Hi, i started taking lisinopril a few months a go. I started getting the swolen lip about a month ago.... i will go to my doc and see if its the cause.
I started experiencing the same about 4 years ago. Extreme lip swelling- usually on one side. Tips of fingers, thumbs... back of knee... buttocks area. By process of elimination, I believe I have an allergy to some type of additive in plastic (elastic). I don't drink out of water bottles anymore. I turn my underwear inside out so the elastic doesn't come in contact with my skin. I carry metal forks, and straws in my purse at all times. My husband opens any plastic packages for me. I think this helps some but EVERYTHING in life is plastic, so I still swell from time to time. Maybe you could try this.
Okay so after finding this I feel better to know that I’m not the only person with this weird sh*t!
So im 20 years old. Three weeks ago i went to the doctor for an EKG & a cough. They told me i had strep & gave me an antibiotic. The next day I woke up looking like a backyardigan. Everything on my face & my tongue was swollen. And my hands and feet. Went to the ER & they said it was allergies. So boom three days later the same happened to my hands only. then a week later my lips blew up again randomly. And now a week later i just got up to find that my feet are too swollen to walk on. It always itches before so I know when it will happen. HAE is the closest thing I have been able to find but it says that with HAE you wont have any itching. I know that I’m also ADHD & Bipolar-Depressed, idk if mental illness has a play in it or not but it might! Lets figure out wtf this is

This might be lengthy but hang with me on this and hopefully it will help many if not all with this malady. Just like all of you, about a year ago I started having the swelling spells. Same huge duck lips all the way down to the ketchup packet feeling on the bottoms of my feet. Wrists, fingers, etc, etc. I had the same thing I read here. I was so disheartened to discover that while many had this.....they had no good medical explanation of what was causing it. I cut our red wine, diet drinks, mixed nuts and many other things that I loved but gladly surrendered to get on top of the swelling spells. No luck. It just kept occurring when I least expected it. I began to fear it happening at the wrong time socially. Some personal background: I just turned 60 yrs old. Always healthy but played high school and college football so certainly many aches and pains from time to time. Grew up on Tylenol but in last few years switched to Motrin and more recently Alieve for little discomfort spells. Also during this period I went to spine Dr. for disk problem and he gave me a magnum qty of 800 milligram generic Motrin for pain spells. I tried not to take these often as I am just really against taking anything. I was raised from the time I can remember or to take pain meds. The reason ( and this is important) is because my father was “deathly” allergic to aspirin. I of course never witnessed his problem as he never allowed aspirin into our home and he trusted nothing for pain. My mother always told us that he would experience extreme swelling (knots) on his face and looked like a monster. I’ve remembered that all my life and was told by Dr as I got older that Tylenol contained no aspirin and would be safe to take. And it was. Fast forward to about two months ago and I’m beginning to swell in the face. I’ve, as I stated earlier, monitored my food and drink trying to connect dots. I’ve got some lower back pain so I grab for the large bottle of regular Alieve and something hit me about my dad’s aspirin allergy. I grabbed the bottle and read the warning.....Naproxen sodium may cause a severe allergic reaction, especially in people allergic to aspirin. Systems can be hives, facial swelling, red skin, etc, etc. I immediately grabbed the Motrin bottle and read Ibuprofen May cause a severe allergic reaction, especially in people allergic to aspirin. Long story (sorry) short....it’s been about two months since I cut out Alieve and Motrin for Tylenol and have had nothing even close to the itching swelling outbreak of knots on any part of my body. Am proclaiming myself cured. I have reclaimed all of the things I had cut out before. I really hope this helps some of you find the answer to your outbreaks too. Not sure I have anything else to offer but would be glad to discuss if it would help. Good luck!!
Hello my daughter just started the same thing.want to see a rheumatologist.an he really don't know what's wrong he tryed to say it was lupus an i refuess to expect it.an when the other doctor came in who is over that doctor said they can't say its lupus.because they ate not sure.but one thing i know that helps my child is prayer.even tho i know what ever it is it a lot of stress sounds like..but am going to continue praying for each an every one .that i have read on this thing that is attacking your bodies in such a way.god bless you all....an stay well.
Check for allergy to aspirin or other drug she might be taking to cause this reaction. Mine is no doubt an aspirin reaction and has not reoccurred since stopping over the counter pain meds containing aspirin. Good luck!
I having these flare ups for 4 years lips, fingers, feet been to allergist changes medication nothing helps. Glad it's sporadic. Still searching for a cure.
I started having foot swelling in November 2017, went to family Dr she did XRays and decided it was plantar fasciitis. After a few more flare ups I turned to a podiatrist. He diagnosed me with an Achilles sprain, a small tumor and no plantar fasciitis, injected the tumor and ordered orthotics. In January after a room painting project I woke to major hand swelling. Ever since I have random swelling in fingers, feet (still), wrist, back of hands and an episode on my lip which I went to the ER for. I have seen an allergist immunologist who gave me a RX for Prednisone for severe swelling and antibiotics in case it was infection. Still no luck. I am due to go in for allergy testing next week. I am super hesitant as this is getting very expensive. Has anyone gotten answers via a scratch test?
Thank you! Your story is more helpful than anything I've heard from a line of physicians. Prayfully, this current episode will cease soon. I will stop using NSAID products for pain management... now questioning the preservatives used... and see if that helps me as well.
Did you ever find out what was causing this?My husband has the exact problems.
I have the same symptoms,,,hands, feet, mouth, tongue, wrists, genital area. Actually my wife looked it up and yes there is a name or this condition. Sorry I forgot what it is but I will look it up again. Bottom line is no one knows the cause but it is not fatal or anything (be careful with the tongue swelling though). take allergy meds and have a EPI Pin handy in case the mouth or tongue obstruct breathing
yes, my son has the same issues , lip swollen, one side of face and lower wrist/arm every other month and it seems to be getting worst. Doctor said it was enviormental, not food but something like dust, mold, flowers, fresh cut grass that he is breathing in....he is highly allergic too. So he just needs to take Reactive to keep it under control but very Scary!!!
I have been struggling with the same issue. I see a doctor at UC San Diego at the Hereditary Angioedema clinic. What you are experiencing is edema. You need to see someone who specializes in this. Sometimes it's food allergies, it can be genetic,...
Im having similar issue's as well my feet are swelling with itching ,pain and it feels like im walking on ketchup packets. my tongue and face swell with numbness ive never been allergic to anything and it sucks please someone help us
I have had this same thing happen to me--my bottom lip suddenly felt tingly and started swelling! My palms were itching and wrists too. My wrists look like there might be some kind of hives. This happened to me YEARS ago a few times and now - suddenly- happened again. I looked it up--antihistamine is probably best option. Acute Angioedema is the only explanation I found....so weird! The symptoms make me think it's systemic....just have NO idea...
