I could not agree more! I had a CT Scan to try and diagnose the swelling, soreness, stinging - BEFORE a friend sent this steadyhealth.com link. I wish I'd seen this earlier!

Did the swelling ever go down? I had an incisional abdominal hernia surgery almost 6 weeks ago and still have the bump coming out every time I raise up. The Doctor drained almost 1 litre after the first two weeks and then another 90 cc but then I have still a bumpy are and this horrible bump every time I stand up.

A little late but I had the same surgery with the mesh. It is the worse decision I made. I now have a lump as big as the mesh and it bulges out where you can see it under my clothes. After trying to get a straight answer from surgeons and having a cat scan, I found out it is scar tissue. So, now the only fix would be another worse operation than the first. The first operation took 30 days to feel better. I think the mesh is the main problem. I know they had a big recall on certain meshes used in early 2000's. The problem included sca tissue and the ring popping open and cutting into your intestines. A few patients died

Did you ever get an answer? My husband is going through the same exact thing as you and I am worried. I am thinking I should take him to the ER. Help? Thank you. I hope you are feeling better.

Thanks for posting this, you've described exactly as I have. It's so hard to know wether to continue with normal activities or if you need complete bed rest for it to heal?! Ive been scared it's never going to go!
This is really reassuring and makes sense that gentle movement would help it soften. thanks x

I had incisional/umbilicus hernia repair 5 weeks ago and I did have a little lump. Dr said it was fluid and ice it and it will go away which it did. I am have some discomfort, burning stinging to the right of where the mesh was placed and I just iced that and it helped.

Hello I had 3 hernias that were contorting my intestines on the 30th of June. The sharp stabbing pains are the nerves waking up. If it is unbearable like it was for me I called the doctor and prescribed me Gabapentin 300MG. This pill calms the nerves down so you don't feel all that stabbing pain so much

Did he ever recover?
I had umbilical hernia surger april 17, it is now August and my abdomen sweels up ever day, hurts under my ribcage too. I am back on Advils ALL day- otherwise I can't function.
The dr had me do a CT scan- all normal he said except a lesion on liver. Then had MRI- lesion was benign and small, everything looked good he said.
But, now I don't know what to do as I am always in pain. My only workout is walking every day. I used to run daily- no more- too painful. My original hernia pain was nothing compared to the pains I have had since surgery. Wish I NEVER had the surgery. Hope it won't be like this for the rest of my life! It limits my life severely:(

Thank you for this post. I am scheduled for surgery in October and was beginning to think that perhaps I would skip the surgery and see how long I can live with the way things are.
