very likes for me because in obviously stressful times I've gotten normal external hives and have somewhat sensitive skin. I wish we could definitively get a diagnosis and understand triggers for whatever is causing these outbreaks.
