I have had that problem, on and off, for the bigger part of my life. As far as I know, most common cause of peeling skin is lack of vitamins. So I'd suggest you increase your vitamin intake, focus mostly on vitamins B and C and your skin should stop peeling. If this doesn't help, you should see a dermatologist.

I have the exact same problem ,but mine only started after all the signs of hand foot and mouth have disappeared. I've had painless blisters on my hands for three years, they seem to get worse on contact with water. I've looked everywhere for answers and this is a last resort . feel lost with no answers. :(

I have the same problem bruising & peeling fingertips. It can be much more serious then hard work. I work a ranch & never had this problem after putting in an orchard w/ a shovel. So my work now is lighter. I researched & if it continues it is likely systemic causes can include: immune system problems, infection, malnutrition & rarely cancer. I'm all about natural & grow & eat organic & all that but this isn't a problem that would be fixed w/ steroids & may require more than a natural cure. If u are bruising more also that starts to look nutritional. But this can be an indication of something serious that can b fixed. Good luck.

In my cue, it started with a red rash all over my torso and legs and upper arms. It looked exactly like what we used to call, "Red Measles," to distinguish it from German Measles (the kind so dangerous to preBorn babies) and Roseola. The dermatologist called it a reaction to an antibiotic, and gave me various creams, which did absolutely nothing. The peeling occurred four or five times on my entire palms and fingers, the entire skin peeling off so that I had to wear cotton gloves if I went to Holy Mass or anywhere else I was not too exhausted to go. Once the hands stopped peeling, or rather, slowed down, the peeling extended to my feet, which also peeled along the entire plantar (bottom) surface. The whole episode took about a month and a half to two months, and was never painful or itching, merely what's called "desquamation." Incidentally, desquamation is listed as a syndrome occurring along with Red Measles, which the doctors insisted it was not. Go figure.

I got pneumonia in 2003 and since have had multiple bouts of bronchitis. Each time I have to take antibiotics and my fingers start hurting them the skin dies on the end and peels off. I have bronchitis again and within a few hours of starting the antibiotics my finger tips started hurting again and I expect the skin to get hard, die, and start peeling. I assume it is sugar or yeast related. I would love to know what is going on.

hey . I had the skin splitting on the sides of my fingers for the last 7 years or so . I tried Urea based creams for some small relief but the solution which works for me is to take many spoonfuls of Lecithin daily. [non GMO lecithin] . I have also been taking coconut oil but it appears that it is the lecithin which solved whatever deficiency was causing these skin splits. They have totally disappeared. If I let the Lecithin dose get smaller they come back gradually. So try Lecithin and keep taking it until they heal and see if they come back when you keep taking Lecithin !

This is what happens to me! Always after a cold or flu, the palms of my hands a red and tender (just slightly) and then that whole area of skin will peel off. I can't seem to find any explanation.

Same symptoms as me, no cure out there or definition of what it is. You are not alone. For me getting upset does it, washing dishes/dish washing soap, wearing rubber gloves, being on hot water too long, using soap, and I'm trying to figure out what food triggers it, I think it might be sugar, or sugary drinks of som sort. I've tried soaking my hands in lemon juice, tea tree oil, all types of hand creams, the steroid crimes doctors prescribe don't do anything. It goes by cycles... So all u can do is just wait.... All of a sudden for no apparent reason the skin texture changes... You stop peeling, and the skin becomes more elasticity, feels great like normal skin. This period could vary from a week to 2 months and then the nasty cycle starts again... Help!!!

I have had this for over 4 yrs. Went to the Dr's many time and they gave me ointments and creams which did very little. I were non latex gloves with udder cream at night which helps but during the day my hand dry out and crack. I put liquid bandage on the cracks which help keep things out. About 3 months ago I tore my rotater cuff and my ortho gave a a cortisone shot. Low and behold 2 days later my hands were much better. By day 6 my hands looked normal. By day 14 it started again and here I am 3 months later back to the same thing. So it must be autoimmune and the cortisone suppressed it. I have ask my GP for a small dose of prednisone which she is not in favor of me starting. Trying to get her to do it! Little background I have had hyper then hypo thyroid issues for 25 yrs and have hives for over 10 yrs. Hope this helps
