My Partner also had the same symptoms which went on for around 4 months. After having a precautionary test (endoscopy) he was diagnosed with a 7cm cancer in his esohpagus which had also spread to his liver, lymph nodes and possibly his lung. He is now going through Radiation and Chemotherapy. If I were you, I would request a test, just to be on the safe side. (You just never know)!

I bet you all smoke?

I have excessive burping that has eventually causes chest and throat pains. I dont smoke.
I thought i might add that even though it feels like my throat and chest is the biggest problem right now and my stomach only gets slight pain, for me it is still highly likely to be stomach related.

the consistent belching has probably inflamed my throat giving me the tight feeling especially when i get the gas/air build up again. This feeling in the throat can get painful and is no joke as others have stated, but i think if you have come up clean for any problems in the esophagus and you still get the tight build up it may be worth checking out a gastro specialist and getting some tests for infection or ulcers etc. I'm getting tests for stomach infection at the moment myself. Good luck and dont give up!

I had this problem after I vomited violently once. It can also happen when you lift heavy weights sometimes. The doctor said it was likely that I had dislodged/strained my gastroesophageal sphincter, meaning acid from my stomach came up more easily and saliva/food/water was causing discomfort. It got better for me after about six weeks, but I guess the variations in the damage you may do to the esophagus could lead to variations in the time it takes to get better

It was wonderful..so I wanted to share it with you.

I have been getting the same symptoms for maybe the past month now. Tightness in my chest, a little burning sensation. Sometimes it feels like my throat is closing, or i have something stuck in there. I also get heart palpitations..(feels like its skipping a beat) and it all totally freaks me out! Also, i dont know if this would be related, but my back (upper back ,back of neck) feels stiff, like ive pulled a muscle, and sometimes it feels like its traveling around to my chest. Ive seen on here that all this could be due to stress. I DO have a lot going on right now. But just wondering why it hasnt shown up before..And really scared to go to a dr, but i know i should

I'm a 45 year old woman with some previous neck/shoulder issues. I am experiencing the same symptoms.
My chest and upper/mid back and neck feel stiff, like I need to move to get comfortable. I also have that feeling of something (feels like a golf ball) in my thoat. For me, it hurts more when I burp and I do take Nexium, so I'm thinking it's not gas/reflux related. Whatever it is, it definitely takes my breath away at times and I too feel like I could pass out or puke when I can't get comfortable or when I lay down. The best position for me is standing or sitting STRAIGHT up. I've been stretching for the past few days and I've used my hot tub daily, but nothing seems to help. I've checked my pulse and blood pressure and all is fine there too. It's extremely uncomfortable and scary sometimes. I don't think I'm under any "extra" stress than normal, but with previous neck/shoulder issues (old car accident) I do carry any extra stress in my neck and I can usually feel it, but this is different. I can also say another symptom I'm having is being hot one moment and freezing the next and I'm not running a fever. If anyone has any idea, please let us know.
Thx.

I'm 17 and I've been having similar symptoms for the past few days. Pain swallowing, even liquids, and especially water. The pain goes all the way down what I believe is my esophagus to my stomach and stops. I have a constant light burning in my chest and occassionally burp which makes me feel better for a few seconds. It feels as if there is a piece of food stuck in my throat or a gas bubble stuck there. I threw-up some Nyquil before this started happening due to an empty stomach so I wondered if it was maybe due to acid damage from vomiting but the pain should have been gone by now if it was. I took an acid controller the night before which didn't help at all, and I've tried cough drops and still no results. Also, I tried using Maalox but that didn't help either. It sucks because I can barely eat and I have two more days waiting on test results. Is there any possible short-term solution??

I too have been experiencing difficulties with throat, ear and chest infections. I have been on prednozone and antibiotics and those have helped, but it has comeback. Symptons are headaches, face pain, earfullness, dizziness, nausea, hand and arm pain. I have upcoming appointments to see an ear specialist and also a stress test for the lungs.

I relate to all of you your problems and hope these appointments will give me some more facs to get us better. I will keep you posted after the appointment.

Wow..I have suffered from panic and stress disorders off and on now for over 20 years. Gone to the ER 3 times thinking I was having a heart attack only to be told I'm ok. Was also diagnosed with reflux, it's gotten so bad lately than I don't even want to eat. I take the purple pill at nite, but wake up with the taste of death in my mouth and usually keep that all day. The gas/pressure feeling is so bad now that I don't even want to eat. Good news is I'm losing some weight..but my quality of life is really bad right now. Went for walk last nite and felt a little better, just wish this would go away.

I've got the same thing going on. Kinda like a tightness, or maybe what some people would call a "frog in the throat" Kinda.
I came to this to read the replies and a comment said something about stress. Makes a lot of sense in my case because of the fact that
for the past couple of days I've lost my girl, and she's sleeping in someone else's bed. I don't know if you've had anything like that happen, I'm just here to corroborate the comments that say it's stress-related/

ive noticed doctors will know what you prob have but make small suggestions that will cure the actual problem but then push some meds or scan on you to get more money from the issue. i have the same prob and poor posture is the cause. humans are RUNNING animals you must run everyday unless you are lucky and have enough neanderthal genes to be more sedentary. wake up and run for 20 mins 5 times a week. if u cant run, walk until you can. pushing and pulling exercises are great help. laying on you bed and flexing your abs while face down with pressure on your chin helps alot as well. when you move your body it begins to fit back into place. peace
